OK, I've been dying to do that and you gave me the excuse.

Remember that larf bud you wanted me to chop? lol Well, I took that one since it was just larf.

Put it on the scale and it hit 53g. Times that by 20% to estimate dry weight and I got about 10.6 grams of larf in that bud. Imagine what the others are going to tip the scales at.

Will figure something out to give this a try. The Nug Smasher is a 120 mile round trip so not going to do that today. Thanks for the great suggestions!

That one if it was out of direct light will be least likely to have CBN.

I'm gonna put a pin in this post and come back after you harvest Mendel so you can see what I am trying to get to. But I'll give you the quick version - the weight from that bud would be in one of the top colas if it was not there to use resources.

It may seem counterintuitive, but 16 colas will outweigh the 27 I counted on this plant. At least in my experience. But there is nothing wrong with doing it your way either!

I hear you bro, I'm getting there and I do believe you. The Mendel grow, I do believe, shows your influence on my style! Thank you for that

Agreed it does. Sure hope I’m right. Hate to steer you wrong over there.

On my next fog grow coming soon I’m gonna do a side by side with clones. One I’ll leave alone the other I’ll train. All other inputs will be identical. I’ll prove it to myself unequivocally.

Here’s a quick sneak peek of what I’m working on since my grow got canceled as hard as bill Cosby

I know you need at least 1 of these right? Is it more?

I got you. Just give me a bit of time. That robotic music you heard in the background was all 3 3D printers going as fast as they can to make parts. Be a couple weeks before I can get everything printed for the fog tent. You are next after that. Or I can send you the models if you have a buddy that has a printer. I’ll bet if you put a sign at the bar someone there has one. They are everywhere these days. Several days for one complete set for 1 printer.

I need an injection molding machine. Or 100 printers I guess.

Dude, coming to this place is like going back in time 50 years. The lumber yard in town (33 miles one way) where I got materials to build my house....they still do all their sales on a carbon copy invoices from the 70's and they gave me a credit account without even asking! lol Along the way, they even made a $5k mistake in my favor when I built the house. When I discovered that they had undercharged me that much, I took it to them with a check. They were so floored, they would only take 1/2 of the money and thanked me, super cool there all the way around. I told them they need to upgrade to computers, they laughed.

If'n I said 3D printer to one of these people, they would ask if it's good for preg testing cattle

Roughly 9 weeks since onset of blossoms, I'm still waiting on this broad. She's taking her time as Max had suggested she might. Seeing some amber, but I'm surprised it's not ripening faster. When I see this much amber in the past, within a day or two she really starts to change....this one has been much different and bringing in the amber much more slowly. She is also still drinking, about 1/2 gal this morning. I'm prepared to go another week if I have to but my patience is really thin atm, lol.

Thanks Max, going to have another look here in a bit. Are you seeing 20%? I'm seeing more than that but on the sugar leaves. The calyxes are showing very little, at least yesterday.

no ,I mean I don’t go past 20%. to me taking it to 20 takes the racyness off and by that time adds weight too so kill 2 birds with one stone.

There are a lot of plants that take forever in flower. Stuff that has genetics that at least partially evolved near the equator which has a really long growing season.

I think that’s what you have here. I’m still seeing a fair amount of white. No foxtailing. Plant is not stressed and taking its time.

I don’t know if it is possible for you to not exhaust and still maintain a good environment but keeping ethylene in the tent would trigger ripening.

Get a big ol' stalk or several bunches of bananas and hang em in there to help move things along.

This is all true, and she is still drinking, about 1/2 gallon yesterday. I think you are right Moe, her genes are making this drag out. Gonna take another look here in a bit and see if there is any change since yesterday. I did look at the res after I got up and believe it or not, I'm still going to have some top off this morning when I go back in, but less than 1/2 gal, at least this early.

I have not been able to dial that exhaust back without the RH spiking through the roof but I could try a more subtle fan speed and see if I can keep the RH down. Easy this time if year but I have been running a big humidifier full blast just to keep RH in the Mendel grow tent in the 40's, and the exhaust fan in the Mac Dragon on full blast will keep that RH in the 30's when lights on. I could probably get away with just shutting the humidifier down for a day or two and see how that goes.

But seriously, topped off another 1/2 gallon this morning, ppm jumped right back down to 420, she is sending me a message

The battery on my scope died before I could get too many looks but probably a tad bit more amber, still not a lot on the buds themselves. I still want more.

The most beautiful plant I have grown, she is a looker fosure.

I wonder how different she would look under the raging kush lights? It's gonna be fun for you playing with that.

This plant will for sure get nominated for POTM. You gotta be super proud.

I forget what you got going in next?

Appreciate that but I do not believe that you are wrong here, 100%. You have been watching me learn in real time, but also, watching my learning process.

My wife has a deal where she can analyze your personality and she pegged me as being cautious in the way I do things...it's true. I don't want to find myself in places where I have to try to force toothpaste back into the tube.

So I have a question or two, I'm working on picking my bud sites on the Mendel grow. A bit over a week since flip, still not showing anything but pre-flowers. How many nodes down from the top should I pull any branching at this point? Will those nodes eventually stop throwing out branches and start becoming part of a cola?

Well, I am not gonna answer your question the way you want lol. Sorry, I don't count nodes. I tried all that years ago, but it was not something I could put a consistent rule in place for. For example, think back to how tite these nodes were packed on this girl. Then look at and post with something like Durban Poison IBL. The pic I nominated for CannaGranny in this months POTM for example. They are COMPLETLY different and kinda defies this type of definition.

So, once again, the broken record is saying to read the plants, figure out what it is trying to be, and work within that to help it become the best version of itself.

I like numbers of colas to be like 4, 8, 16 per plant. Depending on number of plants in a specific size area. So 4 plants in a 4x4 maybe to 4 or 8 colas each depending on genetics, and if you have more room or less plants, maybe do 16. Keeping it even like that gives you a good chance that the colas will have good stalk support and even resources for each but site. If you have one bud that is on a 1" diameter stalk and another right next to it on a twig, they will not grow evenly.

As to the number of nodes per cola, that will depend on a lot of things. Here is where your raging kush will come in. You can change morphology to pack nodes closer on a sativa or further on an indica to kinda shape buds with spectrum. So what might be 4 nodes per bud normally on a nice sativa could end up being 5 or 6 packed into those colas. But once you figure that out, I tend to lollipop everything under once the stretch is over.

You got this bro, it will make sense the more you do it just like everything else.

I'm gonna go count the nodes on that Durban IBL and come back and edit this post.

Yeah, can't see 100% but I think you might have 7 nodes here

I'm sure you know how hard it's been to let that thing set so long! I have not even unboxed it yet, super stoked, you bet

Not sure what is going in the new system but might be starting from seed. It's not the ideal in my situation but still trying to figure that out. I almost tossed those 4 clones of Mendel's Tropic of Censer but in the end, I still have them, they are fine, just brown on the roots. That would be my only alternative to a seed run but I would have to treat those roots as we discussed previously. Let me ask you this- Can I use Hydroguard the same way I would Orca or Great White on those roots before they went in the system? I never did order that stuff but I could. I'm still a few days out from getting the new system built but I have everything except the new air pump which is in its' way.
