Yeah it will and with them being small at this point you can afford to without worrying about the co2 level dropping also.

Got the light ballast moved into the tent and shut down the intake fan, currently temps rose to 73F, RH @ 65%, will dial that intake fan in just a bit if the RH gets much higher. Leaf temps around 68-69F.

Lowered the oscillating fan, bumped the light intensity up to about 23% or so, getting ready to shift into high gear on top. Looking to top the main stem tomorrow, I've got a anchor table built from pvc that will go in the tent soon so that I have something to tie branches down to when I start training this beast. I'm waiting for the Triangle Grape Cake to finish (hopefully this Saturday!) and then that tent will be the new nursery for the GDP seedlings while I hunt for a female or two from these regs.

Had to add another 2ml of Tree Trunk this morning which brought the ph back to 5.8. Not sure if I should be concerned about this downward trend or not. From what I understand, that is not the ideal and if anything, it should rise slightly. Still learning this stuff so watching and observing intently, ready to move when necessary.

yeah, it generally trends up on a healthy system. I see no reason why this is unhealthy tho. There was some acidification coming from the air stones last time, I assume you changed them out for this grow?

I'd just keep an eye on it for now. What you are seeing are not wide swings, and I think you are over sensitized to PH now because of the last grow. I know I would be.

Dang, no I did not change out the air stones! I bet that is it. OK, so not a huge mistake but was going to order some parts to hard plumb my chiller next time I change out the res. I will order some more stones and replace them ASAP. Is there any advantage using the discs vs. the cylinder shaped stones? Any recommendations?

you want the stone sized to the pump. What I do is buy the cheap ones in bulk and replace often. Certainly every grow.

OK, cool. I have an ActiveAqua 7.8 pump (two outlets) and it came with the 2" stones, which I assume are properly sized for this pump by Gary at PAH. Would those 4" stones be too big for this pump?

2x4” stones need about 10-12lpm per stone to function properly

Imo it may run 1 stone at 7.8lpm but an upgrade would likely solve your PH issues.

You want to agitate the entire surface of the water so as many stone as needed. i like 1 stone per site and depending on the shape of the res 1-2 in the res. Then match the air pump.

after that info im all but certain this is the issue with your PH

Cool guys, thanks for all the great info! The pump is on my list but it's likely I will have to wait. I did pick up a decent construction project (paid!) that I will be doing once my kitchen is finished. I will have a bit of financial breathing room once that is completed. Got some new stones on the way and will replace them as soon as they arrive.

no need to do everything at once. I don't think you are in the PH danger zone at all.

Got some new airstones ordered, should be here next week. PH drop continues, added another 4 ml of Tree Trunk to bring everything from 5.6 up to 5.8 this morning.

Current conditions- ph 5.8, ppm @ 487, res temp 67F tent temp 70F (still early morning) RH at 51%. Had to bring in the humidifier because I couldn't get the RH dialed in very well just using the intake fan. It was either too much or not enough. Anyhow, raised the light a bit, sitting at 26" above the top of the plant and I raised the intensity to 30%.

I also topped the main stem and tucked some of the gigantic fan leaves under the new side branch growth to get those branches more light. Also removed the first set of single leaflet leaves and the next set of 3's that were resting on the bucket lid. Still a bit of curl on some of the edges of the big fan leaves but I am thinking this is normal leaf development as it appears the leaves doing it are still reaching their full photosynthetic potential and not being burned by the light. She seems a bit droopy but not sure if this is something to worry about, as far as I can tell things are going well. Once I get the new airstones I will see if the downward trend in ph disappears.

Ditch the airstones use a stainless steel nut on the air line and a air pump tee at the end.

Not my original idea but it works well.

Been sick the past few days and finally starting to come back to life, lots going on between the weather outside and the greenhouse, the TGC harvest, and this Dragons Flame girl.

The new airstones will be here this week and I'm hoping installing them will end my ph downward trend, which has me a bit concerned. From what I can tell, everything is going well, the plant is fricking taking off! I tried to get a shot of that main stem, it's huge. Side branching is taking off and I will be able to start training this coming week when she gets enough beef to bend over and tie down.

She is drinking water and I think I have added back in probably close to a gallon altogether. PPMs are slowly dropping and I am wondering when I need to start adding nutrients back in. Watching the plant and I see no sign that I should change a thing at this point.

I checked the tracking on those air stones and they are supposed to be here tomorrow. I will get them installed asap. Question: Do you think I need to prepare the new air stones in any way before putting them in the system?
