I would say the biggest thing is to do large seed plantings - I like to start 20+ seeds at once, and when really looking for breeding stock, 50+ Everything that gets pm - cull. Everything that's slower growing, growing odd, wonky - cull. Only keep the ones that are growing like mad, only keep ones that have amazing stem rubs. With quality genetics, and a large enough seed selection, will end up with the keepers your looking for.
Also, how often do these dudes replenish their stocks? Hopefully i'll have some money to work with with tuna season coming up, prolly gonna go nuts here and there
