Just some light rain. Not enough to wet the ground much. Cooled it down a little around here is all.

Just spent the morning pushing the little tops back under the screens to keep filling them out. Time to go water and then fetch more water for the tanks. It`s overcast and cool this morning giving me some grace with the heat and allowing me to get more done before watering. I think it may rain more today ? Not a bad day to work anyway, and I`m all rested up from my trip down south. I`ll take some more pictures in a few days but the plants are looking good! Did break off a couple branches but going to clone them anyway.

My son and his GF came up to work today. They cleaned up some weeds, cleaned up the office trailer and we tried to fix the water tanks but got one of the washers on wrong. I need to go to town and get a spanner or pipe wench that fits a 4" plastic nut. And screen, etc. It was cold this morning and my feet hurt all night keeping me awake so I flaked out most of the day. Well that`s not all true, I was going to go to town today but ended up working on the water pump to the motorhome instead. I switched out the one from the travel trailer just to find it wasn`t the pump. Maybe a switch or crossed wire somewhere? I ended up putting the hose from the pump on the water tank directly to the city water hook up for now. Not enough pressure but it works. I had to pull the fuse to the inboard water pump to cut any possible short and possible fire hazard. Now I find the igniter to the gas water heater uses the same fuse. Going to have to put it back in when I take a shower until I can get this fixed right. Might have to have someone come up that knows more than I do. That will cost I`m sure! Anyway didn`t go to town , didn`t really get anything done today, but ended up working all day anyway. Some days are just like this! Going to town in the morning and to my son`s home. He`s going to follow me back so we can fix the water tanks. I need them full of water ASAP while I can still get it. Also if I end up having to I have storage for water deliveries.

Hey Markscastle do you have any pre-soviet Afghani's also do you know anything about the hippie trail , and what reigions in Afghanistan they brought back seeds from?

KK

I`ve got a few different Pre-Soviet strains of Afghani seeds. Only thing I`ve heard of was a few different strains that two Peace Crops workers obtained from a drug train of boys and mules back in the 60`s. I didn`t think those strains were that good. The ones I got were ether from vets that sent them back to me or in trades from years ago. Talk of Kabul, Warlord and a pre-soviet Kandahar.

Going to town today early as possible. I`ll get some screen and some other supplies and stop at my son`s for a shower. I `m going to get the tools to fix the water tanks and he`ll follow me back to fix them. I checked the mail late last night and got the pull valve for an outdoor shower, a 12v heater I`ll put in the Blazer and a cassette player for my home stereo system as so many of my recordings are on cassette. Still waiting on a holster for my Springfield DX 40. The army holster I have doesn`t fit out on my belt very well as it sticks out and wobbles around. It`s made to fit on the vest, in the chest area of a military uniform , not on a belt. I really love that 40 cal hand gun though!

Thanks for the info Markscastle, I've been very insterseted lately in Afghanistan,Pakistan, and Iranian Strains. Too bad there's not many good pure hashplants these days.

I ended up cutting short some of my supply run because of a late start and because I realized some things had to wait until a week day. I`ll go again on Monday , maybe. I did get the tanks done and almost ready to see if they hold water after getting the fittings as tight as we could, but I also decided to wait on filling them because I want to cut a little more brush to give me room for an other project. not a bad day though, got a good shower at my son`s place and ate out with my Son, his GF and her father who I got to meet.

You can get a water filling permit for about $45 per month and then it`s legal to pull water from a hydrant to a water tank. You still need to transport the water. I was thinking about getting a water truck but the cost mounts with registration , insurance, fuel and maintenance. Hope to get by with a tank from my truck and spring water until I can get a well in. I think if my spring runs dry it will be late in the season so wouldn`t need to have many loads delivered ?

Yea I just pushed a few more sprouts under the screens after taking that picture. Going to be hard to keep up with the sprouts soon. I started a batch of tea going! In a few days they`ll get a big dose of nutes.

I`m thinking it will produce a little more than bending plants over or other types of training does. If I end up with nice straight colas it should make it easier to dry and trim anyway. I`ve never tried this outdoors, I`ve done sea of green , but not Screen of Green outdoors. I`ve done it indoors with good results. Hoping to try a lot of the techniques from indoor growing to improve outdoor grows.

I`ve been checking out how I could cover my greenhouses with light depriving covers just a few hours before sun up each day so I can run lights without shining all over the place. I need to be able to extend daylight hours in late fall through early spring when needed to keep plants in veg. I`m by my self so has to be easy to move on and off. Problem is everything I see out there is way over priced. I can`t afford $ 8-9,000 each for covers and systems. Need to figure how to do it on the cheep. Any idea how to build something to move the covers on and off easy? Part of the problem would be if it snows.

Ready to go to town after I charge all my batteries up. Checked the water pump in the motorhome and now it`s working. Can`t fix what works, just have to wait and see if it messes up again.

Hey hey MC.. Not sure if it's a fesible or would even work .. But for your Dep covers you
were saying you could not move them alone,How about a Pully cable system??of some sort
Just a thought .. Glad your trip to town went well ,and them Girls are starting to fill in,in the Greenhouse
Looking good... (-:

Yep thinking I could cover the ends with panda film, white to inside and put up some kind of pulley system over the loops. Plastic would be drawn by ropes over the plastic until it reaches where I could pull in down the rest of the way. Problem would be getting large enough plastic. I could do in in sections that over lap but not sure how to keep the wind from blowing it and letting light out. What would be nice would be to have some crank awning covers from RV`s installed with panda film instead of the cover material. No mater what I end up rigging up there`s no way around having to get up at 4 am and covering them unless I cover them at dark and then I`ll need to be here to uncover them at sun rise every day. All it would take is one slip up and they could go into flower! So I ether have to risk running the lights with the greenhouse open or I won`t have a single morning I can sleep in during veg in winter. I won`t be able to spend the night anywhere ether. That would make deliveries hard from my summer growing. I`m going to design a whole different system for when I get on my property. Like to make it where most things can be made to run on timers. I`d mostly be checking the system and watching plants grow. This old guy is getting worn out and a automatic system is in my future!!!

yeah, a nice auto System def would be your friend ...
with your knowledge .. and some DIY ingenuity bet
you'll come up with sumthin Good :-)

An other idea would be to have individual nets inside with the covers draped like mesquite netting used over beds in the tropics. I couldn`t do a screen of green that way but it would be simple. I`d just go inside and cover each plant and uncover them. It would be the cheep route also. I was thinking of using 400 watt MH hanging lights inside. You can find used shop lights with core and coil built in ballasts and they can run off generator power , unlike digital ballasts. I could use one 400 watt light for every two plants in a 4`x8` bed as I`m not trying to grow with them, just extend the light cycle out to 18 hours and using the available sun light. That`s still 12,000 watts so I might just ether go with t-5`s or 150 watt MH lights o a string. Just needs to be strong enough to keep them in veg until the flip. My diesel generator is only 7.5 kw. I`ll need to run some fans also. I don`t want to be running more than I need for power because the bigger the power requirements , the more fuel is needed to run a larger engine.

Well today I finished the BBQ!!! took long enough didn`t it? I also put a big bag of 5 different blends of bat guano grow to brew in the Molasses and kelp tea. Give it an other two days to be ready for the feeding! Other than that I took a big nap after smoking a rather large bowl of some of my Orange Cookies hash. I`m going to watch a DVD and some TV tonight and get up early to water and fetch more water. Then not sure what I`ll work on.
