Right on, I may start saving up now to get some predators later on!I'm not so sure it's the plastic pots playing a part to be honest. I can't say for sure though.
Yeah the predators aren't cheap either. Wait until your next fresh start and get them added to the top of the soil when you do a final transplant. To be honest I haven't had much luck with the nematodes but I've only tried them once, the Stratiolaelaps Scimitus and Rove beetles I have used and I didn't see the gnats come back after but they didn't do a whole lot for thrips pupea as a treatment, but should still work well as preventative. Thrips are a lot worse than gnats though so with any luck that's all you will need
Jeremy from BAS has referenced several times having gnat issues in the first one or two runs with a no till living soil that ends up correcting its self later on once the biology really dials in.
I won't be no tilling though, I'll probably be dumping, re amending, and starting back in solos.
First I'll try to get me some spinosad, then I'll start saving for the predators
