Not so happy with coco. My pots (23L) take forever to dry enough to water again, 7 days or more. I hand water with 20 to 30% runoff and my plants wilt for over a day. Maybe I should have used a smaller pot or made a mix.

That's a big container of coco...I've seen people getting like 8 zips dried from a 2 gallon. I don't know how the hand water coco guys do it..I guess you have to have just right size pots..but there is the danger of dry coco. I think the key with coco is to get them rootbound and do multiple light feedings each day. 7 days is a long time. I'm still planning on trying my hand at some coco..for production and automation aspects.

Hank I hope u have at least 25% pearlite in there. Also if ur plants r wilting they are telling u to much water my brother. And 23 litres? Hope u have some space Cuz that is huge. I use no bigger than five gallons and that's pushing it to be honest.

:bookworm:We absolutely love Canna products and the results that we get from using them! Canna's website has 3 different feeding regimens that can be applied. (Low, Moderate, High) Check this out for further clarification. http://growguide.info/ .:D Canna also has a youtube channel. ;)

I just did my first coco transplant this week. Precharged with ph corrected ro water.
Then I topped off with half strength nutes. See how mine fairs in the next cpl of weeks.
No perlite in my mix, seems the Canna Coco lets the water flow through with lightening speed.
Anyone else?

Check the side of the bag of coco that you're using. There are many many products on the market the come pre-buffered. The RHP Dutch Standard of quality for horticultural substrates, ensures a strictly monitored quality insurance that will give you constant proven results. Check for the RHP stamp on the bag. Canna COCO, Nutrifield Premium and H&G COCO are products that I know to be pre-buffered and PH'ed. We use these products right out of the bag! Mix with perlite for better aeration. :D

Canna Coco Natural Plant Medium states on the bag that it is pre buffered with what I couldn't tell you.

Not sure don't use it. However I mix 60/40 coco perlite with any coco. I'd say mixing 25% would be the bare minimum. Just my opinion.

I love coco too, Its very forgiving for folk like me who dont reaaaaaally know what the fuck they are doing.

I always use a good 30%+ of Perlite but always run a couple of 5l ph'd bottles through the perlite to get all that nasty nasty dust off.

So I currently grow in 4x8 beds of pure Canna Coco and I hand water about 30 gallons, per bed, every 3 days. I can honestly say you do not need to wait for the medium to dry out before watering again. The frequent waterings is what supplies your roots with O2. Also, IMO, when running coco you HAVE to be applying teas on a fairly regular bases. This will create massive roots, protect from rot and make your coco reusable over and over..

Depending on the size of the plant, I pre-charge with 1/2 strength base nutes and full strength CAL/MAG... ppms somewhere around 700...

Coco is the shit, period. I have tried bucket systems, Rockwool cubes and Peat/Soil mixes for years but have never seen production like this before...

I just finished a run using H&G coco base with a little cal/mag and some sea green and killed it. I was going to reorder jack's salts but I think I will go this route http://www.hydroponic-research.com/our-products/ (veg+bloom dirty)...It's pricey but an all-in-one product would be LEGIT..

Local shop is the only joint with Canna for like 25 miles. But using premixed stuff, paying for shipping of those nutes really sux paying that much for water that I can pull out of my tap. Paying over 50-70% extra.

Sounds like a plan. I'm just trying to figure out the next 6 months. Gonna run through the Canna Coco and Nutes either way. I want to use the same base for Coco ands UC. So it winds up being Canna, CS, or a soluble and I haven't much of a clue on solubles. I wouldn't mind trying the coco medium in the UC.

Need something that was a decent shelf life for dosing. I usually dilute base or additive the use the peri pump to dose throughout the day or whenever they need it.
