Really? Plants have evolved for millions of years under a 24 day but their biology doesn't work well under that? They can only consume starches during darkness? If what you are saying were true, then 24/hr light schedules during veg should kill the plants. We don't see that.

18 hrs of light builds up heat that isn't measured by a thermometer? Light stresses plants? Who would have thunk that thousands of growers that have seen their yields increasing as light increased are all wrong?

Citation, please. Your statements make no sense.
Also like to add, in natural conditions of 17/7 cycle it would make no sense to grow leafs during day light hours considering that's how they collect light. If leaves grow when the light is gone they will be bigger when light comes back and able to collect more and more as days pass. It's why you see a lot of growth during dark hours. Other examples of counterintuitive growth is re-potting, it might seem like a good idea to go with more is better and start with big pot but in reality having restrictions helps the plant. A 6/2 would give you the most light by also stimulating the aforementioned growth response in dark hours. You still get 18 hours but the growth explodes due to the stimulating environment (plants dont like stale, water or "stale" light but they would make due any way as hest as possible). To clarify I'm going to test this fully on my next grow
