All cannabis plants start with parallel nodes and then move to staggered node spacing as they become sexually mature. How you train your plants determines how well you fill out the canopy. Every cut you make means its going to take extra time to fill it. Also, topping a plant and immediately flipping to flower is almost always going to give you less yield on that plant than you otherwise would have. If the grower has many clones and is trying to run a
sea of green, then yes, that would be a time I might top/prune and flip to flower all on the same day. However, when you do that the goal is a bit different. You're trying to fit single colas in space so a space that is 32 ft sq might actually have 32 clones in it ... 1 per sq ft. That would leverage yield on the canopy but its an awful lot of work to get there.
