Trimming Leaves At End Of Flower

Yeah sugar leafs definitely produce some energy...but their ability to do so is significantly hindered by the layer of trichomes. The frostier the girls are, the less those leaves are able to catch light.

Trimming Leaves At End Of Flower

I know there are lots of opinions on both sides of this fence. And I've seen plenty anecdotal evidence that would suggest the best results come from extensive defoliation. I've seen just as much anecdotal evidence that it does more harm than good. The reason I don't trim unless necessary is...

Trimming Leaves At End Of Flower

I also want to mention that when I do trim leaves, it's out of necessity. I don't subscribe to the idea that removing fan leaves stops production of leafy material. In fact, the opposite is true - cutting fan leaves can cause the plant to increase development of new leaf material to make up for...

Trimming Leaves At End Of Flower

I guess the other factor for me would be how well my light penetrates. With LEDs, I tend to have to defoliate more.

Trimming Leaves At End Of Flower

For me, it depends on my setup. If I have the space, I leave the leaves alone as much as possible. If I'm in a tight closet-type grow, I defoliate to improve air movement and open the canopy so light penetrates better. But I'm particular in how I defoliate. I've never gone to the extreme of...

Wtf Leaves Curling Up And Down?

Just looked closer at your second picture. Are the new leaves right at the top of the plant blistery? Or is this just the lighting?

Wtf Leaves Curling Up And Down?

Thanks for the extra pics. I see what you're talking about now. A couple things immediately come to mind. Either it's some sort of root problem personifying as a nutrient issue, or there is a nutrient issue (likely caused by pH being slightly on the high side), or it's a watering issue...

    Topping

Considering the way I was using "idea" you could call it a notion. Thanks for the sarcasm regarding wish. I guess plants don't recover at night.

Wtf Leaves Curling Up And Down?

The most common reason for seeing the claw is a nitrogen toxicity.

Wtf Leaves Curling Up And Down?

Your pH seems to be slightly on the high side for soil. Some of your leave curl could be due to lockout caused by high pH. This could lock out a whole slew of nutrients.

I also tend to do my topping and taking cuttings just before lights out. I like the idea that the girls have recovery time overnight after stressing them out.

Equipment Failure Resulted In Lights On For 72 Hours During Flower...i'd Value Your Advice

The silver lining of my situation is that, despite the 72 hours of no dark period, I didn't have to harvest EVERYTHING early. I've still gotten a decent harvest from the parts of the plant that were a bit further from the light and didn't get scorched. So, all is definitely not lost! You should...

    Grow Tent

If you have the ability to vent to the old bathroom fan or to an adjacent room, that would be preferable. But it's not the end of the world if you have to vent into the same room. You'll just have more heat to deal with and may want to find a way to get fresh air into that room so that the air...
