at what height would i have to run these 600w led lights though. and adjust 2inches daily on 6 lights per room. hps ceiling height 1000w no issue with that nonsense. or am i wrong

not seeing par maps hanging heights..
Which makes even more of my point the further away the more wasted light (photons) lost to walls etc

Depends on what style of lights you use. Bar style LEDs can be kept very close to the tops of plants. I'm not sure who or what gave you the impression that you need to adjust LEDs every two days? I haven't touched mine since I started this grow cycle.

I really don’t understand how this is still a topic of discussion in 2023… inless you have a budget restraint, the master grower doesn’t want to make the environmental changes and endure the learning curve … there is no reason to not be running LED.
Heat needed from them its that or a heater is my reason to like them. I can run led's in the sumer but I need the heat one way or the other.

Yes… especially at equal wattage
personally seen a side by side hps and led room. the led room has to be fitted end to end with led to cover the entire canopy where hps fixtures with reflectors (obviously) are much more widely spaced. these room apparently produce comparable results. so again im not running hps vs led personally this is what i im finding in more own experience

With the saving of wattage that can be put towards a heater that can be controlled. Not to diminish your reasoning but personally i feel you have more control if you run LED and heater

are you then getting 2inches of growth daily?

You can lump HPS together but you cannot do the same with LED. There are many styles and wattages to choose from. Just because you seen a room setup that way does not mean every LED room has to be

I think you can answer this question yourself if you've grown cannabis before :)

During the veg phase I use light intensity vs light height to control PAR. Once I get to week 3 of flower, my light is most likely now at 100% intensity sitting roughly 12" away from the tops of my plants and they stop growing eventually lol

no i joined thcfarmer just for this thread 😆

so you are adjusting the dials, a win for led.

yes after the stretch you are not really adjusting anymore

Just as an example COBS are run higher like HPS and focus light down at a narrow angle… boarda run a bit closer and bars run very close
I can keep my 1000w hps around 18" away as long as there is good air movement moving the heat off the light. I use an umbrella style reflector so there's no real hot spots if the air is moved

Correct. When using LED first thing I do is set light intensity to get proper ambient temps. Once my temps are good, I will then use hanging height to get PAR into check. This is usually around 500-600 umol during the vegetative phase and lights are usually 3-4 feet away at this point. As the plant grows, it grows into more intense light...which is kind of what we want anyways. So by the time the plants are ready for flower they are about 1-2 feet away and now getting close to 800+ umol without me changing a dial or raising/lowering a light. By the time the stretch is over and done at week 3 of flower I may have to raise the lights a bit but typically not.

looks legit ill like a par map tho to see how effective the wide optics are vs gavidas own 150degree hid reflector, this light isnt adjustable by height at all. so its a good comparison to how hids are done.

interesting throwing in a 2022 light here ill do the same with reflector tech i thought. still im not the guy who said they are as efficient as led. but he was referring to 1000w hps is 1000w led at the watt meter. no difference there.

and id be stupid to disagree, my point was that you cant run led at the ceiling, you need to keep adjusting as they grow. which adds hassles and time that could have gone to the plants

Nope you dont i know many that run them at fixed heights. But your right you can fuether increase efficiency by adjusting heights if you desire.
