Just answering the questions you asked.
I know I am not Medusa but if you all don't mind I will add my two cents.
To start, my first question is what T-5 units do have running right now? My second questions is how big do you want your plants to get n veg?
I have used T-5 Units very successfully in the past to veg plants. I have set up a series of racks with 4 foot 4 bulb T-5 units attached over each shelf. I only needed my plants to reach 12-18 inches in height so they would often hit the max height rather quickly. But that was also for a sea of green grow. If you are running larger plants the T-5's may not offer enough light to get the most out of your plants. The drawback of T-5's, in my opinion, is that they tend not to penetrate more than 18 inches into the canopy. T-5's do have several advantages though, such as low heat output, plants can stay very close to the lights for extended periods of time, and there are lots of options to create coverage (uunit sizes, can be hung vertically or horizontally). In my opinion to veg plants to a size over 2 feet you may want to consider an MH unit. It will offer good penetration through the canopy allowing lower branches to grow strG
Again these are just my opinions, I am sure just about everyone else around here would have their own opinion. The only truly correct answer to your questions lies in what works best for you; whether that be due to budget or space constraints.
