well it had been about 3 weeks since I was at the patch on the prairie. They had gotten some good rain up there and the jackberry looked nice. They are not giants but look healthy, pre-98 bubba kush looks good too. Will try and give them a dose of nitrogen next time i'm up there. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talkin"""".

triple XXXXX hottt

ok, got your attention now:character0053:

yesterday was hottest day in 25 years, 107 degrees, freakin yikes, my marijuana plants are not liking this, plus no real rain in a month.
So it's off to the prairie i go to water, get there right at dawn, all ready to water and someone pulls into my spot. so i lay low and try and wait them out but they're going fishing so i get outta there. Think my plan will be to go in the hottest part of the day, don't think anyone will be put there then.

Anyway the plants are looking surprising well for what they are going through, both the pre98 and the jackberry, the jackberry is really starting to look cool, different from anything i've grown before, heard from a fellow grower it will get very dense.

enjoy the veg porn.

thanks skunkdawg, they got a nice rain on them early this week, i was going to water but they'll be alright for awhile, really like to give them a big shot of nitrogen before they start budding.

Sticky, hope that big plant pulls through, it's a beauty. I have some bankcok betty i'm running, its a satvia and its loving the heat, just thriving in it. Think i'm going to have to run some other satvia, but damn the long flower time is killer in the great outdoors, but my climate seems to be getting hotter and dryer.

hott and dry

ok so its back to the patch for some male pulling and give the girls a drink. They were just starting to look a little stressed, but they had grown quite a bit since last visit. Plants look healthy. Gave them water from nearby pond and mixed in some alaskan fish fertilizer, they had looked a little yellow on the tips but actually looked better but i gave them the juice anyway. 5 gallons at a time is slow work trying to water 12 or so plants. The pre 98 bubba is really getting big, pulled a couple big males but still have a couple big girls. THe jackberry has a couple of very different phenos, one is purple the other is soft and round looking and is very dense.

Damn i hope its rains.

You just motivated me to take my camera with over the weekend. I hear you on the heat/drought conditions, had to break up the top soil yesterday b/c water just runs right off. Corn in the area is beginning to suffer as well, noticed some browning on the tips. I've learned the herb is remarkably drought tolerant, but not watering obviously reduces your size considerably.

Looking good!

shrunk

My plants shrunk up since last visit, heat is taking toll. Went out yesterday at dawn to water, but someone had camped out in genaral area so I got outta there, went back in the heat of the day to do the watering. I got hot, fell kinda funny driving home but all better now.

It rained about 1/2 inch on plants 3 hours after I was done, there was not much indication of rain when I was there, but these summertime thunderstorms pop up quick. So the plants should be ok, even if it stays over 100 like the forcast calls for.

It's a double whammy, heat and no rain, one or the other is ok, but the combo is deadly for the girls

Yeah man lets hope for a great fall.:icon_animal26:

Cant help but make a path while lugging the 5 gals of water back and forth but in this heat its either cut a path or let the heat get the girls.

Do you use those moisture crystals in your soil ? i was thinking of going with that next year would keep from having to water so much.

ohhh yeah 3 of my girls have started flowering to so im happy.

and then there were 5

Plants got a much needed couple inches of rain and the temps have gone down to normal, no more of the 107 crap. All plants looking good, pulled last male jackberry on this visit, leaves me with 2 jacks and 3 pre 98 bubba kush. The kush is starting to get a strong smell and has just started to bud. jackberry has 2 completely different plants , ones very purple the other very dense. Thought kush plants were on the small side, these aren't, they're on the large side. Started fixxing my trail i've made from the watering. Dove season is in 3 weeks, can't have anybody stumbling on my girls....
enjoy the veg porn, good stuff right around the corner..

How did I miss this?
Whoooot
Another prairie guerilla grower!
Subscribed!

The lady's look bad ass.

What do you use to deter animals from eating em?
( I'm using full cages after losing 20-25 last year lol)

The heat is defiantly hot! We are hotter than death valley alot of summer.
How often an how much do you water?
I've been using water absorbing polymers , coco coir, an lots of mulch to hold water in the soil.
An I only have to water my 3-4 ft plants 2 gal each, once a week in 105+ heat.
The polymers don't make your bud taste bad, safe for fruits an veggies.

Now I got to read your journal from the start.......

greetings fellow prairie stomper, it's been dryer than a nuns snatch around here but the weather finally broke and its looking good. got over an inch of rian up on the prairie and its raining and cool right now. i was giving the girls and a couple of dudes about 3 gallons of water a visit. that's about all i could get in my 5 gallon bucket cause the pond was so low that's all i could get in it. think i watered about 4 times, maybe 5, i know i left WAY to much of a trail into my patch. i'm working on covering it up now.

never had trouble with animals, i had cages around them when they were young but nothing touched them. i just put fish fertilzer on them and nothing came up and dug them up either, ii think it's cause of the large coyote population arounf my area, scat is everywhere and when i come out around dusk they really get to howlin. i recorded it in my phone, just an awesome display by the coyote doggies....
glad you stopped in..

Looking Great!!
thanks KMK, hope to have the bud porn soon...:cool0041:
