looks like HID is pulling ahead a little? Hard to tell ;)
All looks good though, great job
If possible (and if you want the best results with LED), keep the temp at 85 degrees. 76 degrees will actually stunt the growth rate with LED, as it slows the rate of transpiration. HID is a different story, but with LED you want the heat! ;)
maby this is why they say to veg wit mh? idk but that led supprised me.
sick test and i wish there was a mh in there jus fo comparison.
hoppfully the hps kills the rest of flower.lol
BOSSMAN88188, Which LED are you doing this test with? What company are they from? And what is a bad boy? Your plants are looking very good! Thank you, for your answers in advance! monkey5
I have one from LEDGirl. I am doing a test thread on them. Never used them before. Joker and I have the same size light 126w and have test threads. I can't answer the other questions until next year.
If these ever hit mainstream, I think someone that was willing to run the risk of producing large quantities at say on a 30% profit margin it might be worth it, but I think sulfer Plasma will take over by the time that could happen.
I did notice the bamboo tomato stake method. I got it from somebody else. It does work good too. They can't bend the bamboo up like they can string, thin wire or netting.
I was surprised some people got touchy about that post. I figured you guys would say bring it on old man or something like that.
It's cool. That is why I came on your thread. I always like your posts and threads because you always got good stuff going on.
4 per light would be good to see..what do you think?
would like to see led win with 4 under it..
4 under each light would b good esspically if there very alike size and age wise.
but man i guess im jus hatin but like u said its early in the race and i still want hps to win cuz thats wat i run and i hate on led but nice job and keep up the good work.
I'm diggin' the bamboo action Bossman! I got that technique from resinryder back in the day with his huge scrog thread... I think 2 per light is good, 3 is better... 4 is what I'm running under each of my 126W panels and it seems too crowded... :thinking the branches on the perimeter suffer a bit from a lack of intense light that occurs in the center of the panels...
say, $500 + s&h for a 300W LED? we think similarly on the spectrum vs lumen thing.
i haven't heard anything about sulphur plasma since high times ran an article back in 1996 :)
an hid in a good reflector has a very even light pattern. having a panel of led makes the center really bright, and the perimeter relatively weak. imho led should be on a light mover.
i also have to suggest that you don't try to 'even' things out between the different lights, rather, use them to their potential, and adapt grow techniques.
wow very political tread. haahah
cant wait tell the end.
How's everything coming along Bossman? :)
Try twice as many chips run at half the intensity, so it looks like the same amount of light while producing WAY more heat. It's a cool optical illusion though, as you can only see what I'm talking about if you wear a pair of sunglasses and view them side by side with 1W LED's. Match those weaker outputs to a 120 degree lens that's 4x less intense, and Super Power is the last word you'd use to describe it. I mean the panels are black...that should speak volumes about the people who supposedly did the development work behind their panels, which are readily available on Alibaba...

i gotta say all looks good but in veg that led was killing the other 2 now it looks like the hps hands down took the lead and even the bad boy looks like it might be doing better then the led whats your take on it since your touching and seeing it all the time. over all killa thread man
Oh damn, hahahaha!
Looking great bossman!
Thats a pretty interesting stake/screen set up you have there. I do something similar with my mother plants but i just use the stakes to support the screen early on in the training process to add support until the root/stalk structure can support on its on. im not sure what your time is worth, but it seems to me scoring a piece of extruded screen/fence material would save you alot in the long run vs the time you spend making up that contraption. And thats a pretty fine looking grow you have there and thanks for doing the side by side LED vs HID, its just so hard to drop that much coin on new technology.
Out of curiosity, what happened to the 4th plant under LED?
Excellent work Bossman! Any thoughts about feeding them all the same strength tea? Do some need more or less food than the others? Somehow I missed last week's update, but I bet those colas are swelling up right now... :cool
Have yall seen the Stealth? Super power of LED's. Check em'. Peace.
