go with a top off res bro - it does not make sense to add r/o and then have to hassle with adding nutes and adjusting ph - which isnt recommended anyhow

you dont want to overshoot and then be scrambling to correct - nice and steady ph and ppm with top off res

edit: I uhh went back and read - hmm my 8 came with an ap 100 - a 40 does seem a bit underpowerd

top off rez for sho if you can fit it, makes life extra easy. 55 gal drums are $50 on craigslist..

I have an AP40 on just the disk alone, so I would imagine an airpump upgrade could only help. Looking dope, though.

Are you running Co2? I didn't notice but if so it'll help to move the airpump outside too

Thx leadsled! The girls are ready to get their feet wet... As for the hose, I didn't want to crimp the tubing so I made the line a little bit longer as I also wanted the chiller to have ample space... I may have to change this when the lights are on, but we'll see how it works... :talking

oh hey, How loud is that Air pump? You outta get it out of the box, it makes heat and you should try and keep it cool. Those big air blowers blow hot air when they get hot, That's the downfall to those, Feel that steel manifold after that things been running awhile. How you guys dealing with that? I guess the chillers handling it. :harvest:

Thx for stopping by GoD! The UC System 6 sits in a 36" x 63" footprint. I plan on a horizontal trellis, and will prob only veg for a week unless things go crazy... Actually the entire system is pretty quiet considering there's a lot of stuff happening... Not any louder than my exhaust fans... :cool

Shady Update… Under Current Preparations

Well, there seems to be an issue with the Pondmaster AP-40 not putting out enough air as mentioned in the last update; thankfully it will be switched out with an Alita AL-40 soon. Until then I must continue with the show… Admittedly, by filling the 8 gal buckets to the lip, I’ve estimated the system to hold 42 gal of RO without calculating the volume in the 2” PVC pipes, and the tubing; this should leave me with a safety factor for my first mixing of DM Gold grow nutrients…

To start, the JBJ chiller was calibrated to the Temp on my Hanna 98129 combo meter…

And the pH of RO seems to swing pretty wild (even though I did a two point pH calibration on the Hanna), but the temp is what’s important to note…

Since I’ve been battling root aphids and my current clones are a bit rootbound, I’ve started with DM Gold Zone at 2 ml/gal (84 ml total) directly to the epicenter…

After waiting about 30 min, I added 5.1 ml/gal (215 ml total) of DM Gold Nutrient A Grow directly to the epicenter…

Then I waited another 30 min and added 5.1 ml/gal (215 ml total) of DM Gold Nutrient B Grow directly to the epicenter…

Finally I waited another 30 min to check the epicenter and each bucket for consistent readings… The resultant mix at 0.5 conversion to EC is 342 PPM. Also note the temp after the chiller has been on without the HPS on…

I currently ditched the zone and replaced it with aqaushield and root ecelerator and my root almost doubled in size in one day. I would highly recommend the stuff it fuckin nuts. I have always had kick ass results with little issue with bennies with the zone I been having weird shit go down and I know lots of it is from me. DM gold is the shit for base nutes Im just gonna not use there additives and use others.

What up bro?! Looking real clean. As for the water pump issue, try disassembling the pump and reconfiguring the O-ring inside, those things always leak from the factory. You should be able to do this with minimal water spillage. If that doesn't fix it, just add a hose clamp to the upper hose and you should be all good.:harvest:
