Hahaha. Serious science. Right up there with maths.
Can I use iso alcohol to clean the spiderfarmer lights?

I would say no, but that's a good question; my guess is that there might be spraying those diodes with some sort of acrylics or something. something... don't know exactly what, but it's an epoxy plastic of some type. Maybe silicon based.... probably along the lines of this shit. Stuff I use to make drones waterproof, and fly in the rain...

I would use a dry rag, or perhaps a moist one. Lights sitting downward don't usually get very dirty.

I'm no debating anything; laying out information and educating any attempt to mold some outdated spec into fitting a modern technology; say what you want buddy; lay it out there. Prove your point. Sound like you got a problem with absorbing the information; and I feel ya, but it doesn't change the facts.

apples and oranges, what do you not understand.

Par is a hps spec, a sun spec; not an LED one. the end... take this information for what it's worth, or not. I don't care.

I love to absorb knowledge...and when someone makes a claim about something that sounds incorrect, I want to hear where the reasoning and logic behind it comes from. Not sure why you are resorting to a defensive mode. If you are unable to provide the info just say its your hunch. Nothing wrong with that.

oh also....sometimes acronyms are shared. The PAR im talking about is Photosynthetic Active Radiation.

Your right of course. I'm just suggesting that there is none. That's all. Take it for what it's worth.
I've certainly been wrong once or twice.
No polemical intent.

So I'll stop beating the horse. Certainly no offense was intended, just trying to be helpful.
I've been working with LED for over 13 years; so I am perhaps, overly eager to put PAR in the past, and bury it; With the inefficient dinosaur lights/space heaters.

That doesn’t seem to show what you are debating though. I’m not saying the LEDs can produce exactly like the sun...I’m saying that using PAR to calculate PPFD would be the closest, best estimate of what height you should hang the light.

That's the thing; they don't.
They only give precisely what the plant can absorb, (or very close too it) which is different than what the sun gives. ie. less but more.
It's exceptionally targeted light, developed by NASA, so they can grow cabbage & lettuce in space.

It's perfectly targeting what the plant can absorb, which actually changes over time.

Ah gotchya. Lol. How about this idea to put all these lights in the past. A reflective lighting source. A lens mounted on top of your house that points toward the sun and uses a tracking sensor to keep the sun in view, sends light to a series of mirrors that route it to the fixture where it’s reflected by a mirror onto your plants. Would be some light loss for sure....and if a bird shits on it you’re screwed...but maybe it could work?

Sure, but you'll have to collect the light, focus it, then expand it out again. Can also be done with fiber optics, which is more efficient than "mirrors"

But the cost might be astronomical to develop. There's been a few building constructed so far. You could even bring light under the floors that way, actually, all sort's of things. Make caves into grow area, and such.

But remember it gets dark at night, and sometimes there's clouds. So collecting ambient light, and all light waves, and converting them into energy, then putting them into the exact spectrums, could possibly be more efficient. It's interesting which would be more efficient.

That’s true....maybe a little greenhouse would be cheaper. Surprised I don’t see anything about small greenhouse setups.

Good info. @Frankster, Mahalo Muchest...That's kinda what @ComfortablyNumb and I were thinking along these lines too regarding that "protection/water-proofing seal" over the diodes...

PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) is sort of a useless term and here is why;

PAR only counts light between 400nm and 600nm as useful to the plant. However, from people like Dr. Bruce Bugbee we know that there are frequencies outside that bracket that plants use. PAR was supposed to cover all the plants need but its too limited. And that's why it's almost useless.

PAR can be correctly calculated when using a quantum sensor designed to measure the additional frequencies.

Use this to clean your SF lights. Its the same stuff aircraft use.

two virtually identical units; different batch specification numbers; and different manufacture. I'm surprised by how similar they are TBH.

What's off here exactly? I see one that's got a thicker, conformal (better water resistance) coating, and different circuit board versions EO5 and EO4. Look almost identical. Same size, same ends, identical diode configuration, but looks like slightly different ratio's.

Spit it out; or are we suppose to guess.lol.
