Boss's light test. LEDvsHIDvs Maybe Bad boy.

I have one from LEDGirl. I am doing a test thread on them. Never used them before. Joker and I have the same size light 126w and have test threads. I can't answer the other questions until next year.

looks like HID is pulling ahead a little? Hard to tell ;)

All looks good though, great job

What up TLD,
At this point I still think The HID is falling behind to both the other lites.
It is still early in the race.

If possible (and if you want the best results with LED), keep the temp at 85 degrees. 76 degrees will actually stunt the growth rate with LED, as it slows the rate of transpiration. HID is a different story, but with LED you want the heat! ;)

Hello, Ledgirl.
The temps are at 82. I raised it to 85 but the GDP is real heat sensitive. And atarted looking sad.
So I lowered it to 82 and the perked back up.

maby this is why they say to veg wit mh? idk but that led supprised me.
sick test and i wish there was a mh in there jus fo comparison.
hoppfully the hps kills the rest of flower.lol

What up gooniez,
I vegged the HID girls under MH. But am flowering under HPS.

BOSSMAN88188, Which LED are you doing this test with? What company are they from? And what is a bad boy? Your plants are looking very good! Thank you, for your answers in advance! monkey5

Hello monkey,
The LEd is from LED girl. Here is a link to her site.http://hydrogrowled.com/
They are by far the best LEDs I have seen. I spent a few hrs playing with units at the hydro store. And none of them were near as blinding as LEDgirls unit.
The Bad boy is a T5 floro. It is from quantum.
And So far I am more impresed with the LED and the Bad boy then the HID.

I have one from LEDGirl. I am doing a test thread on them. Never used them before. Joker and I have the same size light 126w and have test threads. I can't answer the other questions until next year.

Hey tobar,
Everyone has a different sense of humor.
I am just too damn serious. Glad to see you stopped in.
Did you notice I copied your netting method.

I am thinking of adding 2 more girls per lite.
It seems like I not using the LED to its full potential.
I have girls in the same weak of flower. Already trained and ready to go.

So do you guys think I should inrease it to 4 girls per lite.
Or just wait till next run and do 4 then.

I did notice the bamboo tomato stake method. I got it from somebody else. It does work good too. They can't bend the bamboo up like they can string, thin wire or netting.

I was surprised some people got touchy about that post. I figured you guys would say bring it on old man or something like that.

It's cool. That is why I came on your thread. I always like your posts and threads because you always got good stuff going on.

4 under each light would b good esspically if there very alike size and age wise.
but man i guess im jus hatin but like u said its early in the race and i still want hps to win cuz thats wat i run and i hate on led but nice job and keep up the good work.

I'm diggin' the bamboo action Bossman! I got that technique from resinryder back in the day with his huge scrog thread... I think 2 per light is good, 3 is better... 4 is what I'm running under each of my 126W panels and it seems too crowded... :thinking the branches on the perimeter suffer a bit from a lack of intense light that occurs in the center of the panels...

If these ever hit mainstream, I think someone that was willing to run the risk of producing large quantities at say on a 30% profit margin it might be worth it, but I think sulfer Plasma will take over by the time that could happen.

say, $500 + s&h for a 300W LED? we think similarly on the spectrum vs lumen thing.

i haven't heard anything about sulphur plasma since high times ran an article back in 1996 :)

an hid in a good reflector has a very even light pattern. having a panel of led makes the center really bright, and the perimeter relatively weak. imho led should be on a light mover.

i also have to suggest that you don't try to 'even' things out between the different lights, rather, use them to their potential, and adapt grow techniques.

MAXIMUM LIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR PLANTS
.growth stage.....foot-candels.....lux
.seedling/clone....375.................4,000
.vegatative.........2,500..............27,000
.flowering............10,000.............107,500

these guidelines will give plants all the light they need to form dense buds.less light will often cause looser less compact buds.

from the medical geower's bible.just for reffrence:talking

Thanks bro,
:free-character-smil

4 per light would be good to see..what do you think?

would like to see led win with 4 under it..

I ended up doing 3 per light.
Next run I will do either 4 per light in soil. Or 1 per light in mini mpb's.

4 under each light would b good esspically if there very alike size and age wise.
but man i guess im jus hatin but like u said its early in the race and i still want hps to win cuz thats wat i run and i hate on led but nice job and keep up the good work.

For me it has been a very interesting learning process.
For example they have all been feed and flushed on the same schedule. And yet the girls under the LED have just a little yellowing in the leafs. The HID has more yellowing. And the Bad boy has the most yellowing.. And has started dropping leafs.

Hey bro,
The 205 watt I am running has 5 clusters of light's. And spreads it pretty well. But I am leaning towards 1 girl per light next run. In mini MPB's
What ya think?

What up Crysmatic
What brand LED can you get a 300 watt for 500$.
Last time I checked the unit's from Led girl are more then that. That being said. I do not know of another Led I would even waste my time on. I have seen too many different grows with them. And also spent a bunch of time at my hydro stores checking out different units.
And IMO the units from LED girl are on a completely diffrent playing feild. None of those units could dare challenge an HID.
As far as plasma there was a member of RIU that was pushing some new models of them a year or 2 ago.
I dont think they showed much potential. Just my .02
I The next run I will not even things out. But for this run I already am.
The bad boy is really bright. I dropped it too 12 inches for a couple days. And I think that is what caused the yellowing and leaf drop.

wow very political tread. haahah
cant wait tell the end.

Thanks and welcome bro.

How's everything coming along Bossman? :)

The girls under the Led are looking great. The buds are a bit smaller then under the HID. But the LED plants a much happier and healthier. And they have all had the same feed, feed, water.
Also the girl under the Led has the strongest smell. And probably 30% more trichomes already.
I have pics from the last 2 weaks. But they keep getting file error. I took some more today.

These are start of weak 4 flower shots from this morning.

Pics. 1,2, & 3 Leds.

Pics 4,5,&6 HID's.

Pics 7,8,&9 Bad boy.

Pic 10 LED bud shot.
Pic 11 HID bud shot.
Pic 12 Bad boy bud shot.

Then some room shots.

Thats a pretty interesting stake/screen set up you have there. I do something similar with my mother plants but i just use the stakes to support the screen early on in the training process to add support until the root/stalk structure can support on its on. im not sure what your time is worth, but it seems to me scoring a piece of extruded screen/fence material would save you alot in the long run vs the time you spend making up that contraption. And thats a pretty fine looking grow you have there and thanks for doing the side by side LED vs HID, its just so hard to drop that much coin on new technology.

Excellent work Bossman! Any thoughts about feeding them all the same strength tea? Do some need more or less food than the others? Somehow I missed last week's update, but I bet those colas are swelling up right now... :cool

Try twice as many chips run at half the intensity, so it looks like the same amount of light while producing WAY more heat. It's a cool optical illusion though, as you can only see what I'm talking about if you wear a pair of sunglasses and view them side by side with 1W LED's. Match those weaker outputs to a 120 degree lens that's 4x less intense, and Super Power is the last word you'd use to describe it. I mean the panels are black...that should speak volumes about the people who supposedly did the development work behind their panels, which are readily available on Alibaba...

What can you do to increase the flowering intensity of the leds.. They look great for veg as assumed, but lag far behind in flower?

at the correct illumination levels, the black or white should make little difference.. Right?

i gotta say all looks good but in veg that led was killing the other 2 now it looks like the hps hands down took the lead and even the bad boy looks like it might be doing better then the led whats your take on it since your touching and seeing it all the time. over all killa thread man

What up Aussie.
Yes the Led has fallin pretty far behind.
I will go into more detail on the upcoming update.

Oh damn, hahahaha!

Looking great bossman!

Hey bro,
It looks like you may have called it on this run.

Thanks bro,
Actually I hate to say it but these days my time is worth less then my $$. I have been doing wood finishes for the last decade. And there is not much high end construction here in So cal.

Out of curiosity, what happened to the 4th plant under LED?

:bong2: It seems I cant count.
I did not have enpugh for 4 each.I am not happy with the way my training came out. And I think it is going to cost me big time.I plan on more runs with all these lights.
Already have clones takin for round 2. So it wont be far behind.

Excellent work Bossman! Any thoughts about feeding them all the same strength tea? Do some need more or less food than the others? Somehow I missed last week's update, but I bet those colas are swelling up right now... :cool

What up bro,
I think sticking to the same feed for all is another issue that cost me this run. The next run will most likely be MPB's.

Have yall seen the Stealth? Super power of LED's. Check em'. Peace.

I have not seen the stealth. Honestly I dont have much interest in most Leds.
IMO Ledgirl put her light where her mouth was. And I still think this unit has some serious benifits. I dont think I have done it justice on this run.

Yeah but im sure the black unit looks cool.LMAO
Black absorbs light and heat.
Not so sure I want my light absorbed.

I would not waste my money...

Hey papa.
Now thats a mouthe full there. LMAO
I did not see the post before you deleted it.:)
