Those are 30 gallon smart pots. Mix is 70% coco and 30% perlite. As fast as they grew I'm seriously contemplating 45 gallon size for next time.

Homie-
I say forget the 45 and grow a fricken Sequoia in a 65 GAL.

update...

Ok, today I did a bunch of little things like cutting metal from the fencing to increase holes to 4x4. I figure I'd do the critical parts first, and with as much time as I spend in my room I should be good in a week or so of opening up the fencing.

Invictus...as soon as we have Medical Sequoia farms I'm all in with you. I'm actually gonna switch to growing all of my mothers in 30 gallon smart pots. Or the Prune Pots which are about half price.

So today with it being the first whole 24 hours of 12/12 I've started using the Earth Juice Catalyst at 15ml/gal. My mentor first turned me on to the product years ago. The shit works like crazy...Also, I've included a product called Vermaplex. Which is a concentrated casting tea made from very, very, very high grade castings. This stuff is already high in enzymes and beneficials. I use it at 5ml/gal. Its just one of a few ways that I get beneficials in the media. My goal other than a great yield with only 4 plants is to have that 30 gallon smart pot be one entire root ball.

I get it locally at my hydro store. It can be found in larger nurseries or at vermaplexstore.com

day 4 of 12/12

Here is the latest pic...

Here's the nute regimen:
Cutting Edge Solutions
CalMAX (special custom cal mag I'm testing)
Roots Excel
Bioweed from GH Organics(also testing Black sea Kelp from Vermiplexstore.com I think).

Every Sunday plants get Black Sea Kelp and Great White (also testing private lable myco product for upcoming fertilizer line).

Using 30 Gallon Smart Pots (because Chef said I could NEVER fill it up with roots). 70/30 Coco and perlite mix I have been using for years. Right now they are hand watered daily with a FEED, FEED, WATER regimen. When filling the Smart Pots I used Plant Success Granular and Humic Shale that too is in testing. Humic Shale definitely adds a sheen to the leaves, makes the plants smell more, and creates a stockier plant with heavier and stronger limbs. Stuff looks just like coal.

It's late and my EVO is tripping so I'll post pics tomorrow.

update...

Ok sorry no pics. It seems the EVO gets stingy when the storage is low. I'll take care of it share the new pics ASAP.

Plants are at 9 days of 12/12. Since the last update I have:
-progressively switched to flowering formula.
-sat in the room during lights out to observe any light leaks. Then patched pin hole leaks.
Also used electrical tape to cover any red or green indicator or power "on" light on power strips, timers, dehumidifier.
-added foxfarm sledgehammer to feeding regimen. It's a yucca based adaptive and used as a wetting agent. I use this to insure that the 30 gallons of media get fully drenched!
-been pulling branches through the fencing as the reach out for the side lighting.
-supercropped the tallest plants as they were nearing 7ft during first week of 12/12.

One thing I can say is, "these girls are huge!"...hindsight being what it is, I would recommend installing cages ASAP so that the branches remain spread out and clustered together. I see that I'm gonna have to strategically remove fan leaves when its time.

Stayed tuned for pics.

Really nice ape I love coco myself the growth is what's amazing its like hydro lol...I'm tryin to decide what nute regimen and line I'm gonna put together for em I ran all canna last time and had pretty good results but I'm always down to make things more available for em thru diff recipes lol..just started using roots excell on my cuts that just came out the cloner I've been hearin nsane things about it from evryone that's used it,those are some sick lookin monsters u got goin bro keep up the high level work!

just checked out this thread, been looking at doing a grow similiar to this for some time now, have never had good succes with larger plants so im very hesitant. I am gonna keep an eye on this to see whats up. Thanks for posting good shit, plus its so easy to read your threads, a literate person makes the learning curve a nicer ride!

If you really prefer the fencing over yo-yo's ,next time frame it in 3/4" pvc with 45* fitting. I drill a hole in them assembled then run a wire tie through it so it won't back out. Then wire tie some plastic 4"x4" fencing around it. Breaks down into a bag.
Did you clean up the bottom of the bush and say the last ten inches of the branch. I think that gives your plants better ventilation. I use more floor fans then wall fans. Looks like your working them well but I think between weeks 3-5 most people have problems with their plants. Where the bushes become trees. So keep an eye out for deficiencies to pop up. Enjoy your girls. JK

pics!

What are you waiting for bro? We want pics ;-)
Get that Nat gas burner going yet?

How much do the bbk typically stretch during flowering?

I've decided on running three raskal og's and a sour dubble...the dub will likely go in to the flowering room a couple weeks after the fire's. I know the fire stretches like crazy. Any input on the dub and how much she stretches? Really want to get it right...not too big not too small ya know?

Btw...thanks for the tip on adding humic shale to the medium. My results are insane! Definitely taking things to the next level as far as taste/smell are concerned. Humic shale and some beneficial bacteria/mycorrhizae and people swear its 100% organic :-) Hard for some to believe im using chem nutes as a base fertilizer.

for real?

Jailsco-thanks for the input. I will go ahead and trim up the bottoms. I've got at least 4 more oscillation fans for the room. I'll keep an eye out for deficiencies as I flower. Hopefully the regular flush and the full nute regimen will prove beneficial. I'm hoping these large containers prove to be ample enough to grow real trees in for 3 months.

Lumpy-thanks bro. I like to share what I've learned. The raw humics more than proved their worth to me in vigor, smell, and taste. Has really marde me rethink ferts and hydroponics all together. I sort of think of it being "hydro imitating nature". Growing the rascal cut and the tahoe using humics convinced me. No longer did I see flimsy plants barely able to hold up their own flowers. I also saw my rooting success with them increase with a time of usually 8-10 days. Glad to hear u too saw an increase in flower quality, cuz as u know I already thought your Larry flowers were top notch.

Brotherewrl-thanks man! The autocorrection on my EVO is missing me off though. As a former high school teacher I'm a sticker for grammar!

As I watch a true purist Grow...knowing the face,smile....APE we miss u down here...

oh..My Corn tree missed the world record by 22inches...I saved some seeds for ya.

GREAT GROW..its great to see nothing can keep your spirit down.:banana1sv6:

Pics!

Trailer Trash-appreciate the kind words. It's people like yourself and that wonderful Socal weather as to when the time is right I'll return to Socal.

In the meantime keep your eye out for ELITE GARDEN CENTER opening soon. We got clearance from the city and the zoning commission. And I signed the new lease about 30 minutes ago. And our landlord is 100% behind us!

Now to our regular scheduled program:
Here are the pics folks.
1st is at day 4 of flower...please notice the immense size.
The rest are various shots at day 9 of 12/12:

First two pics are of the same plant just 5 days apart. If you look at the screen you can see where I cut out the fencing to allow myself a place to easily water.

In the last pic please notice how "small" that 30 gallon container looks inside the screened area. I think the 30s are awesome! But only time will tell if the yield is good for me.

For some reason the look of these plants remind of watching Sigmund the Sea Monster when I was a kid in the 70s!

Does anyone think I can pull 1.5lbs/1000 watts? :-)

In the next couple of days the halides will be lit and the ducting completed.

Sigmond...

Told ya!

To me it seems like cages bunch up your plants too much, restricts light, air movement. Going home tomorrow and surf for ten days, hope to see no gaps when I get back. JK
Get some floor fans to help with circulation and to kick up the c02 when you get that going.

To the guy who wants to grow sour dub as trees please send me a pic if you do that, she has killer flavor but she is a chaparra. JK

Wow, helluva room ya got there.

first time in here, i'll be poppin in and out if ya don't mind.

nice pointers...

Tonight ill be hooking up all the ducting and the homemade light controller. will also clean up the bottoms. Sfzoo-thanks for stopping in.
