ps: i got gnats or flies in my soil so im mixing 1/4 3% peroxide and 1 cup water distilled RO i guess. And gona spray the beds down with it. Any advice is welcome Thanks for stopping by!

Some times gnats come with the soil, or gnat eggs I guess, I used fly paper and they didn't last long.

You want to wait until your girls have around 6 - 7 nodes. By this time you should have the main branches that the plant naturally grew already established. You want to catch them early enough that they aren't too woody and still pliable. You want them to be a little bigger than this:

Looking good My only thing is, you should take those clips off the leaf stems and let the plants grow a little more then actually train the plant itself and not the leaves lol.

I missed that. In his last 3 posts with pics.

You want to use those clips on the main stem and side branches. Imo, if you keep them on the leaves itll slow down growth cause the leaves arent pointing up in the air collecting as much light as they can.

Ill look through pics to find some with lst clips

Your doing it right but on the fan leaves.

You should do it on the branches. Even the top or main stem. Usually after you cut off the top and let it grow two or more main stems.

After topping or fimming you get more branches. Sometimes you’re plant will grow more branches on its own. Either way it starts to get really bush and dense.

That can cause lots of little problems that can get worse. So we trim dense areas to let air and light in. Remove big fan leaves unless pointing away from middle of the plant. Remove small batches that will be to low and never produce good buds. Then use clips or wire to make branches go outward rather than straight up.

Keep doing that until the plant is the size and shape you want. Just let it heal in between major changes.

Not a great pic but all I have ATM.

In the pic link look at the main stem and see some yellow clips.

They are bending the branches outward. From the main stem to open things up and promote growth.

This is the instructions on my clip package. They show the main stem but it’s the same for all.

To late to edit last post but here is a closer peek at a clip.

This is a branch that used to go up that I pulled down. Clip keeps it 90* away from the “trunk” so it will bend and the branch tip will bend up on its own.

Here shows the full branch with clip just left of my hand and branch tip on right.

Here is same shot with hand removed to show how the branch is now part of canopy again but at least 6” further out from the main trunk.

Hope this helps but feel free to ask questions.

And yes...I need to work on the clones and clean them up.

Another method is to squeeze and roll the point in the branch you want the bend. The branch becomes quite pliable and bends easily, and tie the limb to the bag with a piece of clothes line or twine. The first time I did it I used a bunch of twist ties collected from loaves of bread in a kitchen drawer.

That’s all true and works as well or better depending.

Softwire or coated wire is better than twist ties. Less damage when the plant grows.

The squishy method to me is more HST and advanced. The clips are more for LST and thinner branches.

Besides, he already had the clips so that’s what we’re helping him use properly.

so the clips im using , im using them on the wrong part the leaves? so is the growth between the leaf and the stem is the new stem? is that what im training? im all ears. here are some pictures, if they look a little stressed is because i repotted em yesterday.
The picture is what im showing the new branches those are what im training?? if you look there are leaves pointing down and new growth pointing up. The new growth is what im aiming for?

You don’t use the clips on the leaves, you use them on the branches and main stem.

Yes. You put them on branches to control hight and bush the plant out more. Putting them on leaves might help in rare situations but isn’t normally how you do it.

Hmm. Not all growth there is new branches. Some is leaf and bud sites as well as branches.

You want to take any branch that has new growth and clip it to go in a direction where it’s away from the centre and preferably into a empty spot.

Yes. As an example the branch with two leaves and new growth on the end would be clipped so as not to grow straight up.

You could do before the first two leaves or behind. Depends on where you want it to go and if you have room to clip. If you don’t mind damaging the two leaves you can do it there.

You’re trying to steer the branch either where you want it to grow or away from where you don’t want it to go.

Just be careful and don’t rush. You will bend and/or break some as you learn. Either tape them back together or cut them off. Then you can make a clone.
I’ll check back later when you post.

In the last pic the two clips should be on the branches above the fan leaves you clipped. Assuming they are big enough.

You don’t need to rush this if they are to small yet. If you feel you need to, use softwire. I wrap it around the area before I bend it. Stops it from breaking or bending to much. You want an arch not a true 90*.

This helping or making things worse?

The idea is to create a even canopy. Personally I remove fan leafs directly attached to the main stem. Then I add training clips as soon as I can fit them.

I read, then watch, finally do.

My first try at SCROG tucking looked like a horror film. Stabber slasher

New bud sites will come up at any junction. Even after you strip or lollipop they will come back whenever it feels like.

We remove these spots we don’t want growth so the energy is spent elsewhere.

The ends of branches and offshoot branches are bud sites ;)

Yes. I was going to comment on his LST clip placement. Good call!!!
