Yup lol Absolutely right. That being said, the nursery I get both from has a price per cubic foot difference of less than $5. Probably why I always assumed they were similar enough not to matter. Based on ingredients alone though, I could still see myself using HF since it contains more microbes/beneficials than OF. I still plan on giving it a try....and with the way things have been with this quarantine I may not have a choice lol HF has been sold out at 99% of the places I frequent

They inoculate happy frog because there is much less organic matter than they put in ocean forest.

All that said i got good results from happy frog and better results mixed 50/50 and 25% added large perlite.

But again. I got better roots and more fruits and a couple more weeks of strong growth with water only from ocean forest 3 side by side runs in a row.

Happy frog gave micronute deficiencies before the nitrogen ran out for me a couple times in testing. Complicating transfer to nutes some.

Gotcha! Thanks, didn't know that about the differences. I've always had great results so I never even considered changing my formula. Adding chunky perlite is a must IMO

Thanks man!

Mornin! Sorry to interrupt Mimed, but I know I always get a non bias logical scientific response. I just need to jog my brain and get it open again. Lol

I’m having foxtail issues, the first answer is heat stress, I think, but here the situation. Kingbrite ? Just started happening after the new kingbrite(480 watts runnin about 70% in 2x4 tent) The kingbrite run about 7-10 degrees warmer than the mars combo I had. I’ll just add I’ve always ran a little on the warm side 80-85 sometimes with lights on, with the kingbrite I had to turn up the exhaust because of the heat which in turn lowered the humidity as well, I’m having trouble keeping it above 45-50, could the humidity level be causing the foxtails? Could the lights still be too intense? I don’t have a good par meter but I see no light damage on leave, most are praying to the light gods. I do obviously have rh and wind damage
Or any thought on the light itself? I do believe potency has increased! Under the kingbrite no real evidence yet though just opinion. Anyhow thanx fir lettin me ramble and any response will get me thinkin

I dont know man. I havent used led and have seen folks get good results over 80 degrees but i think 80-85 is hot indoors unless you run full power and sealed with co2.

Plenty of available nutes and too much light/heat seems to foxtail buds.

That said many of my sativa leaning plants foxtail and fill in through the whole flowering cycle.

Genetic and hear stress foxtails are quite different. Yours dont look like a bad problem to me.

It doesn’t seem to affect quality , and i personally don’t care about looks, I smoke fir relief, and they are Sativa learners, actually they look to be the the highest Sativa percentage pheno I’ve had yet so gonna keep rolling with it

You don’t think the low humidity is an issue? The temp/ humidity levels put me on the edge of the vpd chart

I dont follow vpd charts. I run 45-60% humidity winter to summer.

Stability is more important in my opinion.

50% and 77 degrees average has worked fine for me.

same here, some folks say hey man , u need to raise that humidity.... tests here show that anywhere in the 50-65 Rh range and 75 temp works , the VPD chart is a go to, if ur close , all good for small time closet growers like most folks, and as always, evry1's set up is diff...just gotta dial in....but for the most part ...... "it aint Rocket Science" ... so cool to hear and see first grows doing so well ~

My 0.02 cents is and this is what i previously thought and now confirmed. I can see it since my humidifier ran dry and RH was 45% for almost a day. In soil it doesn't seem to make much difference??? In hydro with much faster growth its makes a lot of difference. That's speaking in terms of plant response visibly of stress. In terms of optimal growth I do feel it will have an impact in soil just not as pronounced.

Like most things, just because you can doesn't mean its optimal. Cost vs gain I think in most cases

Led vs hps they really do shine at a higher degree of heat and running co2 and increase of intake of nutes by 25% vs hps 75-78f and staying on a suggested humidity % setting.

Actually 80-85f max is why all the led companies recommended with co2 after it was pretty much cemented after many lps were trialed and it showed those temps worked best vs lower ( cheaper for the grower to run too) that it worked and if you follow vpd , if you don’t have proper vpd and have a dry climate in that higher temps = def bad results . You can’t play god and assume the plants will be happy ( plus bugs love dry climates like spiders mites )

I do not get airy buds (I’m at week 6 and almost all 20 pheno’s are rock and losing their leafs or fall ) or negative results from 80-85f and only issues I had this season I under rated my a/c for spring , time and running propane co2 Burner (8 burner ) . So I turned off my co2 last week ( last 3 weeks , oh well)

Another tip is to have a humidity/temp humidity probe above canopy and make sure that’s the canopy is actually 80-85f ( you can’t just add a room one on the wall and assume ) it’s good to have a few on the canopy or peak points and know what the canopy temp and humidity diff is vs room.

Not sure what anyone is worried about (via humidity , thus making such low humidity and sci even shows it hurts the terp development ) cause you can outdoor grow or greenhouse in 90-100% humidity for weeks on end and it’s the rain and cold that gets the plant vs humidity %. Hints why I have never gotta pm in over 15 years indoors or ever , I have def outdoors cause of rain ( state I live it can def rain for weeks at the end and be cold )
