so the container u showed us. lets say i wanna seed up one entire plant so that means your breaking the fan out lets say and dusting one plant.
how many times could you do that with what you just showed us in that one container. so we have some idea for sales or storage quantity. not a paint brush so you will have waste i guess. just wonder what you think ...... how much would you pull out ?
& can you just toss it back in the fridge ? how many times have you taken pollen out of the fridge & put it back in ? does it hold up bouncing in or out ? just wondering if a buch of smaller containers will be needed ....
iv'e never done an open pollination so i don't really have anything to say on that.
all my breeds are hand pollinated in the bathroom with a small fan brush, left in there all day then at night say an hour before lights out i shake them real good and spray them down with PLAIN water. they will be dry before lights out. some times i only do once other times i do it twice.
this plant right here
was fully pollinated with less then whats in that container above, i'd guess 500 seeds!!. may be more may be less but that's a good number to shoot for. pure pollen is very strong and you do not need to over load your female a little will make a lot of seeds. i thought at first i may have over pollinated this girl but she seems to be doing just fine.
if i had more room i'd like to do an open pollination but i don't and i don't see me having that kind of room to work in so i do what i can with what i got.
i don't like to pull my pollen's out unless it's time to do some work, and yes after iv'e done what i need to do i place the container in my closet for a few to make sure there is no condensation build up. after that lid back on and back to big container it go's.
your call on the size of containers you want to use, mine are the way they are because i do multiple harvest per plant and i don't like putting yesterdays pollen on top of Todays pollen. i don't like to store pollen in my containers that are very full, i would never try to fill any of those containers up and then store.
there is probably 10 or so different pollen's in that big container but there are some with 3-4 containers of the same pollen.
once the pollination's have been done it wont be opened again until the next round of pollen collection, that could be 3-4 months.
peace;)
