Perfect... 107L of proterra, 15L coco, 15L worm castings and 3 cups gaia green 4-4-4 perfectly filled 20 x 3 gallon pots. I love when my math works... lol

Cant tell you all how good this feels. Not only to be back at it, but back at it with Organics. I havent fed these plants anything but plain water since planting them and they look great.

Figured id share a few pics of my transplanting process, since i dont think i ever have.

I use an empty 2x2" pot as template to make the holes nice and even so the transplant slides right in without the need to backfill, and then sprinkle about half teaspoon of Raw microbes into the bottom. With proterra i know its clean and has no salts in it so i do this all while its dry, straight out of the bag and water it in after transplant.

Lloks like these are at the perfect stage for transplanting imho.

Yes, im liking that lol. When i potted them i used basically the same soil mix and gave them a tsp of EJ grow, a bit of RAW and fish poop. Since then just plain water. Rainwater even surprising enough. Partly why im happy theyre planted, they gonna need some Calcium.

What are you using for cal? I’ve been collecting eggshells for a week to make WCA for future organic grows.

Aaaannnnd theyre off! Honestly this mix is on the slightly hot side so i wont be surprised if they squirm for a few days.. But they should be fine. And the next couple waterings will be just lakewater.

I'll leave them under the single T5 tonight and fire up the big lights tomorrow. I think im gonna jump straight to 1k HID and just keep them high the first couple days and lower them a bit each day. I want these classy ladies to grow as fast as possible. Hoping to flip in under 3 weeks. But, Im also going to flip them a little smaller than normal. Not by much, but a little bit for sure. The extra 4 plants should shave some time off the veg, plus since its for personal and i dont actually think this will be the last grow before next summer... lol🤣

Ill add, the calcium silicate is about the least organic thing in the mix. In fact its not at all.. But its pretty low concentration. And i dont want to fuck with Ca.
Also, judging by the crazy foam on my res I dont think it hurt the bennies at all lol.

I have been a bit curious about bacteria and salt based ferts relationship. I hope they arent killed off by my current nutes I see so many people use them with products like Floraflex.

Salt based nutes wont necessarily kill them off, but its kinda pointless since the chelates are gonna completely bypass the microbes anyway. At least for the nutrient cycling bacteria and feed cycle. But for suff like trichoderma and Bacillus to guard against pathogens, its totally fine to use. Broken coast iirc uses rootshield plus which is trichoderma in their rockwool rooms using all salt based fertilizer.

Funny though, at home for personal stash their master grower grows, or at least grew organically lol.

Ah i understand the microbes in organic grows help to assist with nutrient breakdown and uptake, and since im using chelated ferts their rapid absorption is not assisted by the microbes.

Exactly. But you will still benefit from the trichoderma and Bacillus amyll.. BA. Organic fertilizer is mostly useless without microbes to break it down and feed it to the plant in exchange for root exudate.

I like the analogy of Organic being like the equivalent of eating a whole foods diet, whereas chelated nutrients are essentially like having a feeding tube delivering soylent green straight to the guts. With chelated nutes the plant doesnt have a choice to take up the nutrients, theyre going in if you need them or not, barring a lockout situation and ratios are balanced and complete. With organic the plant will only take up what it needs, presuming the soil contains the right balance of organic nutrients and microbiology.

And to add to the whole food vs soylent comparison, the feeding tube bypasses the digestive enzymes from saliva in the mouth that normally initiates the digestion of real foods. Just like chelated nutrients bypass the digestive microbes in the soil.

I'll be honest, I think all the mushrooms are helping me out here 🤣

I wouldnt feel too bad. I used it in coco with floraflex nutrients specifically for the cheap source of the right kind of trichoderma and BA.

But it is pretty disengenuous of some of these nutrient companies to not properly explain how their products really work and which sysyems theyre most suitable for. They'd prefer eveyone bought some and used it more than necessary.
