I had just retired and was looking for something to do, working for the forest service was at mind. (they piss test) All of a sudden word came down in Colo that Obama said the fed wouldn't cross state laws regarding mmj. Fuck the forest service I knew what I was going to do to keep myself busy.

Now how I feel about the govt.....that's a different subject.

I agree with y0u, the people and the movement by the people will free us of the laws that bind us now.

Been there, done that. Random testing the whole time I was employed by DirecTv. I knew ahead of time so I just looked at it as X- amount of time for X-amount of money. I made it well worth my time... Hated every day of it.

I am sorry homie but this is wrong.

Thank goodness SOMEONE realizes this.

It's very simple:

In this country, the only people who matter (generally) in terms of what laws we all have to abide by are:

1. The United States Congress
2. Your state's congress.

To a lesser degree you have the president, and the supreme court--but THESE bodies are the "checks and balances" we always hear about.

Right now the federal congress by way of fillibuster has decided to turn itself into a check/balance rather than doing its intended job--churning out legislation.

Their job can take the form of:

1. Trimming the fat off old un-needed laws and policies, or ones which don't work.
2. Creating new laws and policies to deal with the world and its economy as it changes--so that we may adapt (this is necessary on a quarter-to-quarter basis in order for a modern economy to compete with China).

In reality all the president does is sign off on what they do, should they so happen to figure out what they're supposed to do. He proposes new policy and is supposed to broker deals to that end, however his MAIN obligation to this country and his elected office is to be the Commander-in-Chief of the US Military Forces.

It's a job he's done quite well, I might add.

People often mistake his commander-in-chief title to mean that he is is the commander-in-chief of our nation, and thus is on the hook for its failings. To the contrary, WE ARE THE FUCKING COMMANDER OF OUR NATION, and

WE THE PEOPLE
are fucking it all up.

We keep electing all these shithead career politician senators and congressmen, and then we wonder why nothing changes.

Nothing changes because they drive the boat, and they've been keeping you busy hating the president.

The single best thing we as a nation could do for future generations is to ensure that term limits are imposed on congressmen and senators as soon as possible. Understanding who holds the power in our country and ACTING LIKE IT, would help a fuckton as well.

Grid lock in our body of economic, socio-political, and legal change in this country is NOT A FUCKING OPTION.

I'm a liberal, yes. I think we should go with a leftist fiscal policy. However, the next time a republican president is in power--I don't think it should be the policy of democrats to fillbuster him into oblivion and prevent adaptations in our legal code for the changing world.

I don't think purposeful stagnation of the economy should be on the table. Sadly, for both sides, it is.

THIS, is what has to change. Nothing less, nothing more. The job is for them to come to an agreement, not figure out the best way to disagree--or how to win the most votes amongst all the drama. We must get this shit out of D.C (and our state legislatures), and we have the power to make it happen.

Be you republican or democrat, see the truth and realize that this presidential race won't matter unless we start electing better congressmen.

The president cannot do a fucking thing non militarily and beyond the scope of executive orders and emergency waivers to change the direction of this country without a willing congress behind him--doesn't matter who the guy is or what he's planning to do.

I leave you with this:

You may think your candidate is "better", but that's basically the difference between a dogshit milkshake and a dogshit milkshake w/ gummy bears. Still tastes like shit.

Me, I'm gonna order the blueberry pie. I don't care if the waitress tells me they're out. I'm just not interested in any dogshit milkshake, with, or without sprinkles. And I'm going to keep asking for the pie. If they want my money, they're eventually going to have to give me pie.

The problem with the jobs obama wants to make or did make, they are all goverment jobs, which only cost everyone more money. Or goverment contract jobs that cost everyone more money and wont be there after the job is done, Or goverment subsidized companys, we all now how that went. LOL
If they want to make real jobs for us, they need to stop sending them over seas and put tariffs on products made in china, just like they do to us. Give tax breaks for companys who use us made products, ect. What ever it takes to save american made products. Its ureal how many companys are going over seas, Or go out of business because of imports. This is one of the biggest problems right now, and Obama is going to make it alot worse if we give him 4 more. Romeny will most likey get the private sector going alot better. Doesnt mean i wannt Romney to win, Ill admit i voted for obama, This time i im writing in Ron paul.

You guys are hilarious... My earlier posts in this very thread make remarks about the dangers of absolute statements and applying a blanket style approach to assessing complex realities, so I structured that comment purposely absolutist to get you birds chirping and I have to say it is fun to read the music. I feel like I'm listening to the radio when I hear the rhetoric and unoriginal perceptions being spewed by some here.

So I got called an idiot and a republican. Lol... Republican?! Really?! You seriously lack creativity and have clearly forgotten (i.e. disregarded because it doesn't fit your current worldview) the part about my perception/standpoint that those distinctions are purely symbolic, one more of the great polarizing distractions of a slave state control system. As for the idiot remark, thanks for proving others point that you are an obtuse character... no respect--no manners. But, It's ok Squig, I remember what it was like when I knew everything, and how superior I felt to all others who had opposing viewpoints... You'll grow up one day, kid.

Since you recommended some reading for me, I make the same offer, from which I highlight a selection that reminds me of this type of lazy, narrow minded perceptions with which you validate your smugness:

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds [...] With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day".

Most of the jobs created have been a payback to unions for supporting him,a 250 million dollar freeway overpass job funded by federal money only employs about 60 union workers, now imagine that same 250 million injected into private sector small business,it would create a shit ton of jobs not to mention grow the economy.I agree with tariffs on overseas goods and companys who move out of our country, gotta do what you gotta do.Most people dont understand that other countries are doing it to us right now, including china who just does it underhandedly while at the same time exporting ALL our natural resources to make it happen. If you were to emigrate to mexico(illegally or legally, doesnt matter)you are NOT elgible for ANYTHING,no welfare ,food stamps, medical, nada in fact you will be jailed, tried and deported after your sentence is up if you get one,you have NO rights there but they can come here, take american jobs even if its one at jack in the box that some high school kid would have gotten and get FREE healthcare, assistance and food stamps WTF is wrong with this picture?Ill tell you what there is no RECIPROCITY,in other words you get what you give,Instead it is take, take, take, there are radio shows that originate in TJ that teach illegal aliens how to game the system in the us,this is OK?hell no its not.
Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?Are your groceries and gasoline cheaper? Are more or less people in your family employed than they were 4 years ago?Do you have more savings than you did 4 years ago?Are you happy with the way government runs now compared to 4 years ago?Im not and im not happy with barack obamas performance, almost everything he does goes against my beleifs so NO vote for him and mitt romney is the same to me although to be fair he has not even had a chance yet so you never know,we can look at obamas record though and it sucks and dont blame it on the republicans either, presidents are supposed to be statesman and bi partisan so if you cant get along and find a way to get it done your a shitty president who cant get the job done, same for a republican if he was in office.
I liked ron paul because i felt he was truthful and we need some radical changes AND we need to quit fucking war mongering in countries that dont even want us there.I dont know who i will vote for but i can tell you it will not be obama or romney,I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils.

If you watched Obamas speech last night it was the same as 4 years ago. All hot air. He said he would add 500,000 manufacturing jobs in the next 4 years. How??? There have been 500,000 manufacturing jobs lost in his first 4 years. He sounds great but he is spending TRILLIONS of dollars we don't have. As an American citizen I would be compelled to ponder what our future will look like if we don't stop using our credit cards with no limit. It might feel good today but the bill collector is out there and isn't going away.

Yep, Carlin had it right, they spend all their time fucking the public and the media knows they are spouting b.s. but they do it because if they were to take on the owners they'd be dead before dinner is ready....

The only change we will see as citizens is the corporations lobbying for their change, def time for a civil war atleast...but americans are so fat they aren't as hungry for real change, they seem to just like hearing the words as that is enough for their lazy asses..

only problem is they already have most people's money....your gonna be waiting for the blueberry pie, but I do respect your selection as blueberry pie beats a dogshit milkshake anyday!!

George Carlin was one of my favorite comedians of all time, but that wasn't funny!!! Good post.
Wasn't meant to be funny... I believe Americans are asleep enjoing the dream. Warren Buffett lays out A plan at the bottom of the page in the link I provided with that clip. Could it really be that EZ and we're just asleep at the wheel?

As for the idiot remark, thanks for proving others point that you are an obtuse character... no respect--no manners. But, It's ok Squig, I remember what it was like when I knew everything, and how superior I felt to all others who had opposing viewpoints... You'll grow up one day, kid.

As for the idiot remark--it wasn't meant to be directed specifically at you (although I did find your opinion to be severely lacking in critical thinking). This was intended as a general statement, that when it comes to situations like this often times it feels like the best thing to do is call someone an idiot--but that's almost never the proper response.

Hence why I said "at least then I can call people idiots when they're being idiots."

That implies that I can't say as much in this situation--and I really can't. I don't know what your full breadth or lack of knowledge covers--what you know or don't.

It's about the same way as you don't know whether or not I feel superior to people who oppose me, or that I believe know everything. In fact, one of the main things I do in discussions like these is try to pop in and be the guy that shows, hey--you can't know everything.

I don't know everything, that is NOT POSSIBLE. It's part of why its a total farse that any group of 400ish men (congress) can fully understand and respond to the complexity of our economy. That is a problem too complex for even 400 of the world's best and brightest--let alone these fucks we've got in there now.

Obama said the other night: "neither democrats nor republicans have a monopoly on wisdom," and I believe that. I know a HUGE amount of ignorant democrats (I AM from the south side of Chicago after all). When I say "republicans" I generally mean it to mean the republican congress. If I'm talking voters I have to give about 75% of the population a D- in terms of knowing the issues--regardless of party. We do live in a country of idiots, unfortunately.

So no, I don't think you're an idiot for your political views--even if I do find those views idiotic.

Your views will depend on your situation, and your experience. That's not something I can make a judgment on, you have to do that.

However, when you make a statement like the one you did--which is patently untrue--it should behoove someone who is (obviously) better informed than you to let you know that you're wrong. You are.

The government of any state has every bit as much to do with MMJ policies being rolled out as the citizens do. That is just the way this country works. It may or may not be idiotic to not know that--depending on your situation. However, it IS a position of ignorance which believes that is the case (MMJ has come from people only--government has nothing to do with it in a positive sense).

That like if you said 2+2 is 5, I correct you and tell you its 4 and that it's perhaps a bit frustrating to deal with so many people in the world who think it is 5 such that it makes me want to call them idiots sometimes (even though I can't in this context). This offends you and you make all sorts of assumptions about me and my character.

I can see where the misunderstanding arose from, and perhaps I should choose my words more deliberately in the future--I meant no harm in any case.

That said, you're still wrong about what you said. Making me out to be the bad guy doesn't change the un-truth of your argument. This is an ad hominem fallacy and doesn't hold water.
