so the container u showed us. lets say i wanna seed up one entire plant so that means your breaking the fan out lets say and dusting one plant.

how many times could you do that with what you just showed us in that one container. so we have some idea for sales or storage quantity. not a paint brush so you will have waste i guess. just wonder what you think ...... how much would you pull out ?

& can you just toss it back in the fridge ? how many times have you taken pollen out of the fridge & put it back in ? does it hold up bouncing in or out ? just wondering if a buch of smaller containers will be needed ....

iv'e never done an open pollination so i don't really have anything to say on that.

all my breeds are hand pollinated in the bathroom with a small fan brush, left in there all day then at night say an hour before lights out i shake them real good and spray them down with PLAIN water. they will be dry before lights out. some times i only do once other times i do it twice.

this plant right here
X gsc bx1 f2 24

was fully pollinated with less then whats in that container above, i'd guess 500 seeds!!. may be more may be less but that's a good number to shoot for. pure pollen is very strong and you do not need to over load your female a little will make a lot of seeds. i thought at first i may have over pollinated this girl but she seems to be doing just fine.

if i had more room i'd like to do an open pollination but i don't and i don't see me having that kind of room to work in so i do what i can with what i got.

i don't like to pull my pollen's out unless it's time to do some work, and yes after iv'e done what i need to do i place the container in my closet for a few to make sure there is no condensation build up. after that lid back on and back to big container it go's.

your call on the size of containers you want to use, mine are the way they are because i do multiple harvest per plant and i don't like putting yesterdays pollen on top of Todays pollen. i don't like to store pollen in my containers that are very full, i would never try to fill any of those containers up and then store.

there is probably 10 or so different pollen's in that big container but there are some with 3-4 containers of the same pollen.

once the pollination's have been done it wont be opened again until the next round of pollen collection, that could be 3-4 months.

peace;)

nice breakdown .....

cool , so you would hand paint the plant each bud. my original question was centered around quantity of seed expected from what was collected. because it looked like what i would catch after 48hrs and then a shake .....

so if that amount was sold, both side understand the expectations. he could had paint one plant for about 500 seeds or paint 5 plants and get 100 of each. or if he set that in front of a fan, maybe bump up the expected seeds by 30% ... not sure. but if your selling it, nice knowing that upfront. & you could work with 500 seeds for nice selections on a new line .... so because of this, the price goes up for the special pollen .....

& if your the guy selling the pollen, it would be one and done for the most part, can't send it and have every reason under the sun why it did not work............... your providing much more then ten seeds.

so successful delivery and viability would support or take down would be sellers of pollen. reputation but at the start it would be every man for himself till the quality sets the rep .....

hey what if i can select from a few and a make a few seeds ......, or ya i could do that .........

i have a bunch of ideas but i gotta see some tail's FIRST...... like a crack head checking them every morning .... lol

i just popped some rosetta stone f2's & some velvet rush ( highland blue thai ) unreleased dj short - f7's hoping i'll need them this summer .... i'm moving backward and starting over lol...

& i'm a big believer that everything free, if breeders work it, great, if they sell it , great if the stock they use was gifted , great ...... so ........ i'm just another guy with seeds & popping them. but leave the respect talk at the door. i will use F1's, F2's, b.x's of other work just never gift it as a next generation .....

but the durban are open season, old stock original breeder gone, so anything goes.

for me personally the price question is an un-answerable one i just have no idea how one would go about doing that.

i do everything by hand over here because i'm small time and it's just me doing everything no body touches anything that come out of my stable NO BODY.

ya pretty shity run but after like week 12 i'm like WTF did i get myself into!!!.

not my cup of bud at all.

"BLUE MOONSHINE" "PRE BLUEBERRY GENETICS" that's the info i got on the strain when it was given to me.

have fun with that one;)

@JAWS

u ran velvet rush on icmag, it's unworked but did you recall anything special. slow veg or anything like some ibl's .. back then could you finish it how you wanted. at the other site we talked but i forgot ..lol

LOL just asking ......

ya it's real hard getting specific info ..... might be an out cross at the start, but it does have highland blue thai he got from the boel what percentage not sure ........... ed rosenthal hung with the group. so ill dig again and see what i can find. koot' or swami gave you those , he said he passed them in different directions at first for preservation. but a few years later he said he never heard much back ..... i know u ran them , seen your post ...

..... " I have a question that can probably only be answered by DJ Short specifically.

Back around 1985 or so there was an author who lived in Laguna Beach (at that time) of one of the better 'how-to-grow' books out there and while he wrote the book under an assumed name, he had connections to breeders in the Pacific Northwest.

At one point in time I was handed about 50 seeds and I was told that they came from 'Sacred Seeds' in Washington & Oregon. The name of the strain was 'Velvet Rush' and having grown it out a few times it seems that it 'may' have some common genetics with the famous 'Blueberry' strain.

Any information about 'Velvet Rush' out there? " ......

Thanks!

Thanks a million. At the very least the seeds I have identified as 'Velvet Rush' are
either the 'Blue Velvet' or the parent.

The one time that I did grow the seeds back in 1990 to rejuvenate the genetics
and create new seeds the few ladies I let finish unpollinated looked EXACTLY like
the photograph.

I was NOT able to let them finish as professionally as I wanted and since I wasn't
going to 'switch' over to that strain I never gave it much thought - but the bud I did
get was really cerebral and long-lasting.

RE: BEL - from just having the genetics you mentioned I would think that your
friend was, in fact, a member of the BEL. Quite an exciting time. Insofar as LSD -
the BEL was the group that manufactured and distributedthe most popular
psychadellic of all time - Orange Sunshine which was TECHNICALLY not LSD-25
but a smiliar ergot - ALD-52.

Check it out - the decision was made to use ALD-52 because it was much more
stable for shipping and storing. LSD-25 is very unstable and virtually has not
shelflife before it starts to change properties.

Peace.

this plant could be flower soon after getting a good root system, she grow very very fast once she takes root. like iv'e said many times before with this girl in the right hands {"not mine"} would be a monster of a plant with huge arm sized buds.

i'll be watching for-sure:)

ya 5leg goat was in that old thread.

it must have been koot who first pass them. swami did not get koots gear until 2010 or so and he gifted some soon after ......

& now swami and koot do not get along so it the reason you grab stuff when you can. teams start and finish quick in this industry ... & when genetics pass hands in all forms for many different reasons .... so it's another reason i have no issue using the gear as i see fit !!!

So I don't know if I've mentioned this but I have pollen that's been stored for about 22 months or so in not so ideal conditions with vegetation and moisture and in and out of freezer garage and storage unit that will be tested sooner then later hopefully by someone and I will report results at that time
I've stored pollen in the same gallon zip-lock's that I collected it in. Kept it stored in a dark, dry closet. It was still viable three years later. I surely didn't think it would. It wasn't special. (MK-Ultra)
