Very excited to offer this community my first grow log and my FIRST time working with beans. I have to give thanks to the new Breeder on the scene, Uprising for allowing me to test his gear (Very professional!) as well as Squiggly and Soser for there help in popping these!

Grow Log start date: Thursday Nov. 8, 2012
Strain: Peter Tosh (Ken's GDP x White OG) :)

11/8/12: Received beans in mail and immediately dropped the 13 into a cup of de-chorlinated water, pH to 7.0...Left for 24 hours

11/9/12: Noticed 4 cracked, so, I wetted a paper towel with the same water, laid the beans out and placed it in a zip lock bag, filled with air.

11/10/12: 2 more cracked making it 6 out of 13, I placed the zip lock bag on top of the water heater to keep these babies warm. (Thanks SOSER!)

11/11/12: 11 now popped, and they looked to be heavy enough roots for soil so I preped 3.5" soil cups with Roots Organics soil and dropped them 1/4"-1/2" down (Thanks Squiggly!) and used a pipette to water the soil with a freshly brewed tea of: Humisoil, EWC, CAPS, and Molasses. Placed the cups on a tray with a heat mat under it and slid under a T8.

11/12/12: Woke up this morning to 1 sprout so far, looks like they're enjoying the bennies! Hopeful to see the rest soon.

Good to have you dank! That's my boy Buster, 18 month old southern blue nose, currently 70lb. Calling him man's best friend is an understatement.

11/12/12 (evening): Came home to 11 sprouts! These little plants are crazy! Gave them all another pipette or 2 of diluted Cap's Bennies....they seem to be responding very well to that diet. Checked on my 2 remaining, unpopped beans and not much activity; I became impatient and decided to do a slight remix to the sandpaper trick. I actually used a razor and VERY delicately made a small incision on both and gave them 2-3 drops of bennies and placed them back into the paper towel/zip lock bag.

11/13/12: The razor trick worked! Both unpopped beans had actually popped massive tails over night and I transplanted immediately (forgot pictures :(). The sprouts are all close to 1-2" tall now and all but 1 have kicked there shells and are beginning to fold open!

p.s. Please excuse my excessive exclamation point excitement, i'm popping my cherry on germinating and couldnt be more stoked!

You starting seedling with a 600 watt m/h in cups , better stand in the room with a gallon of water, really cant help you there, have never vegged seedling with anything higher than my 150 hps and thats after they come out of cups , I like to go from t5 to white florescent's as to keep them bushed out, if starting under a 600 i would think there would be no way to avoid a stretch , maybe someone else has a better idea , not something i have done ....soser

Thanks Squiggly! These little ladies (I hope) seem to be growing themselves, or maybe its the detailed knowledge you blessed me with.....This definitely made me a seed fanatic.
Thanks again, GR33N

The hardest thing for everyone to realize is that we don't grow the plants--they grow themselves and they did it for a millennia before we even existed.

The best thing you can do for yourself is get the hell out of their way.

Unfortunately, I'll be living vicariously through threads like this one for awhile--a city inspection that my landlord announced to me 2 months after he knew about it (1 day before it happens) has caused me to have to tear down my room for now. I just constructed it after moving out of the tent and the materials I'm set back will put me out of business for awhile.

So kill it for me bro, I'll be watching! I'm here if you need any help.
