Somehow I don`t see compliance officers coming out in the forest in the dead of winter. I`m thinking of doing mostly winter grows and maybe 6 plants in spring. I have about 25% of my crop in and drying so getting it all cut ,farm trimmed and dried will be first on the list , then trimmed. I don`t think I`ll have the time or money (in time) to set up for a winter grow this year. I`m going to work on getting my property surveyed ASAP and a nice size pad put in as well as improvements to the privet section of road for better access. Hope to be farther in by next winter where I can lock the gate to all traffic and be away from people on the public part of the access to the property. Then I`ll decide if I want to try winter grows or I may decide to literally go underground with grows. Improvements will also make my property of more value if I decide to move out. I`m not sure if moving would be the best idea. I`d hate to buy property just to have the next county follow the example of this one. Lets just wait and see how this works out. Just because the county makes more stringent laws doesn't mean they will enforce thoughts laws, or be able to afford to continue enforcement over time! It`s a big county and they just don`t have the funds to! I think they are centered on stopping the flow of people moving in to the county and larger cartel grows. I`m sure that will be their primary target anyway . It doesn't`t look as good on the news to be red tagging disabled small medical growers who are a little over the limit vs. larger growers and the cartel. They could win the battle and lose the war without public support.

Yea that fucks outsiders like me. But I'm coming anyway I can't be persecuted for growing a plant that I need plain and simple. With tons of 100 plus grows out in the open in butte we are going to be low on the radar. The pot cops only have so much resources and are going to fry the biggest fish first. This may help us a bit. I'm betting if your under 100 you'll be most likely fine. There is nothing in sb420 that says your plant numbers can have limits or your processed amounts.

California law does not have plant limits , but land use laws by local government are allowed under 420 and 215.

Yea and that sucks mark,
I could get 10 to 15 acres with water for 15 to 25k. Put a yurt on it and hook up sewage water and power and be ready to rock for around 50 to 100k not even. Now if we're talking getting a house and going large inside then I'm looking at least 250k pffff. Hard to hand over that much cash with no credit without raising eyebrows.

What do you mean by putting a big pad in? Also if you looked at that link I posted several posts back, well all counties are doing what yours are. Mendocino all of em, the only thing that looks descent is humboldt a 10x10 room with no limits on plants or lights lol I could stack the shit out of a vert grow in there plus my wife would allow for another 10x10. Man it doesn't look good.

The pad would be a large level and cleared area to build on. I`d like it to be the size of a football field. Most they may allow is two of the ten acres cleared and leveled. Got to have as much room as possible for fruit trees, solar, barn, gardens etc.. I also want to log the timber out and thin out the oak trees, also clear the brush between the trees for fire safety. I had the land cursed by a logging outfit and they said I`ve got 2000+ cord of hard wood and maybe $ 7000-12,000 of soft timber, mostly cedar. That should fetch me around $200,000 net in pocket change. They get half and do all the work. The only hold up is getting the land surveyed because it borders on Federal land. The logging company would get all the permits and I`d require a good cleanup in the contract.

Shit I would do that type of work myself, I think you said you had a disability that made that impossible. Wish we were neighbors mark I'd give ya a hand :)
All the ordinances are looking like shit.

Here are butte counties new bullshit rules set to go into effect on Jan 8, 2015.

  • Set cultivation limits based on cultivation area, by lot size:
Lot Size (Acres) Cultivation Area
0 - 0.5 Indoor only (detached structure 120 square feet maximum)
greater than 0.5 - less than 5.0 50 square feet

5.0 - less than 10.0 100 square feet

10.0 plus 150 square feet
  • Permit cultivation indoors or outdoors on lots greater than 0.5 acre;
  • Require minimum recommendations
    • lots >0.5 - less than 5.0 acres in size must have one or more recommendations associated with the plants
    • lots 5.0 - less than10.0 acres in size must have two or more recommendations associated with the plants; and
    • lots 10.0 or more acres in size must have three or more recommendations associated with the plants.
  • Require a single cultivation area, length and width of the cultivation area shall not exceed a ratio of 2:1;
  • Require cultivation and harvesting setbacks from property lines (with exceptions for unusual hardships):
Lot Size (Acres) Setback (Feet)

They can not require you to have more than one recommendation from a doctor or say that 3 people must share the grow on 10 acres. That goes beyond land governance and conflicts with State laws. It is very clear that what they want is no medical marijuana for anyone. I plan on growing 6 plants next spring. I will be having work done on the property all summer and could use the brake. I don`t expect any enforcement people out here. I`m thinking of doing winter grows after that. No rippers, code enforcement , Lots of water available and summer off. If they start coming out to check on me during winter they should know there are some large trees on the privet road that could come down any time in bad winter weather!

I agree, butte county can not do anything they just did, but they did, cause a bunch of lazy ass growers didnt go vote.

I voted so i can bitch. Once code enforcement starts visiting my properties they will be in court. This is as bad as the county thinking about metering my private wells. Our property rights are gone, we already know that we dont really own anything in this country, for example, stop paying property taxes and see what happens.
The american people have been slowly letting the feds and local govt own our asses and this is just another drop in the bucket.
I say keep growing how you already are. If everyone bows down to this illegal action then we really do lose in more than one way. I may open a dispensary again in this lame ass county. The few underground ones in the county are in it for cash, not personal freedoms and just cause, out in the open is where we all should be.

fuck um all Mark! Get the ammo stocked for the ar have plenty a good strong scotch whiskey on hand just in case and prepare to make your stand need be
I agree with you they are always gonna have some scary people to police first in Cali I doubt you get any problems
now remember about ten years back that big ass grow ya had right in the middle the yard in that pool?
lmfao that was classic balls out rebel shit there he he he
done a couple almost as nuts since but I totally admit never before you
you are nuts I wouldn't worry
I say stay under a couple hun or so and concentrate on mcbeans again
man did ya work a good bubba and a few others everyone would be happy to see
miss that and those dojo whatevers you n greens had for a minute

That was purple dojo. Didn`t know greens had that strain also. Yep I`m thinking of putting my $ into getting the property ready so I can be near the water and set up better to do my thing without needing so much help. My son is going to be moving down the hill for winter sooner or later and don`t think he will be around that much to help next season. I`m thinking of only doing a few plants and taking the summer easy while I have my eye on the workers I hire to do work on my land like put in the pad with septic and well. Improve the road and put a cement pad and cover for my RV and what ever else I can get done. I will start growing the Lyon`s share during the cold of winter in greenhouses. I `m also looking forward to starting my breeding projects back up again! I have a few good strains that are ready for release as soon as I do a good seed run but I have many more projects I need to get back to work on again.

This is ridiculous! Why the hell wouldn't growers get out and vote? Do they think none of this will be enforced?

At risk of stating the obvious:
Consider moving to a more urban location so that you can orchestrate operations rather than do it all yourself.
Don't hire trimmers yourself, hire a greenhouse supervisor and lord over and fire half the staff they hire.
Be overtly legal, with security and all the trappings of a commercial greenhouse.
Your desire is not in question, only your health.
After reading this thread for years, I understand that you would rather be in the sticks, but how is that going to get your seeds to market?
I admit this view is influenced by my desire to buy your seeds.
Get on the grid. Screw those generators.
(I'm only mirroring ideas I believe you have already written)

The whole point is life style, I want out of being one of the cows for the 1%. I want to live independent and farm organic goods all off grid. I still think this country is going down the krapper and I don`t want to be in town when it happends!

I just calculated the 150 sq. ft. space to be one of my rows minus 2.5 feet. enough for 9 plants the size I`m growing. As there won`t be a plant count I could grow smaller plants in the same area but they would produce about the same amount. Now as this assumes only one season( Spring through Fall) I could grow year around. I did the calculations again and it wouldn't produce any more whether I grew two seasons or just flowered three or more seasons with more but smaller plants do to less veg time. So I can nearly grow 1/3 of what I grow now and still stay in the Butte County 150 sq. ft. requirements. I would have set up costs and increased running costs involved with winter growing. I`m still working on what that would be depending on the way it is set up. I also could use the extra space for veggies and other herbs. I might also use the same space and grow smaller plants allowing me to pollenate them for seed grows and have a fare amount of various strains and seed volume . I could also grow and clone smaller plants and some clone mother plants and produce some clones. Or I could mix and match any of these things as long as I don`t use over 150 sq. f.t at any given time, I would still be within both state law and county land use codes. But regardless the new county codes are very much a limit and much more restrictive than what I have been allowed. about 2/3`s less even with double season grows! I`m planning on doing one of these type grows that falls under the new allowances this Spring while I have work done on my property. After that I`m not sure what kind of set up I`ll do. I might try a slightly larger grow during winter and risk a fine or I might try to run a few extra plants off the property but nearby during Spring(or both), but that also would be limited by my health and disabilities.
