I just ordered another 6 - 1/4lb bags and on their order page they have a coupon code box......So where does one find coupon codes for Grove bags? We need a Grove bag rep on here to entice us to buy their product with the help of discounts.
There's a code in another thread for $10 off and it applies but when I pressed the place order button a popup said the coupon was not mine and removed it. It may work for you though. Worth a try. I also used Cap1's coupon program which applied a 10% off but it didn't work either. I gave up after that.
Double check shipping though. It automatically did FedEx ground but I noticed UPS was $8 less than FedEx so I clicked UPS. Not too fond of the $5 mix and match fee either and I tried ways around it but a couple of the bags I wanted had to have that charge to get them.
Great bags but pricing and shipping fees could use some work

I don’t know if it’s bad luck of the draw but I just opened a bag that wasn’t burped (there are a couple I burped for about a week) but the bud in this bag is quite a bit drier than it was when I put it in and still gives a little burn to the throat. Still smells great, not as strong smelling as when it went in, but still smells great, but all the flavor is missing.

The day before bagging these the flavor was incredible… now 3 1/2 weeks later and the flavor is a bit harsh on the throat missing the sweet and funky diesel flavor that was very strong tasting before the cure. They dried @ 64F / 58-60% RH whole plant, 14 day dry, trimmed, sweat in paper bags for 2 days, bucked and bagged.

They are dense buds, good and smokeable but not too moist going into bags. The only differences between my test bud and the rest was no 2 day sweat in paper bags, and no 3 1/2 week cure in grove bags

Wonder what went wrong?

Were they heat sealed?

I remember when you said you heat sealed your bags closed. It was about the same time I heat sealed my current cure I’m working on. That was 16 days ago. So I think between your continuous opening and closing to check hay smell before sealing the bags, and then reopening the bag a bit early I’m not surprised with the result. Guess you should stick with jars or find another method.

I put some in a couple bags and heat sealed and didn't open for 2 months. They came out good. I had another bag I didn't heat seal and it was harsher because I didn't let it cure long enough, which I figured hence why I didn't seal as I knew I was going to use it.

Wow… This bag was neither heat sealed or burped as outlined clearly in my post. smh

Also, day 24 of cure in Grove Bag

Ok.. this was 24 day cure…maybe with some more time the flavor will come back and get smooth again. I still have plenty of sealed and heat sealed bags to test.

Wow… just read the post. This bag was neither heat sealed or burped. smh
Then I’m not sure why you expected a proper cure. The bags even say on them heat seal for best results.

Yup, for long term storage. They also say you don’t need to heat seal them unless storing for a long time in interviews on the web.

I did not store this bag long term, it was 3 weeks. Do you work for the company? Are you endorsed or something?

Funny you wouldn't think a small gesture would hurt them and it would give them a great opportunity to advertise their wares...I just asked because I saw the box for a code. Anything that can eat up some of the tax cost is good for me.

Yeah I thought that was dumb on their part too. I guess they have enough customers.

I heat sealed half my batch and left the other not sealed wanting to see what was up with that.
I didn't notice any difference in cure or quality between heat sealed and not. Even asked friends which pot was better and it was unanimous "It's the same".
The thing I don't like about sealing is needing to slice the top of the bag open. That removes part of the top and will get to a point where there's not enough clearance to seal unless you seal below the zipper if you want to use the bags more than once.
Due to the pricing and shipping shenanigans and what I just paid for a batch of bags, I plan to reuse them as much as possible unless they puncture so like how jars last for many harvests I plan the same for these bags. And when it comes time to buy more I'll be looking at other options without the price gouging.

No I don’t work for them, but I do recommend them. If that’s an endorsement ok. I don’t have the issues you seem to experience with their product. They work as advertised if the buds are dried properly and then placed in their bags and sealed for a month. I heat seal and don’t open them. Every time the bag is open the buds will become a little drier. And if it’s opened while curing that process is interrupted for a couple days as it starts over.

I treat drying and curing as two separate processes. When the buds are dried to a proper moisture level in to the bags they go. And they don’t get opened again for at lest a month. I get a perfect cure every time.

I suspect there is little difference between sealed and not sealed because I seriously doubt the zip seal is significantly more permeable than the bag is itself.

Sealing does 2 things. Keeps you from getting in and out of the bag if you can’t control yourself, and sells more bags.

I will only seal 1 and test the difference - sample weight and cannabinoid profile - after 1 3 6 and 12 months and report back.

I also plan to freeze dry samples for testing. It will go into the bag and jar the day after harvest with 0 water in it just for giggles. I wonder how the bags will deal with that? Will water be sucked in? We will be able to tell by weights.

It’s sorta the lower bound on what could potentially be put into a grove bag. I’ll see how it does across all those methods vs glass jars. I have a harvest coming soon.

This is my expectation and I will test this for everyone to see. I have no dog in this fight my only bias is that I want them to work, but I also want my standard cure to work lol.

Based on all the highly experienced and respected growers saying grove works I fully expect the results to be on par with my current methods. Will they exceed? Will I smell nothing but hay? Stay tuned.

I paid full price for my bags and have zero relationship with the grove company other than this single transaction I posted previously in this thread.

My only concern is how do I smell test objectively?

I bought some to try them out, I just placed my second order for more. If sealed they do a good job, I've no complaints, I know they are meant to seal and stay sealed but that's not how I smoke. I just make sure I seal them up again. I cycle through my stuff and I'll open them up every week or 2. They're pretty durable & reusable, I was skeptical of plastic bags @$4.50 each but eh I wouldn't get more if I didn't like them....

Which ones are you getting that are 4.50? I do the build your own variety pack. I find the velvet touch higher quality plastic, but the cheaper ones work just as well really. I find the QP to be the best size for me, HP seems too big, the bottom buds get a bit squished. I'm on my second year, I didn't seal any last year, this year I did. I keep my head stash in jars so I don't have to open all the time. Probably buy new ones next year.
