B8KD's First Grow - Outdoor - LA Kush Cake, Casper OG, Hazmat OG & Do-Si-Dos F2

I’m concerned about the yellowing leaves on some of my plants. Is this normal during flowering? I expected some change in leaf color but this amount of change is starting to concern me. There’s a video of the plant at the end. Thanks, B8KD...

Looks like most late flower plants I have seen. IDK if they call that the fade??? But I personally wouldn't stress over it. If it is concerning to you, maybe give em some compost tea with added bennies. Look awesome and can't wait to see the fish line brother! 👊

Thanks for the reply. That makes me feel a "little" bit better, but I am still very concerned about the yellowing on this plant and a couple others. It came on so rapidly and now the yellow leaves are curling up and dying in a short amount of time. At this point I think I'm going to try increasing my Phospate & Nitrogen in their next feeding and start a separate tea, like you recommended, using equal parts compost and earth worm castings in a bag and then add .5mL per gallon of mollases and let that aerate for 24 hrs and see if the plants like it.

Photo of the plant we’re talking about from earlier today.

Thanks again! B8KD

Hey Farm - I'm trying to correct this yellowing deficiency with my a few of my plants. It started right after all this smoke rolled in about a week ago. Not sure that it's related but it sure was interesting timing. I have a plan of action now but I want to run it by the community before implementing it. This is my first grow and I absolutely do not want to do more harm than good with the nutrient correction I'm proposing. My last few posts have described what's going on along with a lot of pictures. I'm just not getting a whole lot of traction with the community.

Please help. B8KD

That actually looks like potassium/phosphorus leaning to the potassium side of things, that's what your using the most of right now, anyhow. It's getting close to the end, but that wouldn't probably stop me, I would just go light.

TBH, I think wood ash would be the best bet at this point. (NPK ratio: 0-1-3)

She does seem to be fading at an accelerated pace. How many weeks do you think is left? My neck of the woods is 3-4 weeks on average. I would be like you and needing some advice on what the most experienced growers recommend. I would lean towards adding teas at this stage. Probably the fastest uptake option. Have you tried using beneficial microbes this grow? Something like mammoth p or URB great white are great options.

Please help. So how much longer do y’all think I’ve got on this Sherbadough? I’ve got two Dosidos plants that also look very similar with regard to bud & trichome development. This is my first harvest. I’ve heard a variety of different things to look for. Trichome development, pistils turning color, etc. what do y’all think? I tried to attach as many pictures as possible so y’all can help. Thanks, B8KD

Happy Friday Everyone!! What do you all think? Are these three plants ready to be chopped? See below for six or seven pics of each plant including photos taken through a 40x loupe. B8KD

First up is “Sherbadough” (GG4 x Sunset Sherbet)

I had two Dosi clones and wanted to top one and leave the other whole to see if there was much difference in the end product weight. I differentiated between the two in the pictures below.

#1 Double Do-Si-Dos (OGKB x Face Off OG) - Topped this one.

First harvest ever. Taking down three of my plants tonight. I’ve got them inside and I have my drying area set up. I’m also going to do some bud washing, read up on it quite a bit, so I also have my buckets ready and filled for the dunking process. My plan is to only wash about 3/4 of each plant so that I’ll have something to compare the washed buds to when all is said and done. I will also be testing some of this at Juniper Analytics here in Bend, OR after it’s cured and may possibly test “washed” vs “unwashed” so that I can see if there is any difference in potency. I also want to know how I did on my first go round and lab testing will give me hard numbers. B8KD

I’m looking at them thinking “where do I begin”? But I’m there now and making my first cut. Video below. If anyone has some guesses on dry bud weight I’d be interested to hear them. I really have no idea what it’s gonna weigh out at once dry. I’m pretty sure it’ll be over a QP per plant but hoping for a half or close to a half. B8KD

Ok, well I sure as hell didn’t manage to cut and process three plants yesterday. That was the plan but we all know how plans can go. I only managed one. Had no idea how involved it would get. May have had my OCD get in the way a little too. I chose to use “bud washing”. Did lots of research. It sure added a lot of time to the harvest but boy was there some contaminates in the water afterwards. And I can’t wait to throw the dry product on a scale. I think I exceeded my expectation of a QP on this one plant. Yeah!!!

Howdy Farm - I now have three plants worth of branches hanging in the drying room with five more plants to go. For Now it’s two Dosi’s and one Sherbadough. I can really see how the leaves are drying differently on the two strains even though they looked similar fresh on the branch.

I also have a nice example of what my first plant’s buds are looking like. I provided a day #1 photo for the bud @ 3.89 grams and a day #6 picture @ 1.02 grams with no additional trimming. This is a Dosi bud.

Stellar job brother! It's a fun journey, ain't it!?!

So I’ve really been enjoying the harvest. There has definitely been some ups and downs, and a lot more work than I ever imagined, but to actually get to consume something that you produced is just amazing!

I took these pics right before I started trimming this LA Kush Cake. It’ll be trimmed and hung to dry by the end of the day. Guestimating about a half pound of bud off of this one once everything is dried and cured.

Mannnnnn these look sensational.

This grow was about four years ago but I forgot to post pictures of the final product after I got it tested. And I’ve been off the site for awhile up u til recently. The pics in the above grow journal are my dosi F2’s and a Sherbadough plant. These were my best performing strains, out of the seven different strains I tried that grow, in this central Oregon outdoor weather. All Archive Portland Genetics. The Dosi F2 I submitted for testing, shown in the first photos, came in at a little over 20% thc. But the frost was even more amazing. What I found most interesting was the difference between what my “outdoor” grown, dried & cured buds looked like vs what most of the commercial “outdoor” buds at the dispensary looked like. Big difference all around when you get to smoke something you out all this effort into. Smell, taste, bag appeal, etc. Definitely get out of it what you put into it when it comes to growing. Biggest thing I’ve learned so far. Nothing for free. Now there’s some truly phenomenal bag appeal with some of the indoor grown around here but generally the outdoor bag appeal is lacking. I pulled a quarter pound of “dried” flower off each of the plants I grew. Over two pounds of bud. Ended up having to give it away because I couldn’t smoke it all and it does get old and I get tired of smoking the same thing. I also decided to learn how to make ice water hash and heat press buds and also heat press the ice water hash for an even purer product. I just like understanding how to do things. But I like the ice water hash more than the pressed concentrates and I like flower more than hash. Each processing step seems to remove some of the beauty of the original flower when you actually consume it. Now I did enjoy mixing hash with flower in my volcano. But that causes me to have to clean the volcano a lot more often and I honestly prefer really good flower all by itself in my volcano.
