Use the BOG method. When you transplant from your 5 gal to your main pots, (or whatever sizes they may be) only bury the 5 gal 3/4 of the way. This leaves a 1/4 of the 5 gal pot, or roughly 4", sitting above the main soil level of your final pot. I used to do this in the bay where I would have more moisture problems. When watering you can't really get the stalk wet because the water runs right off to the main part of the soil.

Anything getting close to harvest?

this right here! Thats what worked for me

One garden is totally fine. Other one I cheaper out on this year and bought one roll of the smaller gauge caging and 3 of my larger plants bent it in half and totally collapsed. View attachment 536684

what size wire is it that failed, and what size you doing this year? What do you like to use? Last yea my trellis system was a PITA so cages are my must have this year.

My arms hurt. Ripped out all the massive stalks today at one place. Went to the other one and now I got the workers doing it. Boom. Were almost 100 percent in and hanging. Got the triminator cranking. View attachment 547193

that photo there man, both the happiest and saddiest every year for me....its nice having everything down, knowing its coming to end. But its so sad not being able to see the ladies and sit in the greenhouse (in my case) with them. Feels so unreal when the seasons winding down.

It definitely can be worth it...Really nice to have consistent income every three months.. My advice would be these things... Look for a place with really tall ceilings- its much more important then people realize- 10 feet is a minimum and 11 feet is ideal... Pick one good strain that yields well and people want it consistently and really focus on that, after a couple runs and you really have your room dialed in then start messing around with different strains and techniques... My old roommate got the new 1100 watt bulbs and he has been absolutely killing it with the sour diesel.. He's been getting about 36 pounds off of his 12 lights pretty consistently... He has a huge amount of area he covers with each light- I think its close to a 6x6 foot space per light.. I had my 1000 watts pretty cramped thats why my yield per light was so much lower.. Spend the money and build your room really well and make sure your AC and Dehums are totally in sync... Last but not least make sure to keep the night time tempatures really really warm,, everyone that gets really good yields has really warm tempatures in the dark cycles.... and of course watch out for mites and powder and all the other pests- i kinda figured you have that under control...

preach it right there brother so fucking true. When i was first learning to grow, all the literature at the time said to drop the night temps at min. 15 degrees...my main mentor that taught me set me straight and I noticed huge differences in yield and stretch. they stack sooooo much nicer when the nights are warm.

i use the 8 foot tall cages and I'm pretty sure it's 14 gauge. Last year I added a couple more bags then the year before so I listened to my buddy who said " the smaller cages will be fine and they are so much easier to deal with and cut". So I got a roll of the smaller stuff and about 70 percent of the ones I used it on fell in the rain. His plants got massive last year and he had all 30 of his plants fall completely to the ground and break. He was devastated.

You using concrete wire? Or some type of fencing?

Get some lock cutters and put it on a flat yard and roll it out and cut off however long pieces fit around the outside of your pot. Don't put the cages up on your dirt it makes them more top heavy

Ok cool. I'm planting direct in the ground, im sorta planning on 4 10' rigid EMT per plant with 2 cages...one that will be slightly around them early season, and one maybe with 3 foot gap, between, and maybe even some across the top. I can do 8 plants in my greenhouse that would be 10x10 space per plant, with 14' headroom.

ANY pointers you might have? Last year I DI'd a trellis net on my greenhouse, about 6' up, and a second one 8' up, and not only was it a bitch to work in, most the plants ended up flop city and took daily tying and shit. Hoping to have it done right this season. My plants are already in ten gallon smart pots, 3 tall, with genetics that will get big,. Hoping 8# plus per. I'll have 2 plants outside the greenhouse in the ground as well, that are mold immune even with my shitty microclimate

On average last year I would say my blue dreams produced between 2 and 7 pounds. Most of the nice ones in the 200 gallon pots with full sun and plenty of space were on the upside of 5 to 7 and some of the smaller ones were between three and 4. The seed starts all averaged around 5 to 7 #. Just not the same consistency and since I don't have the seeds myself I'm never exactly sure what my friends are actually giving me. ( I'm always impressed though. ). The blue dream I had was very powder mold resistant. I also really liked that it produced dense buds that were spread out. I love the seed starts buds as big as your leg but those are the first to mold when the rains come.
Ahahaha.i dont get that from my whole indoor grow!lol.fuckin wish scotland was sunny.we,r rich in haggis, sheep, tartan and freezing wind but as far as weed goes...its not great.

Pigwire is what I know it as. I prefer my softer Hortonova + electrical conduit rig, doesn't cut or scratch me quite as badly.
My cover crops look like are really starting to grow and I am a little nervous that they might not break down all the way before its time to plant... I was thinking as soon as the results come in I'm going to rototill it all up really good and get the process going- It takes about 2 months to break down is that correct????
If you use a few treatments of AACT you'll keep microbial populations boosted and that will help speed up breakdown of the plant material.
The cover crops- it looks like regular grass is mixed in there but I'm assuming that it's a grass that was in the cover crop mix i bought. Cause there shouldn't be any regular grass that was able to get into the dirt.
Rye grass, I'm assuming.

Thx guys- @Bulldog11 and @leadsled -- I just went and took my soil sample. Got it zip locked up with all the forms filled out and sent it out with a thursday arrival date projected- Ill post the results on here in a couple days when I get it back.. Excellent. Looking forward to the results. The best $25.00 spent.
Cover crop should break down in about 30 days. Will also provide nutrients to the plants as a "green manure".

That sounds like a good plan. A lot of my friends do that method and it works great. Prolly better then My cages. I'm gonna try a couple but I spent a ton of $$$$ on those damn cages and taking them all to the dump in a u haul is a pain in the ass. If you go to you tube and type in Mendo dope he has like a 6 hour film he made of a start to finish garden and it's very impressive and he uses the same method you were talking about I think.

So yesterday we started building a 10 foot wide x 100 feet long hoophouse for a light dep... I have a couple questions... I ordered the 12 mil blackout cloth the guy recommended at the grow store I shop at.. I was wondering if we flower in the beginning of april and we are covering the plants at around 4 pm or so and uncovering them later that evening after its dark out.. Will it get to hot under the tarp and create problems???? It seems to me that a black tarp in the sun will create tons of wet heat in the greenhouse????

Put a layer of reflective white plastic or cloth over the top of your blackout cloth. I'm guessing you have yours motorized for a space that big?

edit - I thought you said 100x100 lol.

Why would you cover at 4pm? That would mean you have lights turning on at 4am?

I have some shadows first thing in the AM, so I pull my tarps from 7:30am - 7:30 pm. (those are the daylight hours)

Somebody with more experience than me, (@Blaze ) told me that sometimes pulling the tarp in the middle of the night can cause stress. (edit: so I would leave it on all night) I would instead recommend a fan, or just passive air flow. My dep house, I have a 10" inline fan that pulls air from the inside, and the exhaust it buried under runner board to the outside of the blackout tarp.

If you can't do all that, then bury a couple pipes for cross air flow. Or just forget it all together and just tarp it. During the summer, any left over moisture gets burned off very fast when the tarp gets pulled.

The black out tarp I use is woven poly, so it allows air flow but no light.

Maybe Blaze can be more help.
