Thanks everyone for the great input and info.. All ideas and experiences are welcome.. Feel free you first time cloners to jump in and share also.. Thanks, Donny P
I would have to get mine at Amazon.com..Yes very addictive .... cool thread liking the detail on the link provided but my tool box is smaller than yours for sure. I would personally buy the cloner as I would of been smoking GSC if I had a bought it a long time ago instead of my 1 clone not making it.... would hate to lose a elite cut .....
best of luck

Thanks bro.. One of the cuts I made from the blue lemon thai.. I cut it straight, no angle.. just to try it out.. I heard it creates less of a wound.. or calass I think it was described.. and its doing fine.. And I looked like a surgeon doing it! lol.. the dude at bcbd would of got a kick out of that.. Do you go straight into soil after the gel dip? No rooting plugs?.. Thanks bro..Sup DP...lookin good bro. It aint hard once you have a cple runs at it. I just use FF Happy Frog with an extra 25-30% perlite mixed in for a nice airy mix. I found my success rate went up from about 75% to 99.9% when I switched from rooting powder to Clonex Gel, its very rare that I lose one. I like the LQ too, but I use it at a much lower rate, 1tsp per gal watered into the soil before ya put the cuts in there has worked great for me.
Ive also tried a few different ways of taking the cuts...takin em out of water..under water...splitting the stem etc etc. I got better results from the cuts I just took from the bottom of the plant, cut at a 45, dip em in Clonex and put em in the LQ fortified soil, mist the dome and leave em alone. There was an old member at BCBD that used to use a rusty fuckin knife to take his clones and he got about 90% LMAO.
Thanks Max.. I been keeping up the misting because there doing so well. I think I'll start to open the vents today.. I really love the LK.. been using it on my other plants as well.. And the Happy Frog is on stand by.. This can be addictive!.. Thanks for stopping by.. DP

Completely agree. The less you fudge with them the better they'll be. I usually mist the domes 1-2 times a day and thats it. Leave the dome on for at least 7 days. I usually just vent it and leave it on until everything is rooted. Start looking for roots after 8-10 days.
They look good though bro. They'll root up for sure. Don't oversaturate the plugs! You wanna hit them right before they are fairly dry. Let the roots that are forming stretch out to search for water
In my experience...
The best advise I have read on cloning is to bulk up the downer before cutting.
Health and size of the cutting has the greatest impact on success.
Many of the compulsions that pile up in cloning procedures are of no use in my opinion.
I have read of people using a new razor blade for each cut, and also making that cut under water.
The same procedural creep is what drives the plethora of additives and secret sauces for sale.
I come from a science education.
Believing in results without control evidence is to act on faith.
Thanks max.. Dunge, I was a little confused also about bulking up the downer.. maybe the plant?.. View attachment 333374
I have read authoritative reports from farmers who take great care to put their mother plants in TOP condition prior to taking cuts.
The idea is to get them as "fat and happy" as you can. If the cutting is in max growth at the time of cutting then rooting gets a jump start.
As I remember: Lots of light and water and some have other tricks that they dial in.
It makes sense.
I have better success when cloning summer sun grown plants. They seem to like the sun better than my basement lamps.
PS I cut at 45 deg. to make the stick pointy. 43 deg. works just as well.

Thanks Dunge, the ak-47 was veg'n for 10 weeks and looked nice and healthy, and the two thai cuts were taken from one that was in flower for only 6 days.. and only made one straight cut just as a test.. Thanks for stopping by.. DP
It's proven that taking the cut under water is beneficial, science wise! And it's proven science that the 45 degree angle is not going to help you here. A straight cut is just fine, actually better for this application. I use scissors, but I agree stock plant is of huge importance. In my experience...

Stop feeding the stock mother the week before, too much nitro makes them green and rubbery, you want more woodyness to them and straight water will do that. Foliar with fulvic too the week before taking cuts. And take your final cut on the stem where the softness meets the woodiness, that is where roots will grow first. That's all backed by heavy science, coming straight from a botanist ;)
Probably. Funny as it sounds...

Not that I promote the use of any pharm products. Just found it amusing.

Nor do I, but its the greatest invention since sliced bread.. They say call your doctor if erection last for 4 hours or longer.. Hell, I'm calling ESPN Sports, or Fox News!..lol.. Thanks for stopping by..DP
Hey bro, I posted a link for you describing some stuff I mentioned. Cadmium is a metal, your prob thinking of cambian, outer cambian, pre cambian, layers of the stalk and stuff.Hey Baba, just curious as to where that info comes from that a 45 degree angle cut isn't beneficial. Since the roots are formed in a "layer" of the stem (I think "cadmium", but I'm probably waaay off), it makes sense that exposing more of this area (which a 45 degree cut would do) that it would be beneficial.
Haha..Attitude, that's a great piece! Thanks for posting the link! I was wondering what use I'd have for all that Viagra I stocked up on now that I've sworn off the crazy bitches for good! :bored:
LOL...I hear ya DP! But I kinda feel cheated if it don't stay up for 4+ hours! Hey bro...those clones in the pics look great! What are you talking about they don't look happy? Differwent strains will all react differently to the process. I've had some that wilted to the point they looked dead, and turned yellow...but still survived the process and went on to be great adults! Don't give up on them too quickly!
Best,
Max :wacky:
