well next time put a hat on it and you will not have to worry about hlvdIf only HLVd clones wouldn't pissed in my seed pool though.

So is there anyway to check for this virus outside of buying an expensive device to test for it? Phenohunting high quality packs of seeds seems more important than ever. The 10% bleach solution sprayed on seeds sounds like a good idea. A 10% hydrogen peroxide solution would probably achieve the same goal.
Not sure how this virus is going to be stopped at this point. This is an interesting article I found. This excerpt is particularly concerning considering most estimates are that about 80% of the market currently is GSC hybrids.
"Interestingly, the review article also notes that only a few cannabis cultivars actually show symptoms associated with HLVd when infected, which implies that the disease severity and symptoms could be genotype-dependent. Although, as the review authors also point out, there is no current evidence of any HLVd-resistant cultivars."
Hop Latent Viroid is a Major Threat to the Cannabis Industry, Review Claims
The review details the discovery of HLVd in hops and subsequently in the cannabis plant, provides a brief overview of the extent of these infections in the industry, and offers guidance on the prevention and management of infections.www.analyticalcannabis.com
No. And you have to send samples to a qualified lab to get positive identification. They will run a LAMP or PCR test to detect it. The best and most accurate part of the plant to send in for testing is the roots. Test any other part of the plant, and it does not have 100% success in detection. So is there anyway to check for this virus outside of buying an expensive device to test for it?
No, it will not. Hydrogen peroxide or alcohol will not work as a substitute and can actually spread it more. The 10% bleach solution sprayed on seeds sounds like a good idea. A 10% hydrogen peroxide solution would probably achieve the same goal.
I think the real question here is how much do we really need to worry about this virus? This virus could have been present in cultivars as far back as the 80's or even earlier. They first discovered the virus on hops plants in the 80's. The only reason we know it exists now is because we have the ability to test for it. It's nicknamed the "dud plant" disease. In the past if you had a dud plant, you just got rid of it...I highly recommend these folks at Kaycha Labs for HVL'd testing - https://www.kaychalabs.com/
I figured hydrogen peroxide is an excellent alternative to bleach and would work the same way. Do you have any information on why it would help spread it more? Liquid oxygen is excellent for seeds as well to help give the initial tap root a source of energy right away. I had that recommended to me earlier this year, it made sense, I tried it, and it works really well. 10% hydrogen peroxide solution is what I used. No, it will not. Why? Just being curious... clones were the way to keep ya goingIndeed, fuck clones, never used them or want to.

Fear mongering brother. Why? Just being curious... clones were the way to keep ya going
Ok man, you’re weird. I’m out of this dumpster fireThere is a zillion cloning threads on the naked THCFarmer site yet this one is called "Which is the most reliable seed bank"
I don't piss in your pool...

who’s blaming hlvd?????It’s easier to blame viroids for shitty grow practices than to actually hold yourself accountable for growing problems.
And deadstill I recently heard that tumi is going back on the root test with being the most accurate. Everything you heard a year ago probably all different now .
The entire cannabis commercial industrywho’s blaming hlvd?????
most accurate but not perfect.. still it’s a waste of money testing..
i hear ya..The entire cannabis commercial industry
We have our own pcr tester here at my work and we are required to test weekly before we take cuts.
that couldn’t be farther from the truth….Barney's farm is the best
