Hi mate..oh your in soil.for a minute i thought you were in coco/perlite.sorry brother cant help you with that. I do have an experienced friend who waters every other day using pro mix hp under gavita 1700e led.has quite very informative and thorough grow diaries here which you could learn a great deal from..but sadly hes not on here anymore ..checkout sshz's grows under gavita 1700e.just type in the search bar and they should come up.im reasonbly sure hes running 3-4 gal pots..12plants vegged for 5 weeks in 4x4 room....huuges yields..Thank you for the post Madmax, I was thinking of vegging for roughly 5 weeks also. I do understand the value of a healthy rooting system and also am trying to figure out the best size pots that would allow watering to be as efficient as possible. I have been reading and see that many growers are only watering every other day. On my 1st run I water every day and the grow seems to be doing ok for the 1st try. I have also read on many site that is you water as often as I have been, there is a chance the rooting system doesn’t stretch as much because it isn’t searching for water and could stunt the size. So the biggest question is does the size of the pot and watering of that size pot make for a better grow in your experience? I do not mind watering every day as I am enjoying growing but would really like to maximize that entire process. I did and still do worry about over or under watering and would love tthao know the best way. I am growing in soil (roots organic). Thank you for the advice in advance.
I’m in Mexico and just picked up this soil from a local Home Depot and seemed to work great for my plant. I’m personally going to give this one another go for my next run because I love how it holds the moisture. The only thing I add is a tobacco dust to the top soil every other feeding during veg and the first 3 weeks of flower. That helps with the nitrogen, ph balance and pestsSchwifty, I would like to know more about soil as well. I by no means am stuck to growing in the roots organic. I actually have not bought the soil yet for my 2nd grow other than the little I had left from the first that I planted the seeds in. I did like it but there are only enough nutes in that coco based soil for roughly 10 days up to 21 but most sites I read they start adding nutes around day 10. What organic did you use by the way? Would love to use the best premade as I don’t want to mess with making my own at this time. Would rather purchase one already mixed by someone much smarter than me right now.
Also thank you on the advice on the pots and watering. Looking forward to learning more.
Tobacco dust? I seem to be sleeping on that. Very interesting may have to steal that! I looked up all the “Super Soils” today and didn’t realize the market there is out for that. Wow…. But I did see one I am extremely interested in FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil. Seems like it is right up my alley. Kind of simple and I can still mess around a little with things like Tobacco dust and learn a little along the way. Then continue using Bio Bloom and then Top Max in the flowering stage. Am really happy with those 2 flowering nutrients. A little expensive but I like the results I am getting with those nutrients.I’m in Mexico and just picked up this soil from a local Home Depot and seemed to work great for my plant. I am so using it!!!! That is perfect, now for me to decide 4 or 5 gallon pots. Here’s from an article I have a PDF but can’t se to upload it but here’s a couple snippets. The only nutes I have is open sesame, beastie Bloomz and cha Ching from fox farms
You should be more than proud man, keep up the great work! Everything is looking greatUpdate for the evening.
1st picture is of the girls.
My brothers 6 girls we have decided that we are going to give one girl another day before calling her finished. Not much more action on her today but she definitely isn’t dead. Maybe this is the evening she decides to take a little jump away from the soil finally. He has the other replacement Tut seed in a napkin, it has cracked but not a long enough tap root so he decided to let it stay as is and he will plant it tomorrow.
My 6 seem to be doing fine and look like they may start working on their set of 3 leaves by tomorrow. Looks like I can barely see them starting to form.
Pic 2 is what the tent looked like a few days before we decided to start this run sooner. Thought we would finish grow 1 and dry in the small tent and then start 2 in our 4x4’s but we got to excited and wanted to start with grow 2 in our 4x4’s with actual 2 week old plants. Trying to flip them sooner in our big tents and simply just go from the small to the big and the big to the small to dry. Sounds good again in theory, will let you know if it was a good idea here shortly. We do have a small backup plan in case they aren’t all ready the same day. It’s short term so let’s hope they are at least close to the same day. Anyways that’s what it looked like, I said we will slowly improve that tent over the next few months and we have started with a few small things. Notice the awesome big black surge protector on the floor in picture 3. Well as nice as it is it is taking up way to much floor space so I went with a thinner one as you can see in picture 4 and zip tied it down to where I think I like it but still am not finished so I do not want to trim the ends off the zip ties to make it look better. Tucked in a few cords, only have a few zip ties left so I haven’t zip tied the cords behind the tent poles yet, but cleaned it up some. Also cleaned up the lights ropes a little. Will completely switch those ropes out soon as I get to a store with some adjustable ropes.

The main growing tent, my small one will never be this nice but I would like it to be close to the first one by the spring. May do more with the 3x3 for future auto flowers and cloning.
The video shows my first grow and I know it isn’t the greatest but we sure are proud of our grows seeing how we knew absolutely nothing other than we wanted to try. Will get a video of my brothers this weekend when I go over his house. Well that wraps it up for the night. If you made it to the bottom of this then all I can say is wow.
Nice! Make sure to stop adding any extra to the top soil 4 weeks minimum before you finish. Tobacco dust does have nicotine and will need a few weeks to filter out completely.I am so using it!!!! That is perfect, now for me to decide 4 or 5 gallon pots.
