The Adventure Continues. 2016 Edition

You spray the healthy non infected buds with alcohol... Does it evaporate and the smell go away?? I know about removing the mold and trying to get as much out as possible...

Yep. You want to also spray the wound and all areas surrounding, to ensure that you're killing any spores. It just evaporates away.

This strain has the worst bud rot... Its way ahead of everything else and its only at day 47.... I don't know if I should harvest some colas or not.. I think I'm gonna let it ride it out through the next couple days of heat and then harvest some tops right before the next rain..View attachment 600613

Get some Oxidate ASAP. Spot spray the infected area BEFORE you cut it out to knock down the spore, cut out the infected area with sterile shears, then spray the area again with oxidate. Be sure you cut back into healthy tissue. Sterilize your shears with oxidate, and repeat as needed. You might also look into doing soil drench with Regalia to prevent the other plants from getting moldy. It is not actually a true fungicide but rather a plant extract that boosts the plants immune system making it more able to fend of fungal infections and can be used right up until a few days before harvest.

Where's a good spot to get oxidate and regalia locally or do I have to get it online. . (I still gotta buy the quad sprayer you recommended. )I bought the regular alcohol and a sprayer sea maiden recommended.

IIRC you're going to need an operators permit to buy the Regalia, but the Oxidate you should be able to find in a spray bottle at a garden center now. It's a combination of peroxides, and depending on the type you get it can be *very* (as in EXTREMELY) caustic. I generally don't use it anymore unless it's an extreme situation, I use the isopropyl.

So the cheap greenhouse plastic was a humidity making machine and I think why I was getting some bud rot. So I ripped them off and they instantly got direct sunlight and way more airflow.

Tomorrow is the big day we can plant all the clones and not have to worry about anything starting to flower on us. I was really running out of room.

What is everyones preferred method of supporting giant plants??? I have been using the thick 14 gauge fencing that is 8 feet tall the past two years and am getting sick of it... This year I was gonna use smaller cages around the plant then build a support system out of netting this year.. Any and all advice is appreciated..

Hortonova stretched over/across metal poles (I think they're for electrical work). I don't like the fencing because it pokes the hell outta me.

these plants really love humidity, thats not the issue, its the air-flow thats needed with high humidity.

they do not like the air just sitting around the leaf as it transpires. not saying your wrong for opening up the tarps, everything looks awesome. but it's an example of how one issue can cascade and start a chain of events that are unwanted ....

my outdoor perform best with the humidity around 50-70% for 2-3rd's of the day ( near bush / forest line just outside open area that holds humidity throughout the night, unlike the area in the middle of said field. )

my buddy owns one of the largest orchid greenhouses in europe. you can research how these world class greenhouses operate on the web ( in detail, then mimic them ). he produces over 2 million orchids per year. his set-up cost over 17 million euro's in the early 2000's when he first opened.

Yeah dealing with the fencing is no joke.

I totally agree with you. I would love to build a super nice greenhouse with great airflow but these are just cheap temporary ones and the amount of airflow to make a difference in the size of the hoop house was gonna be a nightmare to try and set up.

maybe next year set up a couple smaller ones on the side for testing.

then test things like rolling up the sides, fans or not, or maybe opening them up for half the day, i bet when the sun sets is when the humidity really ramped up over-night. like dealing with lockout issues with nutes, the stale air once used up can cause issues regarding the transpiration process .... the dead air trapped in the inner area between the plants becomes an issue.

sorry about the rot, but plants being that close prob limits airflow also. i understand yield per square meter or not having very large greenhouse so you can space them out a bit for better air-flow ..... anyhow, with all that said your still pumping out A+ so we are just splitting hairs. just looking at your issue is what made me bring this up.

your really doing a nice job.

I second the hortanova, works way better than fencing, is a lot easier to put up, and is cheaper. If you put it up and allow the plant to grow through it, it will save you even more time. I like to use grape stakes for the supports, and if I need to extend them up higher I use hose clamps to attach 1" metal EMT conduit.
