@Aqua Man is there a scientific trial available somewhere involving measurements of CO2 in the rhizosphere in relation to a growth inhibitory effect.
Do the CO2 levels maybe reach a peak and become toxic, maybe to MOs more strongly...?

Regarding the triac:
The dillution effect is been spoken of in a few studies I read so far. There was one with it about how high-N reduces Cannabinoid-levels. But it was from a relatively unfavourable increase in inner budmass... the net-cannabinoid mass didn't change like that.

Yeah i just can’t remember where it was… but i ran across it while reading studies of the impacts of o2 in both the rootzone and atmosphere.

There are limited studies and most are fairly old by comparison to what we see in cannabis studies. The topic seemed to be almost abandoned for some time in the scientific community.

I do know however bruce bugbee is doing some studies on o2 and im not sure if anything has been released data wise there yet as I haven’t done much research in the past few months.

It was the evidence found in those studies that led me to set out to accomplish what i am currently working on now with my systems. Increased o2 in the rootzone…. Decreased o2 in the atmosphere.

I finally got around to making some Homemade Hammerhead using Bill's recipe. If anybody out there is using it as well, I'm curious how much, if any you pull back on the 3/2/1?

I kinda did his recipe MKP at 50-80-ppm and SOP at 100-150ppm at the 5th week till harvest. buds was nice and dense.

Billfarthing has vanished from this site from what I can tell. He has posted the recipe on multiple sites with little tweaks here and there. I probably spent a good 2 weeks at the end of 2021 researching nutrients. I switched from Athena dry to Jacks because of some issues I was having. Not getting into that on here.
The home made hammer Head is week 4-6, it might be different on here but listed that way on another site.
I run sealed rooms, ebb and flow hydro, CO2 and environmental controls. With commercial LEDs. Please do not ask about lights. Too many opinions on the site so best to not bring those up. But if you are having a calcium issue consider using pure cal in place of the calcium nitrate from late veg to like week 3 or 4 of flower. It can help a lot. Secondly, Jacks has a couple of additional items to consider. Their clone/starter nutrient bag is great for small plants. Secondly they offer a product for the first week of flower that will shave 2 or 3 days off of bud set.
Monosilic acid, kelp and fulvic acid are key to this recipe. I run sterile so I foliar kelp and fulvic. I do not use humid acid as my understanding is it is helpful in breaking down organic material and does not have a place in hydro.
Follow the recipe and concentrate on the other aspects of the grow not so much the nutrients. It all has a place but in the end the plant will grow it just comes down to how well and that is up to the grower

I had a recent thought to share with you. Well we have numerous nutrient companies selling PK booster for flower. Which is well ?????????
Anyways when was the last time you saw one of them sell a veg booster. Say an N Booster. I mean if we need all this extra P&K in flower do we not need extra N in Veg?
See this poses an interesting idea because that is all it can ever become is an idea. Why? Because you cannot really boost N because you get Nitrogen toxicity. So while they might try it, in the long run it will not have much more N because it cannot.
So does the plant need all this extra PK in flower? Issue samples are the answer to that one.
I recently cut down some plants that I have been running for years. Once I switched to Jacks and the recipe no more hollow stems. More on that one to come

Awesome, thanks for the info!! I am currently having calcium issues (also using commercial LEDs), but running Dyna-Grow. I’m not sealed with CO2 (yet), but my ambient CO2 ppm hovers around 1100.

Any reason not to switch to pure cal entirely for this recipe?

Yeah i think we shift ratios far more than needed in the name of profits… i never had good results running anything past transition ratios. My growth rates are usually pretty up there and i can see any issues that arise usually very quickly because the fact the faster your growth rates the more it exposes your weaknesses in both environment and nutrients.

Imo while needs change slightly they dont change all that much. I can say with great confidence that the whole massive shift in nutrient ratios is largely a manufactured belief driven by profits.

Thats not to say its completely nonsense but rather grossly exaggerated as are most things cannabis.

You know a little helps so more must be better kinda mentally

I am not sold on running higher Calcium levels all the way thru flower. I did it with a strain I have probably grown to finish about 15 times. I also think I went overboard adding extra cal to fix things which likely cause more issues. The fan leaves have only gotten worse and since no more are really popping out it’s hard to say if I actually fixed anything. But I’m stoned and rambling now.

Jacks clone seedling first week in Veg
Balling on a Budget with Pure Cal. Week 1 of flower I am running Jacks 10-20-30 bloom week 1. Than I switch back to Jacks hydro and ballin on a budget with Pure Cal for 2 weeks than I will change it up to Calcium Nitrate

Green planet massive for the triacontanol in it from week 1-5 flower is what ill be doing. I can tell you it will increase the bulk and stretch alot.

Heard some reports of lower thc if run to the end as many who use it do. I cannot confirm that but do believe that’s possible

I dont pay any attention to it.ive pretty much had hollow stems since i started growing and dont think anything of it..i thought its just there natural process to have it..if they are not spose to my yields arnt affected by it.

I think I read somewhere that he is a salesman for Mr. Fulvic? Maybe in this thread? Either way, the recipe works great if you work it right and I suppose whatever company owns Mr. Fulvic is probably pretty happy with the boost in sales. Everywhere I have found Mr. Farthing posting about this or similar recipes, he gets a ton of grateful growers commenting. I am one of them!

Pure cal is a trade name. I am not sure of the elemental breakdown
