I started with hps back in the day. I switched to leds about 4 years ago. As far as I know 2700k is best but these have added red diodes. I don’t know the color temp the ladies see. Don’t know the lumens either. They have 2 of the 288 lm301H boards and meanwell hlg driver so they are super efficient.
Oh dam, I'm surprised I remember 2700k lol.
I'm curious how many lumens per watt they put out, and my old school thinking is 5000 watts per sw ft minimum.
I can tell some LEDs aren't as strong, as the buds don't connect to colas, but that can be genetics too..
The biggest positive I see is cost, and use of electricity. In Colorado electricity was cheap. 6 cents a kw, except 12 in summer (greedy bastards).
The rent was cheap as well. Nutes, and equipment were the biggest investment weekly/monthly.
I have yet to hear anyone using silica in their nute solution.
Are HPS lamps still being used?
Do people still feed with Lucas formula?

A couple LED question for anyone who may know. What's the cost of a good quality LED lamp that would cover a 5x5 area?
How close can you get the plants to the light?
I'd imagine 220v control to run multiple lights is necessary (i guess not for tent, or small rooms?)
Do the light have to constantly be replaced?
Compared to HPS, do ya feed the same, or less? (I know that depends on the grower) ***That's for those who have used LED, and HPS.
Thanks, that will give me an idea what everyone is talking about

I shoot for 40 watts a foot. Running cost and less heat are the big advantages. You can get them with infrared and ultraviolet diodes too. Hps, metal halides, floros, and Lucas formula, and silica are all still around. Even rockwool is still around.

Nice! The clone only East Coast SD is a legend. A monster yielder, and extremely potent.
Does she pop late nanners that are sterile?
It's probably the lighting, but it almost looks like it did have enough N going into flower. Is that the light? It's rare to be low on N, but I've seen flowers do that. It's always ended up looking killer due to the light color foliage. Do you take that about 70 days?
I miss growing the ECSD. It's one of the few strains that can break yield records
started as a seed plant. Pulled clones after harvest actually. Took 3 months to get et back. I wasn’t set up for clones that’s why I didn’t do it earlier. 2000w hps

Sweet. I could see myself walking in a grow shop, and not recognizing anything at all. I'm sure there are other old timers who know what's up.

Now that's a unique structure. Is she tough to trim? Mad Dog has ben around a few? Do you know the cross?
Top Dawg released it five or six years ago... It is Green Crack x Chem '91 (bx).
I ran the seed plants, and this is the first run of the clones of the keepers... So, I haven't exactly trimmed a lot of it... But looks like a pretty easy groom to me.
That’s a pretty flower!! It looks like it’ll knock you for a loop!!
Thank you... It definitely does. 🥴

Yes sur! The ONLY time I've ever seen nanners has been in SD. It's always come from the same cut, so I'd know they're sterile. I've seen a couple people take them down, as they didn't want to risk pollinating entire large gardens, even though they knew to look for em. The guy we all got it through has been running it for years now, and they're always sterile.
Besides using 40 ppm of silver, I've never been able to get my plants to herm, and I've tried. I've cut the lights off fir days, changed the dark, and light cycles, let lower buds go completely with out light for weeks....I've been very lucky with stable genetics.
Anyway she's legit. People say it has a "fuel" taste/odor. To me it kind of tastes luke puke, but in the best way possible. I have seen the SD end up with a couple seeds (a few per lb), but that's the extent. That's one of the strains I'll use when I wanna get real medicated. A potent strain. Classic!

Cut the 28th(13 weeks flower), Now she is drying. I'd show the other plant, but this one makes it look like I know what Im doing! I'm gonna try and get some real good close ups maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Got ya on the SD. Yeah, that definitely happens with some cuts. I've also seen, well have the one that shoots em a bit earlier, but are sterile.

ALERT******** Firstgrow guy...
Bottom pic, a little above center...nanner. did you notice little yellow banana looking things? Look just north of dead center. Being your 1st grow, others will be able to confirm.

It's also hard to tell w/out really zooming in, but you may have taken her down a couple weeks early. Looks like your trichs are clear. If you take more pics, zoom in like this, but in daylight, or 5000k, or higher

Ph going in is supposed to be 6.4 but I don’t really know I was using a 12$ ph meter got a better one now though the soil is fox farm ocean forest and ppms are between 1000 -1200 I’m using purified water cuz I have hard water so I’m adding in calmag 2ml per liter usin the advanced nutrients 2ml per L and one tbsp of molasses just started 2nd week of flower today and noticed a day or two ago my soil ph was high in the 8 range so past two days been using just water and vinegar with low ph to bring it down

Personally, (from recent experience) I would try something other than the acetic acid (vinegar) because it might not be noticeable to the naked eye in small quantities, but please believe me when I say, it's highly toxic and deadly to the plant. Too virtually all living plants, actually.

Acetic Acid is BAD, BAD, BAD!!! and it soaks readily into the plant tissues, and is impossible or nearly impossible, to remove, it's got to be detoxified though a metabolic process, which is taking up vital energy.

Go with phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid (#The Best choice for starters, IMO But use proper precaution), citric acid, ascorbic acid, gibberellins, hormones, auxins, cytokinins, humic/fluvic acid, even small amounts of salicylic acid (if you can get it to dissolve, personally I use glycerin, then into water). Anything, besides vinegar. Something the plant can actually metabolize and use, something of net benefit.

At one point I figured it could possibly be converted into 3-indoleacetic acid, (biologically useful) but no dice, there simply is no mechanism that exist for that conversion. IMO, it's just a poor choice among so many other better ones.
