Ok so this time i made sure no water or ice was forming from the butane, and then tried to add some water myself to the batch while whipping. I was a little worried about what it would do and have always before been trying to keep all water out of the batch but it actually seemed to help a little in the whipping in getting it all to the same consistancy. i also was concerned with the fact at how dark all my recent batches have been coming out so i was trying to figure out what i was doing different and then it came to me.Since getting my teapot, i have stopped using the lamp to get a low slow heat purge because the teapot should be able to do the same thing. Well i think that the light actually does something to the wax. I threw this latest batch up on the lamp and within an hour some of the thinner bits had started getting that nice golden color compared to the thicker ones which still looked that dark greenish color.

I cleaned up my double bubble and added that into the mix of my Erl Rig...

The second perk is doing wonders .... I may try to add a third!

I personally like your darker shatter looking stuff from a couple of posts ago the best. Darker in my opinion is a better thing to me......I run all my plants 70 days pluss so your not gonna see a clear trich on my stuff and any oil i make is not gonna be clear really at all. (dont really like the super "heady" stuff) But when we make Errl we dont whip it at all and some of my strains will automatically budder out instantly. This budder has a lighter look...but is no way different than the shatter. Just depends on the strain.

But Way to go man! your stuff looks super good! Happy tree Running!

So all of my stuff... every single batch you see pictured here, is all the exact same strain, Sour Diesel, and actually, all that SD trim was also sent through a tumbler to remove any kief before i get a hold of it. So each of the different types of waxes and erls you see are all done by different techniques and methods of purging, processing, and curing. This thread is pretty much to document all my experimentation with Sour D and the extraction processes for easy reference.

i am not as readily able to get the SD trim now due to the changing tastes of my friends who grow and give me their scraps to process. So actually , this batch that i am about to show here, is the first batch to have something other than SD trim in it. i ran out of SD trim after filling 2 tubes and i usually blast 4 tubes total per batch so i had to use some Larry OG trim for the last 2 tubes. The batch seemed to process the same as just SD alone but now that i have sampled this stuff, I can definately taste the LOG in it!

So i am sure i will get a hold of more SD trim, but the more everyone keeps saying about how the strain of product you use has a larger effect on the outcome of the end product, the more i keep thinking that i will have to do a different thread for each strain that i work with! Hahah LuLz! I was just envisioning myself in the future thinking about a certain wax and how i got it that way and then searching through a gaggle of different threads to find it. Oh man! I cannot WAIT till i can make some Durban wax! Just wait! I will definately be starting a new thread for my durban dabs!Oh i think that will have to be the thread title...Durban Dabs!

So this last batch is done with only Larry OG nugs....13g or so. I also used power 7x refined butane.

Sounds rough, this is an affordable way to vape 710 in just about any pipe. "The Dab Tray" Sold online.

could you use a heating pad instead? then you can dial in the exact temp when purging..i had thought higher temps would burn off terpines and remove taste if heated too high,,,,like over 140F,,,, and also read that less/no whipping would help preserve taste as well, though this may only apply when you are using fresh bud a couple weeks old...

have you noticed any one method..ie wax/erl/shatter/honeycomb givina better taste high? or its personal preference as to how you use it which determines how you process it maybe,,,like its easier maybe to use honeycomb while out, but @ home dabs of erl are best....i dont hava rig yet and jus smearing rollin papprs with erl and need to order a rig asap......i like that vacuum purging but $ is tight to buy it now.... but i think temp during purging has astrong play in this process

i have found that temp during purging is very important...i rushed a batch last night and it never got chunky..some of best batchs,,it has been 100degrees outside and i was on a warm bath at the same time...its badass to watch it turn from erl to wax

Here a recrystallized version of mmj. True shatter. Solid @ room temp, doesn't melt all sticky on your fingers, scfe makes this a repeatable consistantly crystallizes under the right conditions. Slow to cool, hit w anhydrous ethyl alcohol ice cold as it dries and completes its lattice structure.View attachment 247331

just ran some green crack trim from my buddys harvest. we got 7 grams of dark shatter from about 3oz of trim a baby nugs. this oil turned into a hard shatter very quickly. i vac purged at around 110-120 degrees until the oil is completley stabel.

now thats what im talkin bout. care to share some of your process? if you can get that heat down to a max of 110 then you maximize the terp profile but that looks dank as fuck from trim.

You guys are right. Tighten up a bit , then post. What you guys think shatter is I hope isn't. A frozen fraud. What I'm making is cannabinol. If your under 50 years old, you not have a clue what I'm talking about. Some of you know, though.

I try to repeat the same purging prosess every time so that when i get different consistencys i know its from the strain and not beacuse i changed my process. i always do my first 3-4 purges with no heat until the oil forms a stabel muffin and wont collapse after you release the vacuum. ill then add heat and melt the oil back into a sap and continue to vacuum until the oil is completly stable at whatever temps im working with.
