One thing about where I live, no conveniences..but we still have cheap electric. I have a 3000 sq ft home, run a grow, an electrified she shed, and my whole bill is just a bit more than your grow bill!
I do heat the bottom half with a pellet stove and the upper half via a gas furnace tho.

Oh I didn't mention our oil bill at $600 for 5 weeks and its a good thing the price has dropped $.75 litre since November otherwise we'd be close to $1000 for the last fill.

I have a tolerant husband... but he doesn't go in the basement very often... I keep telling him to go clean it lol.

Yeah pretty much, I guess it depends which circles you are in... I have a friend that just bought a pound for $400... nothing special but not crap either. Dispos are still mostly the same prices, but with some stuff on sale for like 7/g, usually 10/g, 15 for "fire", nicks for $60 of mids. My guy it depends what he paid, but everything has dropped, ozs are around 100, more for anything "fire" but it all seems the same quality to me lol. If I share w some of my mountain men friends, I get 120 and I refuse to go any lower because even that hurts my heart with the amount of time and effort I put in. I go to the dispo occasionally for a few prerolls of something different or a mega strong edible... for the most part I only smoke my stuff when I have it.

I buy a pre roll every now and then. It’s my test subject. I figure if it’s half decent from the dispensary then I’ll grow it! So far only two of them I would for sure grow. Bubba Fett and Gigglebox.

We all hate the dentist! I hate mine so bad, I would not even let him have a kitten, and he would have took them all and I needed to home them! So I feel for ya!

its faux legal.....You can buy pot at the gov store drive away and be charged with illegal storage if its not in your trunk or away from your reach in the car. They bragged about the almost $90,000 in tickets they gave out in one year because of that regulation.....You can only grow pot grown from legally obtained seeds that come from a legal source...ie governments 2 seed producers ( at last count ) We can't smoke in parks on the beach or out in public.

Its much better than it was but Govs do what Govs do and thats fk everything up to please a few corporations with mega profits while those that created the business get screwed out of it.

You also can’t grow it outdoors where it can be seen from the street. (Danger to kids taking it.)

I do think you can use seeds that come from a government plant you flower but not sure.

It’s like our gun laws. Thick, muddy, and only to be used against you.

I know that Native Reservation areas get tax breaks that allow them to have low prices. Some dispensaries might be run by larger companies that can cut prices even if it isn't immediately profitable.......I've seen all kinds of numbers over the years....decades. Right now might be the cheapest (and most plentiful) weed has ever been, certainly adjusted for inflation. The highest I've ever seen was $700/z, very briefly somewhere around 20-25 years ago, and for quite a while closer to $400/z was more normal than $300. Probably because they were transition years. Through the 80s-90s imports plummetted, it just wasn't worth it any more to bring in hundreds of pounds from Columbia, Jamaica, Panama....Mexico has always been a thing but that's obviously much easier. And there was always a market for "mids". But as demand rose through the years, small (but higher quality) amounts were grown in the US and Canada.....the war on drugs waged on, crackdowns on harder drugs scooped up lots of weed, so much easier to bust......prices peaked. Then because prices were so high, more people started growing to take advantage....then came the legalization movement, and we're at this point now, lots and lots of supply, prices cracked.

We're probably going to see an oversupply of businesses, commercial grow ops.....I wouldn't want to have recently borrowed a lot at an adjustable rate to get into the business.......but there are so many cycles for so many things. It got to a point a few years ago where we could find a new IPA every day and never be able to try the 50 new IPAs that came out the month before. Believe me, I've tried. ;)

This is why I think the next thing in weed will be demand for old school varieties, nostalgia......there will be a market for those who can grow Columbian Gold, Panama Red, Thais......landraces, heirlooms.....those who can grow them well, and cure them properly. Same for old school, sifted and pressed hash.

Like everything else in life, over the years markets change, supply meets demand, and there will always be demand for quality, uniqueness....

Yeah it also depends on how much one uses. And what do we have to do, constantly follow the market and get ahead of it, negotiate, constantly telling the seller "I can get it cheaper....". Do I want to constantly haggle, shop around, pit sellers against each other, find new sellers......then what happens when the price starts going up?

When I was in my teens and 20s, 30+ years ago, I smoked weed all the time, every day. Even then, how much could I possibly need? A gram is many hits. $10 a day? $300 a month is like part of a budget. These days it would take me a week to go through a gram, maybe 2 weeks, but between extract carts and edibles.......I couldn't spend $20 a week if I tried to waste it. So if it's $18 a week or $23 a week......I really don't care. If I tried to consume it like I did when I was younger I'd never get anything done. I'd probably sleep 14 hours a day. ;)

I once grew because I was my only reliable supply. Now I grow because it's a hobby I like and I'm a pot snob. My preferred strains take 10-12 weeks to finish, and that just isn't done in the Michigan commercial grow space. Occasionally an acceptable sativa dom appears, and it's sold out in no time. The aesthetic qualities of the weed from dispensaries is mediocre, at best.

I'm sure many of you also have veggie gardens. For most, it's not because vegetables aren't available. Plants reward you for your attention.

This is why i had my propane company come get their tanks. Was getting 120 gallons at 5.89 a gallon from Nolans Propane, burns up in a month. The gas station up the street has a propane fill station from the same company, Nolans Propane, its 3.49 a gallon at the fill station..... so i just fill my own 100 pound tanks. And save 2.40 a gallon.

I once grew because I was my only reliable supply. Now I grow because it's a hobby I like and I'm a pot snob. My preferred strains take 10-12 weeks to finish, and that just isn't done in the Michigan commercial grow space. Occasionally an acceptable sativa dom appears, and it's sold out in no time. The aesthetic qualities of the weed from dispensaries is mediocre, at best.

I'm sure many of you also have veggie gardens. For most, it's not because vegetables aren't available. Plants reward you for your attention.

Agree... and it's nice to know what goes into your weed. I know they say it's regulated... but so is food and look how much pure garbage people put into thier bodies daily... so that doesn't give me confidence that I'm not smoking a bunch of chemicals. Plus it's a new industry. They hardly know what they're doing.

I am pretty lucky to have never had to smoke really bad weed... definitely smoked some bugs I'm sure lol. I always had older friends with the hook up or snuck some of my dad's good outdoor that his old-school mountain men friends grew, he bought it by the sac so he didn't miss it... though I suspect he knew lol... I grew my own first plant at 17 and the rest is history... I'm pushing 40, wouldn't consider myself a kid... I probably act like a kid regularly, but I'm really an 80 year old swamp witch at heart... and I'm starting to look the part too.

Dude, we are planning a trip to Colorado in May and I was looking at different dispos in Denver. I literally laughed out loud when I saw how cheap weed has become there. I'm kind of excited to see what they have. I've only personally been to a dispo once, in Massachusetts during a spontaneous trip to Maine. I couldn't understand why I had to show my ID like 4 times at different areas just to get in? The selections were broad but the quality was just OK. Turns out we didn't even need to stop bc the guy we met in Maine to buy a bunch of farm stuff turned out to also be a grower and he set us up. I had friends get med cannabis in Maryland and it was also of what I would consider average quality.

If anyone has any recommendations on anything awesome for when I'm in Colorado I'd love to hear it!

I am pretty lucky to have never had to smoke really bad weed... definitely smoked some bugs I'm sure lol. I always had older friends with the hook up or snuck some of my dad's good outdoor that his old-school mountain men friends grew, he bought it by the sac so he didn't miss it... though I suspect he knew lol... I grew my own first plant at 17 and the rest is history... I'm pushing 40, wouldn't consider myself a kid... I probably act like a kid regularly, but I'm really an 80 year old swamp witch at heart... and I'm starting to look the part too.

I've grandchildren pushing 40 lol so still a kid to me.....back in the late 60's early 70's we smoked anything we could get a hold of and a lot of it was pretty bad thinking back. The one brick of rubber infused smoke was so bad I can still taste it. Friends travelled to Mexico and back to Canada with it in a tire. Not the whole way but across the borders about 100 miles in total.........Ya warm infused rubber weed....mmmm

Lucky you! When I was a kid in Ohio we got good weed every year around Christmas time as the result of the harvests from Kentucky. Other than that it was Mexican brick basically until I got out of the Army and started growing indoors in 2009. I always had great connections but unless you were willing to drive out west and fill up a car and drive it back across all those unfriendly states, you had to wait until the KY harvest for good weed. It certainly was different not even that long ago.

Yeah this, absolutely. It's cool, it's fun, we're in control, we get to grow what we want, how we want. I'm also interested in unique, excellent strains, even if they're challenging. There's the connection with nature part of it too.

My husband on the other hand just had work done, he opted for dentures cause he’s a tightwad and man had he had hell! Twenty extractions, abscesses, dry sockets, broke bone in front under his sinuses, tons of heavy antibiotics and now thrush! He truly hates the dentist!

Oh my.....I hope he's ok, that's a lot. Other than shifting, I guess I'm lucky genetically, my teeth are healthy, I've onky had 1 cavity my entire life. My wife in the other hand has had sime root canals, 1 implant tooth.....she had braces as a kid. I think a lot of kids who got braces years ago, it's not easy to take care of your teeth as well with metal parts on them for a couple of years.
