The new sprayer worked awesome but I hope I never have to use it again LOL at least once this issue is over

I don't spray healthy plants. I've sprayed magnesium a couple times but I never have sprayed anything on a healthy plant ever, not this time around

I'm going to wait not three but five days to spray the plants in veg that got hit with the neem cuz there's very little activity going on so I'm not going to push the two treatments any closer together than I have to

That's it, it's done nothing else
-mood for a day:

Edit to add that of course I managed to get some in my eye, I know the rules..

..just marking a page that I finally found from last year for reference, trying to find the frequency I treated the thrips with last year..?

I'm guessing it's every 3 days, 3 times in a row and once a week after that.. I tell everybody read the freaking label so I guess I'll read the label too!?

I've noticed a thrip bitten leaf here and there for a while now

What I don't quite get is I never have thrip bites or damage in bloom

Both thrip attacks have been in the veg tent, moreover when I put a plant in bloom that has a few thrip bites on it it seems to stop the thrips progression?

the only difference between the side by side veg and bloom tents are the different nutrients that I feed to veg and bloom

Is it possible that thrips like some nutrients better than others or is it because they like vegetative plants better than blooming plants?

I'm just wondering if this could be a thing? Also I don't remember hearing this question asked before?

tl'dr; Are some nutrients less desirable to certain insects?

That's also my impression, I'm harvesting a plant tomorrow, I'm going to inspect the roots with magnification

So this is about the third time I forgot to check the roots I do have one more summer plant to harvest soon, my last chance lol

This is three days since I sprayed spinosad on the thrips, I looked up reapplication frequency on the Monterey bottle and it said for Tomatoes wait a minimum of 4 days & for dried herbs wait a minimum of five days, so I'm going to wait 5 days

Then after this I'm going to spray neem oil in 1 week, and then 1 week after that I'm going to spray the spinosad again, and I think I'm going to continue this as an IBM program

I don't like neem oil I find it repulsive; but if I'm honest a few years ago for about 6 months I sprayed it on my veg plants weekly and they never looked happier! they really looked like they loved it, just my impression but I believe it's beneficial

Cuts looking good probably start the plants they came from into bloom any day now, just waiting to see that first white root in the tray

Are you putting nutes in that perlite/ vermiculite mix? And isnt that the original hempy bucket mix? 2-1 perlite to vermiculite right?

I'm not sure about the hempy bucket mix? This is the mix I used to use back in the last century when I used to start Flats of 50 seeds, those little white pots are the very ones I used to use back then, down to 11 of them, I need some more!

From there they would go into the hydroton, and then into the flood trays, also used lava rock back then, didn't like it as much though

I haven't put any newts in there yet but I will start when I check it tomorrow probably start them at 200ppm because I believe they're starting to root now, a little tough to tell in this mix but I kind of know by eye

Hempy buckets are 5 gallon home depot style buckets with a 1/4” hole drilled about 4” from the bottom for runoff. Fulled with perlite/ vermiculite. Basic hydro. Just add nutes.

Humm.. I think I did consider Hempys back at Riu had to be like 4 years ago something like that, but the schlepping of the water was the main caveat! ()

what I do now is feed the soil nutrients with no run-off twice in a row and then the third watering which is about once every nine days I do a plain mini-flush to get the salts out, and this rotation greatly cuts down the watering labor over Coco coir or the Hempy bucket

Couple short vids I just watched on the hempy bucket topic..

Cloning using root riots has been giving me fits and starts for a while, but I've had great luck with my near bulletproof perlite/vermiculite seed starting mix for cloning, it's self-watering and that makes it easy, and the easier something is the more I like it!

So this was my first stunt grow, it went horribly wrong and spun wildly out of control LOL just kidding, was pretty uneventful..

Romberry by Freedom of Seeds

This is a grow I've been threatening to do for several years now lol ;) It should be fun, hope you enjoy the shenanigans!? This is Romberry, perhaps the easiest cloning plant I've ever had, she wants to grow big and bushy but she can be trained. She's a...
www.thcfarmer.com

Secretly the old hydro grower in me has been thinking about doing one plant in Coco for a while

However with this recent talk about hempy buckets I think my next stunt grow is going to be a hempy bucket, because it's real hydro (and if I'm honest I'm not the biggest fan of coco)

I already have the buckets with holes in them that I used to brew beer in although I'm using them out in my tomato garden now that'll be done before long, and I just recently picked up a big bag of #3 perlite

And by coincidence, or by the magic of the stars aligning I also have some small Romberry plants that I'm bringing along for a run at the end of the year, I can't see myself using any other plant but the nearly bulletproof Romberry for a stunt grow

I think it's going to happen!? won't be for a while but I'll probably give it its own journal when I do start, and this will give me some time to study up a bit on it

With the stars aligning how can I not grow a Hempy? LOL it'll be fun!

Forgot the before picture above!

They got quite a haircut but they're still borderline too tall for the bloom tent

We'll make it fit!

I finally got that Mazzy Star to root!! Holy mackerel what I've gone through to get her to put out roots!?

I'll have some pictures later when I up-pot them, pretty sure all four strains have rooted

Took 10 days to root, lots of roots in the one I checked too, my seed starting mix never fails

Tonight all the mother's will go into bloom to free up some room, so finally I can start some seeds from new strains!!

Hello mr. Mosh, good to see you! Don't like Coco because it's not inert, but more than that I don't like the constant watering and runoff; too much extra labor, why do I need that ?

Jumped the gun above only Mazzy Star rooted was a little surprised because they all looked like they had started rooting and growing

The easy cloning strains are left in the tray so I reckon they'll put down Roots sooner or later so onward through the fog
