As far as I know, MPB is a form of RDWC (recirculating deep water culture).
The containers I am using are approx. 12 gallons, and could be bigger I think.
Are you top feeding with drip? air stone in each bucket? size pump? I have 9 sites and have 2 1800 GPH pumps "y"'d in to a 3/4 inch line... and from there the line splits to 1/2" to feed each site.
Maybe you have some funk? Are the roots white or tan or brown or what?
I guess give me all the specifics you can and then we can try to trouble shoot it together.
So the system I built has 24 growing sites, all 5 gallon buckets. These are in 4 rows of 6 sites each. Every site has an airstone. The 24 are fed by an Ecoplus Air 7 pump, 200 liters/minute. Plenty, I think.
The rows are fed by an intake bucket with 4 outputs directly to each row. In this headbucket is the chiller coil, to keep water temps in the 64-66 range.
At the tail end, the 4 rows tee into two return lines to a tailbucket, with a 550gph pump running the water back to the headbucket continuously. I put any and all water, nutrients and amendments here, so they dilute a little more before running down the rows. I mix and pre-dilute my nutes before pouring them into the tailbucket. Water depth is just at the bottom of my 8" netpots, which are filled with hydroton.
The system is packed in pretty tightly, so I ended up only using every other site for my latest run, for a total of 12 girls. They're arranged in a checkerboard pattern for maximum elbow room. The space it's in is about 8x9 feet.
I have 4x1000W HPS bulbs overhead, running in Ocho hoods. The hoods are exhausted out of the room, so the air that's in them is supposedly not interacting in any way with the sealed room. I think I may have some leaks, though. I run CO2 augmentation, total of 1000ppm until I get things well dialed in, cuz currently they're not!
Temps and humidity are well controlled. Bugs are under control. Nutes are not- I've been running about .8-1.0EC and the plants look very hungry, but I'm afraid to feed them too heavily as I've burned them in the past. I think they got this way due to a lockout issue last week, I changed the water, flushed and filled with fresh Jacks. I hope they're on the mend...
Here's the kicker; this isn't the only one of these I have. I have a total of three of them, and I'm trying to make sure I have the knack down a little better before running the others. I plan to run them in a 3 week rotation, so I'm getting a harvest every 3 weeks, and putting bloom ready girls in at the same time.
