I'm thinking of trying regular seeds

The only difference between regular seeds and female seeds are that regular seeds will have both XX and XY genes in the package. So genetically they are the same other than the male or female chromosome. However, some female seeds are hermie prone. I believe that is more of a breeder issue though. Good breeders take the time to be sure the genetics are stable.
Thanks. Can you recommend a solid breeder?

What are you looking for specifically seed-wise as there are many. I have grown Barney's Farm, Bulk Seed Company ( surprisingly good at a fair price), Delicious Seeds, Greenhouse Seeds, Blimburn Seeds, Reserva Privada/DNA genetics, Humboldt Seed Company ... and that's still just a small list of many.

I stay away from "ThugPug" and the other outrageously priced seeds you sometimes see. $30-$40 per seed is crazy ... but some people buy them.

Hello. Thanks for the information. I livecin Bakersfield, CA, where it's always hot and dry. I want a strain that can handle my climate and tropical terpenes.

Well, you're in luck because the majority of strains do well in arid conditions provided you're giving them proper care and watering. Describe what you mean by tropical terpenes ... like tropical fruits?

This seed bank is located in San Diego, CA. It only stocks seeds from reputable breeders ... breeders who have taken the time to breed out undesirable characteristics from their strains. You'll find a nice selection of regular seeds there.

1)regular seeds are better because you have a greater gene pool, selfing limits this and with reg you have a greater chance of stability provided little/no intersex was used.
2) wait for alternate phylotaxy and the sex will most times be revealed shortly afterwards.
3) it's like learning to spell, you will need it to get a better jib
4)Yes if you have the room and are searching to improve your collection
5)no,taste is plant specific, every seedbank will tell you they have the best, like ford will tell you they make better vehicles than gm,try the boards for seeds, some people have already went through this and selected.
I laughed too hard at #3 lol!

Take a look at Humboldt seed company. I think you can view their catalog at their site. There’s a good chance that they are available at a dispensary somewhere down there. Growing two of his strains this year and so far look good. I think he has a bunch of Tutti Frutti Strange also. Might be able to go to a local dispensary and just walk out with them. Eliminate the mail.

If I remember right in January I bought a pack of 20 regs For 100 bucks. Then an April bought a pack of 10 fems For 150. Maybe it’s cheaper to buy them out of season. L O L

@Dragonsflame is a fantastic breeder as well. Has both fems and regs.

Personally I prefer regs. I like the phenotype diversity and am always on the hunt for that unicorn male that would make a great sire. I've found fems to be alright, but the diversity isn't quite as impressive nor do I like the instability of them effectively being first generation in most cases. Any reputable reg line that is released will be at least f2 and have been worked/tested extensively to ensure quality progeny are being sold. fems can be a bit of a crapshoot ime.

case and point: i bought multiple fem packs from both katsu and from mass medical, and had the absolute worst germination rates I've had of any beans. Hell, I've been able to get cracked mexibrick seeds to germinate. Katsu and Mass Medical are both reputable breeders (at least supposed to be) but their fem seeds just didn't work out. Sucks considering I really wanted to grow their gear but I'll never shell out $150+ for a pack of beans from them again. Hell, they couldn't pay me to take their gear.

Regs are better. Their either male or female. No cross dressing Sheila ladyboys popping nuts at random.
Key is to plant 50%+ more seeds than you would with fems.

Everything’s a 50/50 gamble. Regs aren’t better than fems and fems aren’t better than regs. Regs are more if your planning on breeding with that strain, and if you are, you would definitely wanna find a stud male. Fems are for peeps that don’t have time and space to be growing a possible male, they just want the goods...chicks and no doods lol

in my experience with regs it's more like 60/40 or even 70/30 fems usually USUALLY.
Yes there is the occasional story of someone getting all males in a pack. chance and all that.
But more often than not I get higher female than male ratio anyway.
There are stellar and different selections in both realms.
Running some right hemisphere forbidden milk and buttermilk and they're absolutely crushing right now.

I have had similar experiences. Probably more like 70/30. One male can spread pollen to many females so you'll almost always have a few more females than males.

That does happen but over the course of many grows your odds will even out. I've had all females pop with regs using a small number of seeds. It happens both ways sometimes.
When I plant regs, I plant 4 just to make sure. I usually get 2-2 sometimes 3-1. I never had a 4-0, but I have had 3-0 more than once.
