Hey Vets PTSD ans MMJ

Passing along.....

During his second tour of duty in Iraq, Marine Sargent Ryan Begin was struck by an improvised explosive device. He required more than 30 surgeries to heal his badly injured arm -- but since he retired from the Marines, Ryan's mental wounds have hurt him the most.

Sgt. Begin suffered badly from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He was haunted by nightmares and flashbacks from his time in Iraq, which led to reckless behavior and bursts of violence against even his loved ones.

Ryan was only able to live with his PTSD when he took up medical marijuana. He registered as a patient in his home state of Maine, where medical marijuana is legal. Since then, Ryan says he has stabilized: He finally feels like himself again.

Now scientists want to see if they can prove that marijuana can help veterans and others with PTSD. But a few government agencies continue to block the proposed study: It seems they're afraid the study might prove marijuana can effectively treat PTSD. Ryan started a petition on Change.org asking the Department of Health and Human Services and others to allow a study on the medical benefits of marijuana for PTSD. Click here to sign.

While the doctors at the Veteran's Affairs hospital prescribed medications for pain and psychological trauma, Ryan felt that they were ineffective and left him in a "pill haze," not feeling like himself. During his treatment, Ryan began abusing alcohol and prescription drugs to escape the pain that the doctors couldn't relieve.

Ryan isn't alone: PTSD is the second-most common illness facing today's veterans. Tens of thousands of service members suffer from stress rooted in their time overseas. And while many are able to find some relief from traditional medical treatments, others like Ryan are left seeking something that will work for them --and scientists think that medical marijuana may be the answer.

The Food and Drug Administration has already approved protocols for the proposed study on marijuana and PTSD. Ryan is asking the next agency involved in the process, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, to also approve the study. While it's not the final step, it's critical to move the study forward.

Please sign Ryan's petition to allow a study on the medical benefits of marijuana for those suffering from PTSD. Click here to add your name now:

Thanks for being a change-maker,

- Michael and the Change.org team

I did just that, and some for me! Celebrate being alive because I am. I am thankful for my family every second of my day. I can't imagine not having this in my life. Give thanks for making it!

Cheers,

Great job.. yes indeed. What's up all? Hoping this new year will be better. My grow failed... so for 12' I am switching to coco to hopefull get some successful grows under my belt. Started seeing my shrink for my PTSD... it is dulling the edge a little. Also working on getting my bennies. Hopefully 2012 will be better. Sucks that in my personal life... you help others and then they shit on you. Though I do continue to help others... I am focusing more on making sure my family is taken care of first. That is my #1... then others can stand in line. Tired of seeing my family suffer because of my liberality... need to take care of home first.

Thanks for letting me rant brothers.

Semper FI!

Sorry to hear about the crop man! Hopefully you learned enough to make up for the loss of time and money. PTSD is a bitch, but it looks like you are doing the right thing by communicating to someone about it. Hang in there dude, what's the next crop going to be?

Thanks guys... I am hanging in there.

My next crop is OGR Wifi in coco... and if I can get my hands on some Blue Skies I may throw that into the mix. Alot of people have been telling me that coco is a little more forgiving then DWC and RDWC. Just waiting to revamp the room and make sure everything is dialed in before I put seeds in the pots.

Thanks again guys for your support

Semper FI!

P.S. I find that skywalker be it mazar or the og... seems to help alot with PTSD.

For sure GanjaAL! I have noticed that the Skywalker is a great PTSD strain! I have found that '91Chemdawg works wonders as well. Especially in concentrated form! Ask Pura lol He'll attest to that! It is also a great pain med!

I've been pretty damn busy actually. I just moved AGAIN! damn moving! I am super close to my 100% va disability too. I'm at 70% and just waiting for the stupid system to finish my review for the complete (formality) 100%. Nice backpay check inline too. Going on month 11 right now of the hurry up, turn it in, and wait. Told me it could take up to a year for an answer back, even though they have everything and it's on their desk! My boy went to the State of the Union on Tuesday with a Congressman, well as his guest. He hand delivered my info to the head of the VA, Shinseki (7th United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, ex 4 star general, SF, blah blah blah) for him to unfuck my VA claim. Great to have friends in "high" places ;) How have you been GanjaAL?

For real bro if you are looking for that extra push for your claim contact your Congressman! It puts your claim on the "congressional interest" list, giving your VA/other offices a strict timeline on figuring out your claim. Your best bet is to look into a VSO(Veteran's Service Officer), they are the liason between the Veteran and the VA. They don't fuck around either! No is the time, being an election year, to get your political representation on blast! Hell these guys/gals in Congress are looking to get their shit to smell better lol! Hell if we all called our Congressman's office and said "WTF" that shit gets stuff moving! Like having the director of the local/regional VA office call you direct in response to a complaint to ensure you are getting taken care of. Kinda like the shit rolled down hill from Capital Hill to the desk of the big wigs that are supposed to ensure our claims are taken care of in a timely manner. Nothing to lose here guys/gals. IF your in a non med state mentioning Cannabis could screw you as far as your prescription meds go. Some docs won't square you away without a piss test to ensure you are only on THEIR meds. BS if you ask me, but just be smarter then the system and you'll prosper. Whatever you do don't quit, that's what they hope for. Death or quitting on your claim is what the government wants, so they don't have to pay. Think of it like a disability claim for workmans comp. THEY OWE US. Don't be too good for a "handout", because it's not a handout, it's what you earned as a Soldier/Marine/Airmen/Seaman! Give'em hell boys/girls! For real if you need help with your VA claim issues pm me!

Cheers,
Crom

the VFW while i dont agree with all there political possitions, they made a night and day difference in getting my claims processed, and calling to check on them constantly helped to get them through, and i wasnt even a member...i am now just to pay back there help but, the VFW or DAV can help alot and have offices in major VA's...i was %80 before they gave me my unemployable %100 but they screw you anyway, my %80 shoulda been like 230% or some shit lol, they start subtracting percentage if you have other claims, it doesnt make sense to me...my PTSD has been giving me a hard time lately, one of my dogs just died and im trying to plan a reunion with the guys in my platoon, thats going good but bringing in alot of bad memory's...bitter-sweet
heres a pic of my companion dog, (they wanted my to be in the dogtag program but with house inspections i opted out and got her as a rescue) and some plants im working with some are my own crosses, some are breeders beans, there not sexed yet but some are female seeds, will be on the tables soon...and its good to see this thread back up, its good to have support thank you brothers
