They are super bright and cast most of their heat downward towards the plants. You'll want a good oscillating fan and supply of cool air to keep things in range.
I have a foot candle meter and IR temp gun to get the best lamp placement for most light while trying to stay around 76-78*F on the leaf surface. The tent reads an average of 80*F but the hottest spot where the light is cast reaches 100*F, about 12-18" above the canopy.
