Sky as long as you go home smiling, thats all that matters!!!!

Funk & Cob. I hike Loveland pass about as much as possible.. that is if J-fly don't got me on the sleds up at Vail pass or Deer Creek. We should get up for some puffs and pow this season?

Cob, Whats up with Hidden Valley? Sounds nice..
How far is the hike? Boot packed? Vertical feet/drop? How maintained.. Groomed?

It's Saint Mary's Glacier if I'm not mistaken.. just past idaho springs, def can ride year round if ya don't mind slush ice and rock..I've been in Aug before, just set up a little jib rail but it's fun.. Way down to hit some pow frankie!

Yeah me and some of the Never Summer crew went up to Mary's couple of times w/ rails etc. Never hiked in the winter?? Seems kinda short but so is Loveland. Always down for some turns Funk!!

I love St. Mary's Glacier..great place for hiking and camping, too. Been snowboarding at Vail and Breckenridge but truthfully..I suck at it! It is hard on the knees and I fell alot so I got bruises up and down my body. My friends are professionals and I felt bad that they had to wait for me on the slope. One day...I'll give it another try! But Colorado is famous for the ski resorts and fresh powdery snow. It is so beautiful here year round!

Dam smokey503 I knew a bunch a people that worked there..we prolly know each other? I see your in OR? me too.... love the cascades!!!

it's nice to ride with in-experienced folks.. Chance to ride switch and take a few falls with em..

Got my pass, my goats ready, and should have some golden goat ready just in time for ski season :party0033:

Yo funk, frankie, and everyone else... it's not the one at st mary's, it's just past estes. Here's the trail map and a link.

They don't do any maintenance, ie grooming etc. other than to clear the trees from the runs. It's a long ass hike to many of the runs, but well worth the experience IMO. I love it there.

Oh that hidden valley.. I was thinking Fall river road duh..

Hiking is for hippies. Ill be ridden the sled back in Spring Creek droppin pillows on my 158 sl . Never Summer for life. SCK all day. Summit County Kings. Snowboarding is my life. Been riding 100 days a year for the last 8 seasons. Love backcountry but can hang in the park too. My goal is to take the sleds up to Alaska for a month and ride the heli and drop some big mountain lines.

Anyone else on here got a snowmobile? 09 800 ski doo summit right here. It was 28 degrees this morning. Loveland should start snowmaking any day now. I know ill be there for onpening day!

LI larned to Board at Estes in 84-85 back when they made you get a permit to board the runs. Had to prove you could turn right left and stop, they made you take a class then gave you a photo ID.
Wolf Creek used to be my hangout back in the day, no permits were needed.
Don't board much except Eldora the last 5yrs.
Would love to tear it up with some of you this season.

Its a rip off if you pay tourist prices and eat on the mountain. Its free to ride the Gondola if you have a season pass. Love Vail my favorite mountain. Sure there are a lot of tourist but not where I ride and I like the eye candy too. With money comes hot chics and they are everywhere up there. Plus I have a free place to crash when I go up.

That's awesome. Having a place to stay is really nice, day trips, especially on the weekends, are hardly worth it for me anymore.

I moved here in '92 to go to school, and picked Boulder so I could ski as much as possible... Switched to snowboard in '94. I've spent A LOT of time at ski resorts...

These days, I don't get up there much, I won't go on weekends due to the crowds, and for that reason, started mountain biking more. There are a few resorts (WInter Park and Keystone) that are getting into the downhill mountain biking resort biz. It's a lot like snowboarding and skiing, def. give it a try sometime....

Frankie on the weekends it can be a little busy becuase the lower part of the mountain is a big sled hill for kids/families. But a few minutes up the hill is usually all to yourself. Sometimes they do search and rescue training or snowshoeing classes up there, but for the most part it's wide open.

funk, lmao there's like 25 hidden valleys in colorado :D

I got a couple Summit 800's and they only have about 300 miles on each of them, mostly becAUSE I just use them for Ice Fishing! I know, I know, I need to go ride them in the pow! They are powder beasts with the 2 inch paddles...........

i look forward to finding older, hikeable closer ski resort.

Agreed. I very rarely have issues at Vail. The problem is Keystone!!

Thanks for the info. Love hiking for my lines, love new spots. I'll be sure to check this place out this season.

Funk, I told one of my boys from NC the Hidden Valley/Fall River Rd. is where they make all the ranch.
