I can’t wait for flower so I can turn this humidifier off and maybe start running the dehumidifier instead. The carbon filter will thank me I’m sure.

That's also where I'm curious at. I have about anywhere from 85- 92° in my 2x2 and then the humidifier running at halfway to 3 quarters full blast to get like 70 rh in there. I'm hoping once I get the fan that can control temp and humidity will be able to drop the heat from the light and turn down the humidifier to help control both in there. Guess we will see once everything shows up.

Exhaust to filter, small intake on bottom of tent, still need to put up another layer of tarp or black plastic so I can just leave tent open & heat will be venting outside immediate area, & need to get taller shelf for fan to sit on. 4x4 flower tent with 6" cloudline

Hmm. That’s the second one I saw where the fan is attached to the filter via like 10’ of hose. Wouldn’t it better to have the fan really close to the filter and then a longer, or no discharge hose on the fan?

I’ve been using the Phat 6”x20” filters, well worth the extra money...2”batt of charcoal, 22lbs for the six inch version...You get what you pay for.

My set up vacuums out of two 4x4 tents then into my six inch fan, then out through the filter...all outside the tents.

Not sure, have to check & see if makes difference

Man you guys are killing me with these big setups. I have a damn 2x2 and looking at like 4" x 8" filters 4"x12" max. Ugh. Lol

Been thinking about moving filter outside tent too, hmmm

Lol, I started with 2x2 for veg & 4x4 for flower, added another 2x3 for veg recently & already short on room again lol, all cheap tents & lights until I know which directions I'm going but got a good fan when unexpected heat & humidity issues came up at old place. You'll keep running out of room & finding ways to get more tents, it's a space consuming hobby to have

I'm on my first Grow, and am using a Vivosun 4" Inline fan with a (Vivosun) Charcoal Filter.
I fastened it securely to the fan, using Duck Tape. My plants are not Reeking yet, but they're
putting out that old familiar Green, Fuelly smell. I imagine the flowering heads (which are
just now forming) will smell more intensely, but so far that little 4" charcoal filter is handling
it...in my bedroom (where my Tent is), I can't smell anything. I bought it in a hurry, as a Kit
off Amazon for $114.00. I'm sure you can beat the price, elsewhere.

Ok so school me cause I'm a little confused. Does having a filter inside just help with smell going through filter from inside out or can you just draw air out an exhaust port and keep fan and filter outside? Confused on where equipment should go. I have seen setups with them inside and now you guys are talking outside.

You can put anything anywhere you like essentially but different setups will have different levels of...crap simple word just exited my brain, freaking dabs too early lol

My 6 phresh 330 cfm fan drops my humidity from 68 to 35 in about abit over a min and temp from 25.5 to 23.5 its not 100% accurate but not far off.atm lights on its plugged into an inkbird temp and cool and humidity is run off another inkbird ..before lights off i plug it into the dehumidifier to keep the humidity down during lights off.a little bit of a bugger around but works very well at 1/4 setting on fan controller.. i havnt the flter on as its my veg roombut have an 8 inch rated at 750cfm which is more than up to the task..

Filters can go both ways as a push or pull. But they work better being pulled through. Aka don’t put the filter on the discharge side of the fan. It doesn’t matter where it goes as long as it’s air tight and the resistance isn’t too strong.


if you want to attach a hose to the outside of your tent, then 10’ away have the filter and THEN the fan all outside the tent. That works too if the fan is strong enough to overcome all hose and the filter.

Guys are making my brain hurt. Lol. So a fan will have an intake and exhaust on it. I.e.either side. So whichever I decide to pull air out of my tent equipment inside the tent to push out, or equipment outside to draw fresh air in? Or is that all wrong?

you don’t want it pushing stinky air out. You want to pull the stinky air out if you can. All that means is putting the filter before the fan. It’s all the same length and fittings and tools.

Intake air you can push in. That’s fine.

but exhaust air you wanna try to pull out. And you want it to pull a tad harder than your Intake so It tries to “collapse” the tent a tinyyyy bit and causes a negative pressure and causes zero smell as no air can leave the tent because there is a vacuum due to your super strong exhaust sucking it hard as fk. Air can only enter the tent. Never leave if it’s like that.


now picture the opposite. A super strong intake and a weak exhaust... your tent would puff up and be like a balloon trying to expand and explode and shooting stinky air out of every single orifice and zipper hole and crack possible. You want the opposite.


you can have the fan inside the tent and pulling air.

you can have the fan outside the tent and pulling air.

either way you decide. Put the filter first before the fan!! Filter never goes after the fan. Every fan has a flow of direction and usually has an arrow too.

Not all filters can be hooked up inline. The phresh would have to be at the end for example. Better inside top of tent imo.
