Dose anyone grow fruit n veg in your back yards .

I'm a horticulturist by trade as well. I grow everything that I can using Korean natural farming techniques. I am Canadian but get all my seed out of the state's. BAkercreek seeds is amazing. I grow 30 different types of tomatoes, all the ultra hat peppers. 1300 garlic this year.

No poultry just crops. Almost everything we grow is fermented in raw honey. I'm growing 12 different types of pole bean, 400 corn 3 types of popping corn cause the kids love it lol

Very nice my house block is just under 1/4 acre which is the biggest block in my neighbourhood was very lucky to get it cheap I payed 26 K Aust nowhere else in Australia could you buy that cheap we had enough money to buy 4 house first them in past 5 years we have bought 4 more house blocks which we rent out to low income family's that are finding it tough to put a roof over there head . I feel blessed that I did the right thing I love helping people its the way my parents taught me . OD .

I'm also a big chicken fan... both original and extra crispy!!!

also got some tomatoes, hot peppers, cucumbers, and asparagus growing in a polytunnel...

so does anybody else us gardening gloves like these??? i've been using them for a few years now and love em.... i say they are for those of us with the dawg in us!!!!! haha

i also enjoy working with landscaping trees as well.... this is my rhoddy in full bloom right now....

Where you from, see a rhodo so going to say west coast USA or Canada. I live in interior of bc and tough growing the beautiful rhodo here to dry. I also have a huge old apricot tree. Some fruit this year, but last couple of years poor fruit set. Love apricot. Also have 3 young Pacific galas out front

no sir, i am in the northeast usa, the philidelphia/tri-state area.... 80'90's in the summer, and frozen in the winter.

i had a five apricot trees and lost them one by one to winter storms over the years and was just down to that one lonely tree, it's not a self pollinating tree so i didn't get any fruit at all for years!! then four years ago i put in the first peach tree and wouldn't ya know it the peach pollinated the apricot and now my big tree puts out hundreds of apricots again!!!! most are pretty tall and i don't get em all but i get enough!!!!

and man like ten years ago my rhoddy tree tipped over from heavy snow, pulled the root mass right out of the ground/// so i jammed a support stick under it then bought a steel cable and tied to my house for support... saved that tree... stronger than ever now!!!! and not relying on the cable either... not that i'm gonna take that cable away!!!

Some updates from my little slice of paradise

Was just admiring stoneys use of earthbox tubs...Yeah they work great! Maybe a little too good?
I think my toms are planning to take my soul or something as they get a menacing look more and more with each passing day.

Passion Fruits are blooming and ripening at the same time

Heres What i just built the other day, 2x4 boxes above ground, cut an 8foot post into 2foot sections burry that a foot deep, Screwed 2 6" patio deck boards to the posts on each side building a 1 foot wall.

lined that with heavy duty fabric to stop weeds ect ect, soil, then perilite, then azomite, then compost, mix, more perlite, rinse repeat till full. Took about 2 bags of soil 4 cu ft + 80lbs of compost + a bag of hummus manure.

Then I dumped a 5 gallon mix of fish emulsions and mycorhizz fungi root stuff whatever that shits called.. Figure it can't hurt right?

I shall be a freq. participant as the months creep on, Just gotta find the energy and a good pain free day to get shit planted.. I did actually get some cuttings of a lillac bush put in the ground i'll try and get photos of those today since i gotta get out and cut some trees down too damn things are shading my back yard way too much cant grow proper weed in the shade 1/2 the day.

Front boxes i think at least 1 but prolly 2 will be all corn wont be alot but maybe 8 stalks per box should be ok? i think i can sqeeze that many in. Then the other 2 boxes are left for my mom to garden in, originally was gonna leave all 4 for her but she said to plant corn so that saves me from having to build another one just for corn.

Not sure if im going to need a fence around the corn this year, previous house it turned out there was a black bear or multiple black bears eating bird seed and stuff out of peoples feeders, and it also TRASHED my fucking corn peeling the husks and leaving me with a mess.. I was pissed!!!

No news of bears where i live now thankfully, but i did see a flock? of deer over the winter crossing the street right into my yard and passing thru, I don't need them stalking my corn..

OOO and i dumped a bunch of sunflower seeds on the ground after i did a bucket trap to kill 6!!! fucking chipmunks so i got those sprouting now, I'll prolly plant a few in the boxes too just for shits n giggles, i mean who don't love giant sunflowers right?

and then of corse my grow in the backyard which i expect to fully fail at being my 1st time with cannabis but fingers crossed!

Thought I'd drop in and show my valient effort to grow something besides cannabis in an apartment environment plagued with squirrels, pigeons, and bugs...
Just some baby lettuce, cucumbers and peppers.

I just picked up a 14x14' net to hang around my patio area to block the birds and squirrels from the spot once and for all. They were daily digging them up so i used coffee filters and lined the top of the soil then poured instant coffee over the top and watered. It has created a sort of coffee shell and the digging issue hasnt come back...

but I do still have some bugs munching pretty heavy on the peppers top leaves... They seem to be doing okay regardless but it is getting worse...
Got my first few peppers coming in tho!
Pretty sure im doing it all wrong, but Mother Nature and I seem to have an understanding

Yes i ripped coffee filters to fit around the stock of the plant over the Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil, then just pour enough instant coffee to cover the surface lightly then water. The coffee is actually good for the soil, and squirrels absolutely hate the smell of it so wont dig it. The layer of instant coffee hardens on the filter making it even more dig resistant while still breathable and waterable. The cucumbers are in giant cheese ball containers... We like cheese balls... Theyre cheap and tasty and the container is sturdy and large. I worried about them being clear but i havent noticed any issues from it. The peppers halloween buckets are semi clear and glow in the dark

We always put plants out but in our climate its always a gamble for varioys reasons. (I've seen snow every month of the year here)

This year because of the pandemic we had the time to put in a couple gardens. Its all finally starting to grow as our overnight temperature comes up... Getting about 17 hours a day sunlight now too.

I'm much more well informed about what I grow inside. Out here its water when required. Weed periodically, loosen the soil and feed once a week once they're tough enough to take it, while we hope mother nature is feeling generous this year haha.

I wonder if that will work against cats?!:)i have few cats here,sometimes they also dig in my bigger pots(where they can step and sit) and pee in them,that is something i really hate!!!!:DI leave big stones on the surface to prevent that,but sometimes doesnt help.I will remember that one to try!
About the cheese ball containers do they have holes on the bottom or may be they grow like that?i only grow cucumbers in the ground but thats interesting!
