Yeah but at the end of the day, while you wait for your lights to catch up, your plants are second rate. I will admit, because I have been in the swing of HPS, i forget how much easier not is to deal with LED. I was much more comfortable leaving my tent alone with LeD. I ALWAYS worry about temp with HPS.

Ideally i would have led in summer and hps in winter here.

Back to the 135w HLGs for a minute:
I took the ppfd map at 18" of it and added 2 of them together putting each if them half way to the edge from the center and this is what I got:

820.............870..............820
.........1045 1220 1045
910 1190 1220 1190 910
.........1040 1060 1035
810..............880..............810

That's a 2x2 tent and the bold is where the lights would be btw.
I had to estimate some of the numbers but I think I did a pretty good job.
If this is the actual map then I'd have to dim them a bit but I'd be really happy with this coverage.

@Elxfeezy can I just say for you only doing your second grow you have pretty strong opinions based on very little experience. It may serve ya well to look through a few grows of ppl pulling 3 plus pounds off a single LED of quality bud.

I agree HPS has long been proven to work but almost everyone who knows people running thw higher end LEDs knows that they are outperforming HID by a significant margin these days.

Of course you should use what works best for you but your claims are kinda bold for someone only on thier second grow.

Sorry I just can't keep my dam mouth shut.

@Elxfeezy I want to follow your grow so you can show us all how its done. Is this the right thread to follow along, I see a few others.

My buddy has some extra 600W hps lamps sitting in storage. If you pull more dry weight per square foot than @sshz did on his last grow I will have to have to borrow one and set it up!

I'm pulling a pound and a half from 1 660w hps, think I can push it to 2 this time.

But I've read sshz thread and drooled at the yield. I'm with MIMed I'd love the run my hps in winter, and those nice new Lumatek zeus leds in the summer

But imagine what you'd get with 660w of samsung lm301b, ir, deep red and uv.

There’s no need to keep your mouth shut. I’ve actually been running into this site my whole journey and just started to use it. I just don’t want to base my work off the work of amateurs, rather than plant scientists psychologists. No offense of course, me being an amateur. I’ve just come with books I’ve read written by professional and seminars given by them, rather than what I saw CoolGuy584 grow in his place. Sometime I feel like trends and choosing sides makes light of factuality.

We've all read books and watched seminars, we're so obsessed with a plant that we spend hours of our days on a forum about it so obviously we've done research on it.

Think we all feel that way about trends... and I agree if talking about LED 10yrs ago. Things have changed a lot over the past 5 yrs. I think your doing the right thing following scientific data and well known sources.

But on this I have to disagree with your take on led. It's not for everyone and has its drawbacks like any other lights but LED is not LED so while I may disagree with ya I do agree that what you say is true of some LEDs

Commitment to this site doesn’t mean one has done their fair share of research. If that was the case you wouldn’t see so many people growing autos.
Even autos have their benefits.

5 lights gonna cost me 9k fr gavita, 3k for the r the Lumatek and I'll get change. That's a Massive outlay for me. My 5 x hps cost me 260 delivered 😂 OK was new bulbs on top of that.

For all I know it will balance out, it will kill me to break 3k out

Gonna be honest, it's more like $1500 but it comes with huge yields and a light that lasts a long time.
So you drop a Craigslist Honda Civic on a light, and say it’s less expensive that buying a 30 dollar bulb and a 50 dollar fixture and a 100 dollar ballast? I paid 25 for a 400 w hps back in August and it’s still going. Spend 1200 to save what?
