Will two gallons of brew tea be enough to mix in a 90 gallon res. Drain to waste feed

I would think so as cap said 1 gallon per 100 seems to be enough.. :D

For a 90 gallon DTW reservoir you would want to add 9 gallons of tea. For a 90 gallon recirculating system it would be only 1 gallon of tea. If your res is sitting there all week doing constant timed feedings then you would go with the 1 gallon, and put a small recirculating pump or airstone to keep O2 going in the res.

@ivyboy1225 it's 1 tablespoon per gallon. If you make the tea, it's 1 tablespoon per gallon of tea, then add this tea to your main res @ either 1 part tea to 100 parts res solution (recirculating system like RDWC, ebb/flo, large holding res to water plants all week etc.. or 1 part tea to 10 parts res solution if you are gonna mix a res and use it all that day to water yoru soil/coco/peat plants that are drain to waste.

Should I mix that into the res with a lite base of 300ppm nutes & feed or just RO in the res then add tea and feed.

Thanks

It doesn't matter you can even use full strength nutes. the bennies won't mind. It takes very high concentrations of nutrients to kill them. So high that you would most likely kill the plants first.

Hey @Capulator , I thought in your particular feed profile, you do your tea on a stand alone day (7-10 days spaced out) then hit them with nutes next feed cycle. Do I have that wrong?

Also, do you ever straight water in between? It seems you go straight feed until flush.

The only time I flush is starting around 7-10 days before I chop. If my runoff is coming out really hot I will flush with half strength nutes. With the DE bulbs the plants eat a lot, and if you flush them too early the flowers will flush too hard and the bag appeal will go in to the shitter. I currently add tea to my nutrient solution at the rate of approximately 1 gallon tea/10 gallons nutes. Always mix nutes and pH before adding tea.

In my recirc systems (which I am not running currently) I was adding one gallon of tea to 100 gallons of tank solution and I would do this either the day I changed the nutes or the day after. I would change my tank out religiously once a week. In my RDWC tanks and in my rockwool tables that were top fed, but used a recirculating res.

thanks a lot @Capulator for the reply! I didn't know you were adding teas with feed schedule but that makes a lot of sense. Ty for clarifying.

Reread this thread. Couple questions pop up for me:

@Capulator said to run 1-2 cups per 5 gallons, then mentions how he personally runs 1 gallon per 10 gallons of nutes (at 5 cups a gallon). Does that mean for 100 gallon res with nutes mixed he runs 10 gallons of tea?

I been having problems with ewc getting clogged (despite straining with cheesecloth) and was curioius if a large refillable teabag was acceptable to put the ewc in or would that restrict bacterias food source?

the original formula says its good for cuttings, but its recommended not to use the nute pack in rockwool correct?

thank you in advance for anyone that answers.

I use one of these for my ewc, guano, alfalfa, when I make teas.....

and then I strain the tea with one of these before I add it to my res.....

I usually add a gallon of tea to 10 gallons of water, but I am drain to waste coco.....I do not add tea to a nutrient solution.....except maybe some ful power.

Ill be buying both of those thank you for the recommendations.

Interesting @CelticEBE concerning your amounts. So you typically just do 10 in a res and feed that alone? Or do you go 50 gallons full? My main concern is I haven't dialed in my amount to feed, I been adding them in with the nutes in one 55 gallon res, and I'm dtw coco as well.

Any input would be appreciated.

I usually have a set amount that I water each night. Back when I ran sealed rooms and co2 I would feed for 6 days and then give them water/tea/fulvic. I would mix up enough to water them that night and then the next day I would clean out my reservoir and mix up the next 6 days of nutes.

I'm not running sealed rooms any more, or co2 for that matter, so now I feed for 3, give them diluted nutes, feed for 2 days, then give them water/tea/fulvic.

I do it like this because I don't have a lot of runoff and I don't want things building up in my medium.

I've never really added tea to a reservoir that would be feeding plants for multiple days at a time....but I know there are plenty of people who do it like that. Really just breaks down to growing styles.

Hey Cap! Been using your root and foliar pack for a few years now. Mix up the simple tea recipe in the beginning of this thread with both and bubble for 24 hours. Drench with diluted solution and foliar full strength once a week diligently. Havent seen a bug since. This shit works if you use as a preventative after eliminating the infestation. It helped me eliminate root aphids by drenching full strength every week for 4 weeks then diluted solution after. Root aphids gone! Every dude I know has issues and they always ask why I don't. I tell em and they think Im bullshitting em. You make some dumb tea and that keeps the bugs away? Yes I do! It works and its so easy. YOU DA MAN! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hey brother good to see you posting again! Yeah the shit works. I use like 8 kilos a week myself and it can get expensive I know but if you have RA and you don't want to use harsh chemmies it's the best shit out there.

@ivyboy1225:

There are 2 different dilutions. One is if you are in a drain to waste situation, or outside. I always say 1 part tea to 10 parts nutes but if you want easier math use 1 part tea to 9 parts nutes. that's the 1 gallon of tea to 9 gallons of nutrient solution or water. Whatever you are feeding your plants that day is fine (water or food). So if it takes you 50 gallons to water everything then you add 5 gallons to your 45 gallons of nutes to make a 50 gallon solution. The key is to apply every 7-10 days and yes like dollar says when you water you can also foliar feed tops and bottoms of leaves, stems... saturate the whole plant. When you foliar feed use full strength tea or if it is too thick for the sprayer you can dilute 50%.

If you keep a recirculating reservoir then you add a lot less. 1-2 cups of tea per 5 gallons of recirculating nutes. So if you have 100 gallons feeding your plants all week before you do a reservoir change out (ebb flow, RDWC, etc) then you just do your change out, and then after you have added your nutes, pH'd etc. you add about a gallon of tea.

Hopefully this clears it up for you. I run coco drain to waste and my room takes 100 gallons to water if I hit each plant for exactly 20 seconds. I add 10 gallons of tea to 100 gallons of nutes when I water. I use a 120 gal res (there is 10 gallons worth of space left in the res so it doesn't over flow). When I ran RDWC I used 1 gallon in to 100 gallon res that I would change weekly.

Ty for reply cap. That definitely clears things up for me. I am running coco dtw with top drip and will definitely need to up my tea quantity according to what you said.

Oh boy, time to look for something bigger to mix my teas in than the home depot buckets.

Can you water soil with the full strength tea recipe in post #1?

Yes I read 50 pages so far and never saw this specifically answered. I assume since you can full strength foliar you can full strength water soil.

I am loving this tea. Originally I was adding 1-2 cups at 10 gallons, but it seems I'm going to be upping it to near cap's current blend of ~ 1 gallon of tea / 10 gallons of feed.

Wow I'm going to burn threw this fast. Another kilo order for me coming soon please.

Side note: Anyone else using the more diluted tea with success (in order to save money) or is it just not worth the chance of infestation?

Grabbing all 3 packs tomorrow from the grow shop , DTW coco , some fucked up looking brown roots
.
ratio - 1 gallon of tea + 9 gallons of ph'd nutes = 10 , this is fine for stressed out plants with a poor brown root system ??? Or is there a suggested adjustment in my case ?

Just found spider mites in my room. My recommendation is you can never go wrong going stronger. Cap has stated in various posts that it won't harm the plants if you go in with a heavy hand.

Now back on to p bombing this room then using caps nutes + foliaring the crap out of it.
