as long as it is done in veg and not in flower, fan leaves are energy factories for the nodes they are attached to, think of the bud as your house and the fan leaf is a solar panel that supports that house.
Rock on
Hey thanks for stopping in juniper, yes like the hempy buckets...will be interesting to see the root structure next week when I harvest the NL.I defoliate from veg. stage into late flower. Aggressive defoliating during stretch will significantly reduce stretch. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your strain and situation. Flowers photosynthesize, too.
Experience has shown that removing a fan leaf blocking a developing budsite from light is ALWAYS more beneficial than leaving it on. Buds exposed to direct light are ALWAYS harder, denser, and weigh more than those that are shaded. We can argue about the finer points of situational defoliation until we're blue in the face, but that is it, down to brass tacks.
@RedFroggie your grow looks nice! Did you get your LED fixed? You liking the hempies so far?
Yes have heard of Advanced....was also looking at Platinum I believe they use the same made in US components Bridgelux. Under a 100 watt draw during veg sounds real nice to my pocket:)
And where I live heat is not an issue so if I went the hps route I would probably only want a 400. Still have time to research...will be able to purchase in early April.
If your looking for weight HPS I am an HPS guy for now but when I get the extra coin I will be going all LED, I don't need the weight and LED produces a better essential oil profile, more terpenes, s for your own stash I think LED is the better choice for quality smoke. It took years for me to realize this. However if your a commercial medical outfit, then HPS would be better because they do out perform LED when it comes to weight, and the essential oil production is still great but the heat and power are an issue
