Hell yeah I bet you anything it was that old school afghani genetics in it. That pure indica thats why it was so fast. If you eventually find a cut of that pleas PM me Im procuring cuts of old strains from many people here on THCFarm I will hook you up big for your efforts. I was chatting with another guy on here and he was talking about a cut that is very similar to that he says its an old school pure indica the fastest flowering strain he has ever ran its a bit finicky to grow you gotta dial it in right but he says once perfected it makes flowers that are stinky AF and fast fast! Im trading as much as possible trying to get a collection of old school cultivars. Im planning to do this massive Pepsi challenge (aka pheno hunt) and reduce it down the single hottest female that I find. Then if I am satisfied enough with it Im gonna then ship back cuts of this champion female to every person who participated in my pheno hunt project and sent me stuff. This way I can pay it back to the community and hopefully send people stuff that is even perhaps better than what they sent me. Its gonna take time to eventually go through all this stuff likely a few seasons but Im confident that if I keep turning through stuff Im bound to stumble on something incredible just a matter of time.

I had to join because of this. Any time someone mentions kentucky I want to let them know that there have been several people throughout the years from all over the internet that mentions kentucky. I'm talking about people that arnt hunting the cultivar or even care, just rando people mention kentucky over the past 25 years. I hope I can spread what I know...

So many 'stories' about Skunk. Here it is from me, someone that's been online talking about weed since 1995. It's 'Skunk.' I don't know when naming it to RKS started because we described Skunk as it 'smells like road kill' back in the late 80s. We never called it Roadkill tho, just Skunk.

This was when I lived up around Chicago. The weed came from southern Illinois but was grown in Kentucky. It was also known as Fourway. Ring a bell?

Fourway is not to be confused with Fairfax Fourway. I know zip about Fairfax Fourway other than it was different than just regular Fourway but Fairfax may have been a little skunky too, idk. Confused yet? Ringing bells?

Let's add in Shoreline outta Texas. I do believe Shoreline was either Fairfax Fourway or Skunk (aka Fourway). Leaning towards Fairfax but I've never seen a solid conversation I trust other than a Costal Texas guy moving to Kentucky and saying 'oh yall got Shoreline here' or vice versa. Shoreline never gave me the RKS vibes from conversations I've seen.

That's pretty much my knowledge about Skunk. I'm cool with the term RKS. Totally fits and absolutely distinguishes the cultivar apart from any other name including, imho, the shadiest name in all of the cannabis world, 'Skunk #1.' I say shady maaan because so many new people think it's the RKS and buy seeds lol.

I hope one day Skunk shows up. I think its still in kentucky or Illinois. Now that you mentioned Indiana as maybe a hub adds to the mystery.
I'm in the near Chi and can say I remember that straight skunk smell where when you burned it had a crazy head high that kept you high for few hours and hungry like an animal, afterwards you walked around stinking like a skunk with stank on your clothes and mouth, if you can relate. This was early mid 80s, called it skunk or zorillo Spanish for skunk.

Yep thats the one everyone is looking for. Please let me know if you find anything remotely close your efforts will be compensated.

Now you tell me.... I just ran a cat piss variant in my garden this run. As soon as she went into flower timing she stunk up the whole room like cat piss. All the way thru the grow straight up cat piss. Then one day her smell changed to a little sweeter but the cat piss smell is still there.

I grow landrace strains on occasion from South Africa Transkei. They always herm after 90-ish days. I had a plant beside her that had a seed from the hermie only 1 seed. That seed was red. I've never seen a red cannabis seed before so what the heck the weed from that plant was a cross I made of Jellium x purple punch the plant was red. Thought the seed was from maybe a herm on that plant but I never saw any. When I popped that 1 red seed the plant grew and looked exactly like the landrace sativa from Transkei but smells straight up cat piss.

I just harvested her and she's hanging up drying right now. I did not take cuts and I did not make seeds.

I do have pollen from a giant super male of the Transkei and also seeds of the Jellium x Purple Punch that are S1s and S2s.

I'll have to puff some testers of the cat piss.

Transkei is similar to Durban will make you trip out if you aren't ready for it - this is the real deal seeds were sent to be from SA the person gave them to me got them from the tribal people. I won't ever sell that weed because karma. Gift only.

I had a friend in the 80s that grew skunk weed outdoors for many years. Phewwww that was stinky weed.

btw I think I heard DP say sensi seeds super skunk is still pretty damn good.
Hell yeah bro I gotta keep that in mind. I read years back that Flying Dutchman supposed to have the skunk in their old packs if you pheno hunt it it was rumored that a lucky few found gold that was on par with what we call a real RKS. However from what I understand they are no longer around so its probably very difficult to find old packs from them. if anyone has that shit its possible gold in there.

Hell yeah my man that shit is dope the next time you run some of that landrace stuff and find a piss pheno please please 🙏 take a cut of that brother. Piss phenos can be hard to find sometimes they are valuable especially if the taste is good. Im always down to do trades I have a whole catalogue of shit to choose from.

Thanks for reading all the way through it I commend you. I ended up typing way more than I thought I would but the reason why is because I wanted to explain to everyone how these different clues started to fit together for me over time. I truly do believe that the Ester Alcohols are a key component to this lost RKS just as Kevin Jodrey explains in that first video. There were a handful of cultivars that were floating around back then that had the Ester Alcohol genes. Based upon my personal experience Train-wreck was definitely one of them along with some of the other stuff that came out of the late 80s and 90s. The 2000s is when everything started to disappear I just caught the very tail end of the phenomenon in 2005. Im 37yo now If I was any younger I would have missed it all together.
I am a old smoker I think a lot of the old strains are lost ,nothing seams to measure up to old outdoor buds ,to much stuffing around trying to get the highest thc and lost old school buds ,just like strawberries these days they don’t taste like they used to ,there is nothing scientific, just my 2 cents worth .

Yeah man its a shame. Im searching through all the 90s and older cultivars and if I can find something that is at the least close to some of the real deal old school then I will be satisfied. Will I find the elusive white whale RKS that everyone is hunting for? Maybe not. Will I find something hotter than what I have already? Possibly. Thats the goal really just revive some old school funk and have dank weed to smoke. Im not a commercial grower this is for my enjoyment

Feminized ,autos, poor selections ,polyhybrids, need for yield, and basically greed did . People just cross any and everything with more focus on naming it and bag appeal than quality. Lots of collectors still have old school strains but they are keeping them. Regular seeds are becoming more rare all the time.

Great thread, folks. These seemingly lost Skunk strains got me thinking that maybe they are not lost at all. Anyone heard of Electroculture? Supposedly we can influence gene expression using a simple process utilizing electricity. ( Electro Culture – The Boost of Plant Growth with Electricity ). In test performed on plants, genetics were made to express themselves that were thought to be long lost. Anyone interested search "The Ebner effect".

Dam this shit is blowing my mind. Fucking crazy man I wonder what would happen if you took the oldest skunk seed stock you can find and then exposed it to this method? What a trip!

I grew regular Chemdog and it smelled like feet, yuck. My stepson threw his out because he thought that funk was mildew or something lol. Is Chemdog 91 skunky?
Yes it can be and the terps change with age/cure. While I was growing Chemdog for a few years it stunk up the neighborhood even tho my room was closed and AC etc. It's got the lineage for skunk fer sure.

Feet smell ... ??? Prolly depends on whose feet I'm thinking? Actually who smells feet? yuk bro
