It’s different in each state. Michigan does have extremely high startup costs. And for someone who isn’t already in the business and well established within the business it’s next to impossible to get up to speed. And the application process hasn’t even started yet. It’s billion dollar companies that are snatching up the rights right now and they’ll profit the most from it. It really is a difficult situation right now in the state of Michigan. Sad but that’s the truth.

Ah, I see. I didn't know that--grateful for the information. That sucks....

I wouldn’t take clones home from any dispensary without hitting them with eagle20 because I already know the powdery mildew is deep within them. LoL
The worst part is it won’t rear its ugly face till your in flower.

I have never taken in an outside plant to my grow rooms. I have never even worn clothes that have been outside in there.

And in almost 5 years I have seen only a few gnats and springtails in the organic potting soil.

I even spray alcohol on everything going in or out and wipe down. Only takes a second and a few dollars of alcohol per month.

And any spills get sprayed with hydrogen peroxide after drying them up.

That's a very different situation---I'm sorry folks are having to deal with that!

And to be honest that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s dive in.

A grower cannot sell directly to a dispensary and a dispensary cannot buy from a grower. Anymore.

A dispensary has to buy from a processor. A processor can buy from a grower. However you cannot transport more than a set amount. To do that you need a transporter.

Each of these entities has to be licensed and each entitity needs profit to exist. So the grower basically has to pay processors and transporters to get their product to the dispensary.

And that’s the problem in a nutshell.

Oh yeah and each entity cannot claim typical tax dedications and there’s a 3% tax on top of the 6% sales tax that’s already in place.

Same as it ever was (lol). I really relate to the original point--gotta get back to where we belong! If we keep the faith and do the work, I firmly believe we can resurrect the quality we remember. If there's anything i've learned from 1990 to 1992, it's that the more you give away, the more you get back!

The state is in limbo right now as there is no current system ready to go or in place. Yesterday the state just issued a press release telling dispensaries to keep buying directly from growers (or caregivers) for the time being until they get their shit together. In reality the recreational market probably won’t see its first legal sale until 2020. And the state is basically slowly shutting down its medical system and switching it all over to recreational. Or at least that’s what seems to be happening. However they are shutting down the medical system before the recreational system is in place.

And to top it all off there’s rumors that they might ban personal cultivation but still allow medical cultivation for personal use only. This will create a situation where if you are a medical patient and don’t have a way to grow your own you’ll be forced to buy from the overly taxed recreational dispensaries.

And thus is why folks are upset over the current situation and believe that legalizing it was the opposite of progress.

While I do agree with them on that I cannot ignore that making it legal for adults to use by itself was a bad thing. It’s just the state is fucking it up like they do everything else.

But imo there’s a loophole. Remember on the trailer park boys when Julien opened his own bar called “the dirty dancer”? He didn’t have a liquor license. Instead he relied on donations and gave away the booze for free. This is how it’ll have to work for most growers who want to keep operating but can not afford the license.

If we keep the faith and do the work, I firmly believe we can find that needle. No matter how many haystacks it takes. Once you've had what we were blessed with in '90 and '91, you can't go back. At least I can't.

If I had a patented pheno and I legally sold you a copy I could care less what you do with it for your personal needs and even if you give it away, but if you take Farmer P weed and re-name it MIMed weed and start selling it then we would have a problem. That would be the only reason for the patent.

For me, taking a strain someone else developed and calling it your own is a matter of honor and integrity. Also, keeping true to the breeder and strain name allows us to know what we;re getting...

Interested if Michigan requires “seed to sale” tracking software. Massachusetts is plodding along with perhaps rereational dispensaries 3,4 and 5 opening next week. So far, huge volume and traffic jams for the first two.

Funny how it can be approved for cannabis which has never killed anyone and yet guns don’t require it. Makes perfect sense to me.
