Well I figured I'd give it a try and see how things go with it. On paper it should work. The exhaust coming from the duct was enough to extinguish a flame so I figured I had good air flow. Now the filter was carbon or charcoal based so theoretically it should work. I also have some odor absorbing gel tubs and was thinking of putting in an air ionizer if needed. I can find one on Craigslist for under 50 bux. Now with all that and the fact that I only have 2 plants I'm hoping I have enough backup to my backup! Lol. I did buy a 4" fan with a carbon filter but it's a big heavy unit and big overkill for something like this so what else can I do?

They have really come along nice!

My DIY bucket scrubber works pretty good.

I use a metered bathroom sprayer also.
Worked better than ONA gel lol.

Hey Mike,

It's cool to build shit just to learn how it actually works... so how does it smell. Can you smell it at this point? I would like to know how much time I have.

Yeah you would think you could put a dead dude in there and not smellem for months, with the size of filter. Plants look good

When I had 5 plants in the box I could kinda smell something. Don't know how to explain it but imagine finely cut grass. Its kinda like a plant smell. After I put the filter on I didn't smell anything! To this point I still don't really smell the plants. Even when I open up the box. I'm assuming the buds aren't big enough to stink up the place but I will give a heads up on when that happens williandodgett. I also bought a commercial bathroom deodorizer that sprays a mist every 30 seconds just in case. Like i said,, with only 2 plants and all my odor control,, I'm hopin this won't be too stinky.

Hey dude I had to start using a diff username, it sounds cheezy, but it was necessary. Hell yeah bro! let me know when those girls start to stink. I don't even know exactly what day I'm on... but a rough estimate would be useful.

Week 7 ,,, 3rd week into flowering...

ok guys,, things are going good. getting steady growth from the girls. the buds are starting to fill in a bit more and the bottom shutes are finally reaching up to the top of the plant. i still have the tip tied down and im not sure if i should keep it tied down or cut the string holding it. i really dont spend too much time tending to them. i water them quickly everyday and take about 2-3 minutes checking them out. other than that, i let them be and let nature do its course! im about half way thru the process and cant wait to test out some homegrown bud!!!! please comment on post..

Lookin' good mike. Yeah if you flush your plants and they recover then it would be nute burn. If you flush for a week or so and they don't bounce back maybe there was a deficiency. The buds look good. Stinky?

Lol. I almost wrote that I was a dad yesterday,, too funny.. Yea,, when I watered them last night, I noticed that both plants were infested. And thinking about it, i know I wasn't careful at all when I removed the males from the bunch. Some pollen musta flew off them while removing. I shoulda put a plastic bag over the plant before cutting it down or something,, live n learn. That's what this process is about and it's definitely a learning experience. Rookie mistake! Anyways,, got 4 weeks to go till they are ready and I'm already thinking bout the next grow,, :)

week 8 ,,4th week of flowering,, not a good week

what a difference a week makes!!! last week everything looked great! the buds were getting nice n big and everything was cool. but somehow my 2 remaining plants got pollinated by the males.. not even sure which males did it.. but over the last week there has been an explosion of seeds growing in my nugs! im quite pissed off about it but its a lesson learned for a first time grower. i paid 80 bux for 10 seeds so ill at least save myself some $$ in the long run by harvesting some seeds. besides,, ill still have some weed to smoke once its all done n finished. this thread will be a good timeline for all you newbies out there to be careful and know what to look for.. THE WEED IS ALSO STARTING TO SMELL!! and i notice some white crystals on the leaves starting to appear... so here are the pics for week 8

week 5 of flowering..

nothing much to say today. things are moving along nicely. friggin seeds are really comin in. and getting more crystals on the buds. i bought these seeds online and on the package it says to harvest in 8-10 weeks. being it is week 5 and 3 more to go to the early stages of harvest do i need to start doing something differently? when do i feed with just water and start flushing the nutes out? will these finish earlier or later because of the seeds? I NEED ALL YOU SEASONED GROWERS TO GIVE ME ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT.. here are the pics for this weeks progress!

I think you just let them finish the last 3 or so and keep and eye on the trics and when they are mostly cloudy and amber is a good time to cut, more amber = more couch lock less = more buzzy. With no more pollen there should be only buds forming now, let them fill out and enjoy. You want the plants to allmost be all yellow to get out the N for better taste and burn, so some flush 2 weeks out some less. At the end of a flush water will be clear.

Looks good, are you sure those are seed pods forming and not swelling calyx swelling up. Just asking because some of the buds I have going are in late bloom and have some pods that are super swollen but do not have any seeds in them. Also If you have an 8-10 week your probably better cutting around weeks 9-10. Around week 7 1/2 or 8 I'd flush then feed molasses with aired out tap water (leave tap water to sit in an open container at least 16 hours to let the chlorine air dissolve) . (Blackstrap) Molasses will keep the plants fed for the last couple weeks and it's organic and sweet so it'll add some flavor to your bud as well as allow them to finish without being starved. If you do have seeds growing you can judge when to cut by when the seeds are done on the top buds. If you want fully matured bud the seeds will be brown and/ or tiger-striped and pretty much start popping out the flowers. The bud is usually really stoney by then. JMO

To Add: It looks like you have some nute burn going there. Maybe pull back on some of your nutes. Are you still using Nitrogen?
